solar blanket reel system
This worked great for my purpose. I have to state right up front that the pool for which this was purchased is only 7 feet wide. I bought a used reel which had a minor cosmetic flaw that was of no consequence. Because both ends had handles, I had to saw off the handle on one end to fit in the tight space I had available. Given that it was used and quite inexpensive, this was painless for me. I think this is quite sturdy in my application and it has simplified my previous manual process of placing and removing the cover from my pool. If you have a larger pool (longer span), you will want to get a sturdy pole, which I believe they sell. I was able to use a wooden dowel a little over 1" in diameter, but that was something I already had in my possession. There is a plastic bearing on each end. I can't say for certain if it's durable under a lot of weight. There are some retracting rollers on the bottoms, but I can't say if they're of any use to anyone else. My installation is permanently placed, but since it's so small, I can pick up the whole thing and carry it elsewhere if needed. This is dictated by the size of my pool, not the system.

Not a great product. Look for better options
I purchased this item about two years ago and have regretted it ever since. Today I'm shopping for a replacement since this item has been such a battle. Note the triangle shaped handles that (Do Not Spin!!!) if you real anything the handle should spin! I.e. You have to let it roll in your hand while trying to roll up your heavy cover. My wife refuses to do this now since it hurts her hands. Secondly the bar that the cover winds up on is made of several pieces that slide together and are then bolted together ( not too bad to assemble) BUT when you roll up the wet/ heavy cover it bowes which doubles the effort that it takes to wind and unwind your cover. And that makes it near impossible for one person to unroll the cover. And it slides all over, into the pool even! Frustrating! No offence to whom ever engineered this but it's poorly designed. Spend your money wisely.

Nice product, lousy vendor
It took over 3 months of email and negotiations to get the correct product for my pool. They sent me 1/2 of what I needed and the young girl answering the phones was the worst ever. I could not get them to understand my problem. I finally got what I needed and the winder works pretty good.

Solid product, as advertised
This product is exactly as advertised. I purchased this to utilize the previous solar rail pole that was 25 years old. The old wheel system just collapsed over time and I needed a replacement. Definitely saved money instead of buying a whole new reel system. The pole slides on the plastic casters perfectly, it must be a univeral configuration. I did have to customize the pole a bit due to removal of older wheels but that had nothing to do with this product. The unit comes with proper screws to double secure nothing slips over time. You will need a drill but the screws are self tapping. Project was easier due to having two of us put it together. Pruduct is 100% PVC, heavy duty, well designed and durable.

Not for large pools
The product assembled easily enough and seems sturdy for what it is. However, we have a 20x40 pool and this reel is no match for a pool cover that size. It takes 2 strong people to reel it up and it's very low to the ground so you have to bend way over or be on your knees to operate it. The worst part is the triangular handles that do NOT swivel. Think about how annoying those would be to use before you buy.

The description says "Solar Cover Reel SYSTEM. It is the ends only. False!
For Amazon, this is terrible and false advertising. The entire item and description indicates "all you need except the blanket". I received it and it is the end cranks only. The tube costs another $200 bringing total price to almost $400. This is more than heavy duty highest rated systems. Not what I expect or have ever received from Amazon. Rip off

Be prepared to buy new strapping because the original strapping is of pore quality and doesn't last long.

This does not fit 4 inch tube and that is false advertisement.
The media could not be loaded. Yes the unit is easy to assemble, but it does not fit a 4 inch tube and that is false advertisement. Now I have to modify this unit because if I return it it's going to cost me almost 30 bucks when it wasn't my fault.

poor replacement
Took forever to adapt it to existing axle from same manufacturer, which I had to use because the axle recommended for this model was not available on Amazon or through the manufacturer's site. Less sturdy than their previous model. Very awkward to roll as advertised. Easier just to slide it. Solstice seems to have a monopoly on such equipment, as least on Amazon. Many monopolies abuse their market power. I had bought a second set. Returned it for a refund, readily granted.

Lack of replacement parts for item damaged in transit
The product was correctly described and arrived on time. The package had been damaged in transit with the aluminium tube distorted and plastic end of reel cracked. I got the aluminium tubes to connect and requested a replacement for the damaged end cap - no spare parts only return for a refund. The handle was one package and the reel the other so it would involve disassembling the roller, re-packaging it and returning two packages and I would be left with nothing. I assembled the two units and will repair the end with fibre glass if it catches the solar cover. The ends of the packages require proper ‘buffer material’ to prevent damage.

this product stated that it would fit a 4 inch Solar Blanket roller. I ordered it because my roller is a 4 inch but this was only a 3 inch that I received. It did not match the description in the AD. As a result I returned the product and was charged $27.00.
