Quality equal to the cost, mods make it better
My knee "exploded" six weeks ago, and they gave me a brace at the emergency room that was similar in design to this one. The best thing to keep my knee calmed down is to wear a brace all night long, when I'd usually be hurting the joint every time I roll over. So I needed something that would fit comfortably through the night, as well as keeping the knee reasonably immobile through the day. It'll be over a month until my knee replacement surgery. That's 20 hours a day for three months, which requires a much greater quality than what they gave me at the ER. I was impressed with the comfort and quality as soon as I opened the package. The foam padding is pleasant and keeps anything from rubbing, the stays along the side and back are reasonably well encased (unlike the ER version, where they wore through the ends and started stabbing me), and the velcro has little grab-tabs at the ends to be able to peel up and adjust easily--something that was driving me nuts with the old brace. The fact that my knee swells up on a regular basis means that I must adjust the straps without fiddling around, and I sometimes open up the brace just enough to slide an ice pack in there, then use the straps to hold it in place. I have a habit of adjusting things to suit my preferences, so I sewed on a few improvements. The main thing was that I sewed on some straps to run up to a belt, to hold the brace in place rather than having it slide down. They all tend to do that, working their way toward your ankles, and if I could crank the strap down hard above the knee that would be controllable, but part of the exploded-knee was a pocket of swelling right underneath my quadriceps, so cranking those straps down hard isn't an option. The straps going up from the top of the back stays, the top of the outside stay, and the side of the inside stay are able to keep the brace in place whether I'm in bed or up crutching around. If you can sew with even just needle and thread and can get your hands on some nylon strap, this is a worthwhile thing to do while you're laying around waiting for the pain meds to kick in. After my knee replacement (actually a re-replacement, so I know the drill already) I know I will NEED this brace desperately AT NIGHT. During the day, it's PT and walking and bending the knee on purpose. But at night, when rolling over, any side-to-side motion of the knee joint is hell on earth! I'm looking forward to using this brace then, to make it so I can actually sleep when I'm recovering from surgery.

You probably want to get the longer brace
If you are looking to immobilize your knee, you will probably want the longer brace. I am around 5'9" and bough the 16 inch brace. Brace keeps knee immobilized when you are still. When I walk around, it does loosen. I have to constantly tighten it. I don't know if any of these wouldn't fall down.

Better choice than the ortho doctors
I bought this to replace a crappy one that I spent lots of $$$ on (directly from the orthopedic drs office). It was well worth the money for having to wear it all day for 4 weeks. The straps are nice and thick and I was able to tighten this brace enough so it didn’t slip down off my skinny legs. I took one star off bc the straps did shed a little and the fabric picked up some lint. But overall I recommend.

You can adjust the circumference for your leg size!
I almost didn't realize that you can adjust the circumference by moving the parts of the brace that have the straps attached to them (they're attached with velcro), and by looking at other reviews it sounds like some people never realized that. I'm 5'2 and the 16" seems good. I could probably wear the 18" (and that might help to minimize the few degrees of motion I have with this size), but I think it would probably come up uncomfortably high on me. Just got this today, so I can't say how it will hold up, but the quality seems decent.

If it would only stay on it would work great
This brace worked great as long as I didn't walk more then 50ft no matter how I wore it , it would just fall down . When it was on it worked great taking the pressure of the bones grinding in my knee. Im trying to avoid getting shots in it but I guess its the next step if I want the pain to easy up.

Well designed
This works much better than what the hospital gave us, that broke by day 3. And I'll bet it's a fraction of the price.

Ok for shower but wouldn't use all day
It is sturdy and the straps come with a double buckle. But it isn't sitting right after myself and a PT friend played with it. It is the exact size of my other brace. I was able to wash my other brace but will go back to it and use this one for stability in the shower and pool.

Used for fractured patella
Used for my son who had a comminuted fractured patella. Snug, easy to use straps, worked well as a replacement.

Worked well
This was for an elderly man who has no strength in his knee. It helped to move around the home very well

Perfect Fit
This brace was far better than the one I was first prescribed. The directions are clear and the fit is perfect. There are no metal rods pushing out of the back panel and rubbing against my skin which is very risky. I am so grateful to have found my comfort zone with your product. Cheers! ????
