Works great for what I needed it for.

I built a 3 car garage and I work on snowmobiles and 4 wheelers plus other motor operated engines inside the garage. 2 cycle motors can get very Smokey. Carbon dioxide can kill you this fan works great clearing out all the smoke and fumes from the garage . I had to build a screen framed in for the inside of fan to keep the bugs from coming into the garage .

Works well but loud

I have this installed on a ceiling in an updraft orientation. It's runs 24/7 for the past 9 months or so with no hiccups. It's loud, really loud. I have an inline fan controller which works well to dial down the speed and noise but the problem comes down to balance. If I turn this fan down less than 80% it will vibrate horribly as if it's going to shake itself apart. So when buying this, expect it to run at full speed only otherwise buy something else.

Problems with automatic speed control with iliving thermostat

It started out really well. It’s almost a really great attic fan and I like the iliving radio control thermostat with its ability to set the temperature and have three different speeds according to how far over the set temp the temperature is, but after a while I realized there is a problem with the internal programming. When the temperature in your attic gets one° over the temperature of the thermostat, the thermostat turns on low. Everything is fine until the temperature gets 4° over the set temperature. That’s when the thermostat doesn’t seem to know how to control the fan properly and the fan starts turning on and off very harshly making loud noises and clanking noises and sounds like it’s going to burn itself out. My fan eventually did shut itself off with its overheat control. And it started doing that consistently where I could not turn the fan on until after I let it cool down for an hour. It’s almost there, it just needs a good electronics programmer to go in there and fix the programming of the thermostat. It may need a new thermometer that better suits the system as well.

Great fan!

Previously purchased a different brand fan and was very unhappy with the vibration it produced. So I bought this one and only paid around $60 more. It is quieter and does not vibrate. And it seems to have greater air movement. When I go to close the door of my shop with the fan on, the air rushing in makes it so quite a bit of force is required to get the door to latch. With the other 20” fan, you could feel the air, but it really didn’t push on the door much. The only down-side is with the variable speed switch control; when you start turning it down, the fan really hums loudly.

make sure oil ports ate on top of fan

fan came mounted upside down, be sure to rotate to correct orientation before installing; oil ports should be on top; also I did not use recommended speed controller as it should start fan type psc motor on high, then reduce speed; theirs does the opposite and, while it may work, may also wear motor prematurely or be a problem as motor ages; There are many variac controllers that are a better design. the fan itself is not silent but not noisy either, depending on what it is mounted to. A little shutter rattle is normal and you can tell by holding them and rattle ceases. Be sure to check running before installing, I had a slight fan tick which I fixed by slightly bending one blade that was hitting housing. China quality control is noted for being very bad; This is a consumer grade fan but you would have to invest 2-4 times as much for high grade fans and vfd speed controllers would cost almost as much as the fan; Have no idea how long it will last but will only be in use the 2-3 hottest summer months and not 24/7, which is very small compared to Greenhouse use

Just installed and they seem like they'll do the trick!

I have a large 40'x70' shop that holds the heat in really well in the summer. I bought 2 of these 20" fans as that is what would fit between the horizontal 2x4s in the photo. They seem like quality units and only time will tell how they last. I'll probably do a 1yr update (installed 4-2022) and let you know how they do! So far, so good!

20" is a great Greenhouse Fan!!!

I purchased this Iliving 20" Shutter Fan on a Friday evening after a very hot day in my greenhouse, I could not control the heat rise here in Alaska temperatures exceeded 90 deg F in my 12x24 greenhouse. The fan shouwed up on Sunday morning USPS I could not believe that I ordered it Friday night and it arrived Sunday morning. I installed it Sunday afternoon which was very simple if you have any mechanical skills. I wired it into my greenhouse thermostat that controls my heater and my fans. Holy Crap it knows how to move air! I is very quiet for such a large fan, all componets were built very well, shutters worked flawlessly other than I mounted it too tighed in the rough opening and this caused the bottom seal to rub on the flashing I installed, I lowered the flashing and it worked great!. I would recommend this fan to any greenhouse owner that is having rising heat issues. Hopefully it hold up over time but the price $169 was hard to beat for a 20" shutter fan. Damaged fan blade

Fan blade is too large for the casing and it’s getting stuck, clearly a manufacturing defect. Not happy I ended up with a non usable product.

Drops the temperature of 400 sq ft greenhouse by 20 deg!

Not as noisy as expected. Quite heavy. Needs sturdy support to avoid vibrations. Motor well matched to the fan. Does not heat up during warmest days and continuous work.
