I can finally walk my dog!
I am sooo pleased with this harness. Sturdy, well made, easily adjustable to fit him exactly right. With the leash fastened on his chest, he is learning to walk with me so much better. Because I have control I can train to reduce his reactivity. I can't comment on chewing since he doesn't.

well made
This is a well made harness for the hound. I am not really sure it prevents pulling, but it looks good on the hound.

so if there is even a dog across the street he will bark like crazy, lunge at them
READ if you have a lunger/puller! I have a black lab mix thats 2 years old, he's 61 pounds, and generally kinda of tall lean build. He's always been the biggest dog at the dog park. He was a rescue that has had little to no socialization, leash training, and has some behavior issues, ESPECIALLY with other dogs. He used to lunge at people, we've worked on it, now he just lunges at dogs. He's extremely reactive with dogs, even somewhat aggressive, so if there is even a dog across the street he will bark like crazy, lunge at them, and goes nuts. A no-pull harness with control is a necessity. The day we got him we picked up an easy-walk harness just for convenience at Petco but we quickly found out it rubbed him raw and chafed him. It was terrible for romps, running, or long stretch of activity. So we got him a ruff gear front range for when he's active. It fit him terribly. If he pulled in a certain direction, or if we were trying to get him to move along, the chest piece loosened and sagged and hung from his body, no matter how snug the front and back of the harness was. The final straw was when he went camping and he lunged at a chipmunk... One of the buckles in the front broke (made of plastic) so it was done for. Also the front loop of the harness was nylon/fabric looped sewed on - it gave me serious anxiety cause it could rip. PROS for the Kurgo Tru-fit Harness: -I love the functionality of this harness, it is exactly what I need for my crazy dog! Almost like a mix of the ruffgear and easy walk harness. When clipped from the back, when he pulls the slack where the leash connects to the harness tightens and the harness becomes snug. For the most part, no matter what direction you pull the leash from it tightens. He hasn't tried to back out of it yet, but testing from my living room I think it will tighten and make it hard for him to do so. -The connector for the leash to the harness creates a handheld, which is amazing for when you need to grab your pooch quickly or forcefully which I often find I have to when we encounter a dog unexpectedly :( Great control. -They give you a ten inch lead which I LOVE. We are working on heeling. A 6 foot leash is not always easy to work with. The 10 inch lead gives you more control. Also doubles as a seatbelt tether (I believe you have to loop the seatbelt through the hand hold of the lead and then buckle the seatbelt) haven't tried this yet but I think its going to work way better than the seatbelt tether with the seatbelt buckle and clip at the end. I've tried those and my dog just yanks them out like nothing. -I love the fit of the harness, except for when using the front loop, see below. Overall it looks sleek on him and when he's clipped from the back or off leash it fits great! Great adjustment points. Haven't needed to adjust the back by the belly. Made very well. -Both leash loops look very secure. I have read reviews of the front loop coming off, but when I got it the loop looks very secure and stable. -ANYTIME he is ever clipped on the leash from the back, he automatically pulls. You will lose your arm. But when I clipped the leash on the back he didn't pull as much as he normally does. Hopefully he will get used to the harness and being clipped on from the back and not pull as much. -All buckles are made of METAL! And you can clip and unclip from the sides, so its easy to put on/off. CONS: - The only con I have for this is that when we clip the leash in front it pulls too much to the side, and its a little too much for my comfort. I'm not sure if this is the mix in him, but 9 times out of 10 harness don't fit his deep chest right. Got him a large, and the front of the harness is slightly too big for him when when the back is snug - I'm wondering if a medium will fit him better, as long as the back of the harness will extend enough to fit his chest. Or maybe we will try our luck with clipping onto the back and training him like that.

Fits This Standard Poodle
Upfront, I did not have "crash test worthiness" as my primary reason for buying a harness, so I hope to never find out if this harness is the best one for that scenario. Rather, I was mainly concerned with a dog that loves sightseeing in the car - bounding side to side across the rear seat so as not to miss anything of interest. During warm weather, sightseeing is done with the windows down a bit, hence there has always been a concern with him twisting sideways and pushing out of even a partially open window (deep-chested indeed, but very skinny side-to-side). I was also finding it difficult to find a harness that would fit a deep-chested and narrow-necked doggie and was pleasantly surprised that this (medium size) one fits him just nicely. So here's his "dimensions" that may help someone else decide. Basically, he stands 24" from the floor to top of the shoulder, 18" from the withers to the base of the tail, and weighs 43 lbs. As to the pertinent harness size measurements, when I measured around the neck itself it is a snug/no slack 13". Around the chest just behind the front legs, he measures 26 1/2" (also a snug measurement, no slack included). In the pictures, I have both chest adjustment straps at their absolute maximum length and happily discovered that this leaves a proper (2-3 finger) amount of slack. I had been concerned that the neck opening was going to have too much slack and make for a sloppy front plate fit. But it turned out that the "natural" pull of the harness towards the back area pulls the neckband to a rearward cant. His firm-no-slack neck measurement along that angle is 17" - so so adjusting this section of the harness to about 19" made it a perfect fit. It is nicely loose enough that I can easily slip it back over his head when installing or removing the harness. The harness fits comfortably snug and he cannot get his lower jaw under the harness to chew it - he tried and gave up after about the first 30 seconds and it hasn't seemed to occur to him to do so since. We left it on for a couple of days just to be sure that we didn't have any issues. He didn't pay any attention to it being on him and there have been no rub spots. When walking him (especially) in the evening in our backyard, I have to be wary that there might be various animal invaders that he objects to in his territory. He can pull very hard. So I tried out the front D ring and viola: No pulling. Maybe he read the instructions... So I'm a happy camper.

stop debating AND BUY
absolute life saver when it comes to my dog who pulls and is currently in training for leash-reactivity. Even if your dog is not a puller or leash reactive, I feel the price point of this harness is AMAZING for the quality, design, durability and benefits. Great protection. You NEVER know how your dog can react to a human, dog or loud sound on a walk one day, this harness could save its life.

Perfect for our pooch
Our dog likes this so much better than his halti. I feel safe with him in the car. The only thing I would improve on is having two car clips rather than one so we can have one in each vehicle

Item broke after 4 months' use
This item is adaptable and relatively easy to get on and off. It definitely stops my dog pulling. But 4 months after purchasing, the clasp appears to have started to break - see attached photo. As I am not able to contact the seller because my Amazon 'window' for returns closed at the end of February, the only thing I can do is warn prospective buyers. I cannot recommend this item and also suggest that if you are looking for a harness, you may be better off purchasing from a pet shop where you can take the item back. Very disappointed.

Not how a harness should work
Bought this for my 11 week old retriever and would not recommend. There's no padding on it meaning the straps aren't comfortable and when she was playing with another dog and our leads got caught up the harness began to pull over her head. The neck is too high meaning it'll put stress on her throat. Would have been better with just a collar. After using this for one walk we have been to get her fitted for a Perfect Fit harness which is 100% better and how a harness should perform.

Great harness
I bought this (after reading the reviews on here) for my 6 month old Westie puppy. He is almost 10kgs. The harness fits just fine and there is still room if he grows a little more. It's easy to put on and he just loves being able to sit on the seat and be safe now when traveling. He was in a little crate before but he started to get travel sick in that. Since using the harness he can now see where he is going he hasn't been sick when traveling. I would highly recommend this harness. It's well made, strong and sturdy. Can be used as a walking harness although we haven't yet used it for that as we use a Halti, which works fine.

Good harness
I bought this after reading it was the best harness for a belgian malinois, I don’t know how true that is but it fits well, seems good quality and strong, I have ended up using it on my Staffordshire bull terrier and collie greyhound, it’s quite an adaptable harness

Not sturdy enough
Considering it is supposed to be crash tested and I've used this harness a handful of times, the buckle has broken not impressed. I ordered to trial the harnesses out, for my dog business. I certainly will not use them when this is what happens after a few uses.
