Scritto da: This thing works!!! Dropped in a new HEI distributor on my 1974 Firebird Formula and it was dead on, only had to move distributor a tiny bit to time it….Amazing product!

Works ok but one of the cheesiest excuses for $15+ that Ive ever encountered!
I made my own TDC tool out of a wine bottle cork, drinking straw and small balloon. Using a drill bit that matches the diameter of the drinking straw, drill a hole down through the center of the cork. Cut the drinking straw down to a more appropriate length, smear a bit of silicone sealant on it and insert it through the hole in the cork, leaving an inch or two sticking out of the top of the cork. Finally, put a balloon over the part of the straw sticking out of the top of the cork and tape it there with duct or electrical tape. Thats all there is to it. Now jam the small end of the cork into your #1 cylinder plug hole and hand crank the engine. When the number one piston comes up on compression stroke, the balloon with inflate. Dont pause too long while cranking or the balloon with slowly deflate(or quickly, depending upon how worn your rings are!). Air will begin to be actively sucked out of the balloon as the #1 piston starts to go back down. So I ordered this whistle "tool" because I didnt have much confidence in my home made TDC finder. Come to find out, my home made TDC finder is just as accurate as this whistle version and probably cost just as much to make(less than a dollar). I felt silly for paying over $15 for this rubber cork, piece of straw and a very cheap little dog whistle but at least I now know that my version of a TDC tool works just as well.

Best tool ive used for finding TDC. Makes it an easy one man job.

I was suprised how well this thing works!
Love this little guy! It starts making noise as you come up on the compression stroke and helps you nail down right where TDC is - like advertised. Goofy sound cracks me up, too - I guess that isnt bad.

Works
So far I used this on my Ford 289. It was my first time trying to replace a distributor. I thought I had the engine on the right cylinder but wanted to confirm. I was able to hold this in the spark plug hole and hand crank the engine to get a slight whistle. Probably would have been louder if I had someone to help hold it, but it still worked. Glad I purchased it.

Unique Automotive Tool
I was stuck trying to get my new replacement distributor in correctly. Some how I missed the right position even after paying close attention getting back in same as the old one, I even took before and after reference pictures. This gizmo worked as described with a few tweaks. I had to wet my whistle to get a louder report from it. My spark plugs are recessed in my heads making it difficult to insert the rubber head (-1 *) on a Chev 454. In the end it worked, I was able to identify TDC on cylinder #1 and install my new distributor correctly.

Great time saver - needs a simple tweak
A must have tool for you box to get TDC without watching for a screwdriver or piece of toilet paper. The rubber end came off on the first use a quick addition of ear-lock compression clamps from the plastic fuel hose kit fixed it right up.
