Love the size!
Great size and worth the money! I can’t put 4 seedling pans on plus some single small pots all along the horizontal side at the same time. I did buy a second one and I referred it to my friends!!♥️♥️ Perfect for my Greenhouse. I connect it to heat thermometer and it controls the entire pad on when to be on and off! Love it!!!

This heat mat works great.
So there are a lot of heat pads out there. I just needed one that works. That's it. The concept is simple right? But when you start researching all the products out there, it gets confusing. Which one do you buy? You start reading reviews and start reading about fires! Oh hell no. So I did a lot of YouTube reviews on these pads. Finally found one where the guy looked like he knew what he was talking about and found these pads on Amazon. These pads warm up the temp maybe 10 to 15 degrees. So if it is 40 degrees in your basement/greenhouse these pads (and I think all heat pads) will bring the temp up to 55ish. A lot of seeds germinate around 60 to 70 degrees. That being said you're have to wait till early spring or late winter to get the temp up where you need it. They are reliable and accurate in temperature and they make all the difference. I've had them for one year so far so good. They don't get too hot, I don't think that's what you want anyway. They simply raise the temp to where you can germinate seeds. I hope they work this spring as well, so as far as longevity I don't know yet as I've been only using them for a year. Another thing is that the heat is transferred throughout the pad pretty evenly. So even at the edges (2 inches off the edge) you'll get good germination. My germination rates since using these have been close to 100% These pads simply work and they do a good job of it. Happy I got what I thought I was paying for. Bought 6 of them.

For Late Winter Seed Starting Success! (My Setup)
I have used Hydrofarm seedling heat mats, thermostats, and lighting systems for years now and can attest to overwhelming success these have afforded me in getting my garden plants started in late winter. This particular heat mat is a high-quality, reliable, waterproof, and durable. I have used this one, or ones like it for many years now without problems. Heat mats and proper lighting are the key to consistent and prolific germination of seeds started in late winter to be ready for springtime planting. Here's the setup I've used for the past few years: -Park Seed Park's Double Bio Dome with 80 Jumbo Cells. I actually use 2-18 Jumbo Cell for a total of 36 plants. There are several sizes of the Bio-Dome system. I have the DOUBLE Bio-Dome which allows for two seed starting cells (Purchased from Park Seed) -Hydrofarm MT10008 20-by-20-Inch Seedling Heat Mat (Purchased from Amazon) -Hydrofarm FLT24 2-ft/ 4-Tube T5 Commercial System with Bulbs (Purchased from Amazon) -Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat For Heat Mats (Purchased from Amazon) -Style Selections 36-in H x 24-in W x 18-in D 3-Tier Steel Freestanding Shelving Unit (Purchased from Lowe's) The modular, adjustable wire shelving unit gives me the foundation for my indoor winter seed-starting setup. The shelves are adjustable so that I can hang the grow light on the underside of the top shelf, then adjust the middle shelf so that the top of the Bio Dome is about 6-8 inches from the light. This allows for enough room to remove the top of the Bio Dome in the event I need to access the plants for watering, fertilizing, etc. The bottom shelf is great for storing my remaining planting supplies. The light is almost the same size as the Double Bio-Dome and provides 100% light coverage necessary for young plants to thrive. A few years back, I tried to use a light that was only 2 bulbs and half the size of the one I currently use. You could tell that the young plants would angle toward the light hanging in the middle, and those on the outer edges didn't grow as quickly and tall as those in the middle. Take it from someone who spent $25 - $50 each year over the course of several years trying to find a light that would work well with my seed starting system. I knew about the Hydrofarm light early on, but wasn't too eager to purchase it due to it's higher cost. I wish I would have gotten it first because I would have saved money in the long run considering the poor-performing lights I purchased in years prior to getting the one listed above. The Park Seed Bio Dome is an extraordinary seed-starting system that allows your plants to grow quite large without root binding problems found in other tray-type seed starting setups. Park uses the styrofoam cell matrix with replaceable organic bio-sponges in which the seeds are planted. I regulate the temperature of the seed heat mat with the Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat set at between 85-90 degrees. This thermostat has a temperature probe you can insert into one of the organic bio-sponges to obtain a direct soil reading. I route the probe through one of the vent holes in the lid of the Bio-Dome. In order to capture the most heat from the heat mat, while allowing the thermostat to regulate the temperature of the mat, I first take a folded beach towel and place it on the middle shelving rack. I then set the heat mat on top of the towel, then place the Bio-Dome on top of the heat mat. This allows me to recover most of the heat that would otherwise radiate from the exposed, bottom side of the heat mat. Watering with the Bio-Dome setup is easy and, depending on how you have the vents adjusted in the lid, performed infrequently at best due to the efficiency of water vapor recovery of the Bio-Dome system. I typically start tomato and pepper plants in mid-February so that they are ready for planting by the first week of May. You may want to check online for your indoor planting and outdoor transplanting dates depending on your region and climate. I hope my sharing with you what has worked quite well for me will help you in your seed-starting endeavors!

Seems great
Arrived nicely and securely packed, flat and lays flat and got warm on the test run when I arranged my seed starting station. One think I missed, though, is that it's either on or off depending on whether or not it's plugged in...there is no on/off switch so in case your outlet is hard to reach you may need an extension cord to make it easier if you're all creaky like me and don't bend so well

An easy solution for finicky plants and for starting veggies early!
These have worked well for a few seasons now, and have produced healthier plants than I could using light alone. I purchased two, and that has been enough to pump out a steady stream of seedlings for my small garden. I found that these fit neatly under most standard, rectangular seedling trays. They have never overheated, even when I let the soil go dry! They have proven to be well made and have a smooth, rubbery texture. The manufacturer specifically says to not get them wet or submerge them in water, but they have not failed even though I have subjected them to this adverse, unadvised condition. As long as you store them flat, and do not fold them, they should last for many years. The extra warmth gives your plants a big boost in their beginning stages; my bush beans and peas have grown colossal, and it's barely mid-may! The heat is also really good for maintaining tropical and desert plants. Depending on the species, some exotic plants can start looking a bit sad if your climate is too cold. I would recommend these to anyone who starts plants indoors before the frost is gone, or who has unique plants that only flourish in hot climates.

Heat Map warning on the packaging missing from the description
I am happy that the heat map arrived on time and it seems to work although I am yet to trial it out for some seedlings. However on the packaging it states "California state - cancer and reproductive harm". I didn't see this on the advertisement. And, now I'm not so sure whether I got a quality product or what is contained in this product. It is worrisome and concerning. I wish this would have been advertised with transparency before I made the purchase. If the manufacturer could respond to this with recommendations it would alleviate my concern.

Gave my seeds an awesome start!
I knew a heat mat would help get my seeds started and after a hard time last year without a mat, I opted to find out for myself how helpful it would be. It wasn't even 48 hours and I could see some seed sprouts coming up! It's been 2 weeks & I have had to move most seedlings to bigger pots as they were quickly outgrowing the starter trays I had them in, I still use the mat, for my variety of peppers mostly. I will be ordering more mats before next growing season as I'm very impressed with how much it helped and will most certainly enjoy a great harvest this fall in our garden thanks to the heat mat.

Great for maintaining temperature during dark cycles on the grow room
The products first release boasts about the ability to interconnect them but didn’t have it listed the need to purchase additional cord. I purchased three of these types and then recently after seeing the add on Mats for sale purchased these connecting mats. Over all would of been 5 stars if they did proper marketing in the first place. Need to have a heat mat temperature controller to control the temp or they will be constantly on.

Great for Kombucha
I'm so glad I got this when it was still $27. All other Canadian suppliers I've seen offer similar products at a much higher price which to me is too expensive. Since winter began, I have started using this for my kombucha. It helps speed up the fermentation time very quickly - within 1.5-2 days I can start to see a 1/8 baby scoby developing. I don't place this underneath the jars because I hear that can overstimulate the yeast at the bottom. I let the mat heat the jars along it's sides. I try to avoid putting the mat directly on the jar because it can get really hot which can cause a yeast/bacteria imbalance or harm the scoby. I can't afford the thermostat ATM but I have left it on all night for weeks and it seems to work fine. Another seedling brand I'd consider is Root Radiance offered at the Amazon.com site - you can get it shipped to Canada for $30 total which is still cheaper than what is being offered currently. I haven't tried it yet but the reviews seem positive. Today I discovered a cheaper alternative (depending on size) called Flexwatt heat tape that works similar to this seedling mat that is usually used for warming up reptile tanks. You can even add a dimmer or thermostat on it. You can buy the parts separately and assemble yourself at your own risk or find a company like Reptile Basics or Incubator Warehouse that pre-assemble it for you with the cord or dimmer. The great thing about Flexwatt is that you're able to customize the width and length of the mat - making it as long as you'd need it (within manufacturer safety limits) or if you have several projects going on, you can attach several mats using one thermostat to control all the mats such as a rack system. I will consider buying one in the future as seedling mats and reptile mats are too expensive here in Canada. It looks exactly like the same material Kombucha Kamp and Fermwrap use at 1/3 of the price.
