Lasts for ever

I have a few from my parent's house that were installed in the early '70s. There are a number that are in stores in central Texas that have been running for over 70 years. They move a lot of air and are very quite.

High-Quality, Industrial Standard equipment. Fear Not.

Absolutely sublime. Quality build. The Chinese are coming along well in their ability copy superiour Western technology. Short of a restored antique original fan, and I advocate this and use restored fans in most all of my architectural projects, this Hunter fan is "no slouch" nor a piece of rubbish, as it were. These use Real öill, and it easy get excited with lubrication, and over lubricate. I use Royale Purple fan öill, available online. Over lubrication results in drips on the floor. If you want something as close to a real, authentic Hunter fan of the 1800s, heavy cast iron in feel and charachter, this my friend is it. Heavy, appears be built well, and if I were gamble, and I have done, these shall be with us in 100 years. If not, then this the best without obtaining a Deutsche made unit, still made in Deutschland. I have not seen one, yet. You shall like the purchase. I suggest you purchase one and try it. You shall be ordering more after you view this up close.

Worth Every Penny!

It is very important that you know this fan is VERY heavy — about 70 pounds. We had to add a brace in our attic to hold it. And the light kit was Westinghouse, but it fits and operates beautifully. We also bought a remote control, because we are lazy. :) This fan is lovely; the craftsmanship is first rate. And so quiet! It makes virtually NO noise on the lowest setting. (Because of the lighting, the fan looks yellow in the photo, but it is wonderfully white). Lastly, I deferred to my friends in the south, and bought a rod to suspend the fan 12” from the ceiling for optimum air circulation. We are thrilled with this purchase.

Best, longest-lasting ceiling out there

This is what all ceiling fans should be compared to. Good, heavy cast-iron housing. Oil bath for the rotating bearings. Highest speed WILL blow loose papers around the room--just what you need if you need to cool down fast. The sound is just that of wind (almost a nice rain-like sound), no knocking, ticking, or squeaking. It's too bad they've gotten so expensive and had to move production to China.

Beautiful and Heavy Duty Fan... strange detail made it through QC, though?

This is a BEAUTIFUL fan and is absolutely bulletproof! Details are very important for our historic home renovation. This fan fits the bill. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I'm not sure about the quality. Why you ask? Because when I opened the package I found that the actual HUNTER badge had been riveted on UPSIDE DOWN! Right next to it were several QC initial stickers. I figure this fan was looked at by 4 or 5 people before being put in a box. I let customer service at Hunter know and they were very friendly. At the end of the day, it's not a big deal to the function of the fan, but when you pay this much for a fan and the details are REALLY important, you would expect that something like this wouldn't have sneaked through. I have high expectations it will run forever based on the review and quality products that Hunter makes, but I couldn't give it a high rating knowing that it made it all the way to my doorstep with their very own badge on upside down. I AM very much excited to have it hanging in my home and will more than likely purchase 3 more for the porches if it proves to stand up to Hunter's long standing reputation for great products.

Good News, Bad News

The fan was shipped promptly. The box was intact, double-boxed. The fan is functionally perfect, a Hunter Original, of which I have owned several. They are practically indestructible, run smoothly and quietly, and only need to be re-oiled about every ten years. The bad news? Hunter Fan tells me that this is a 2013 fan, model no. 23845, which is now discontinued. Not only that, the seller is not a franchised Hunter dealer. My fan is, therefore, not only discontinued and no longer supported, with parts no longer manufactured, but it is not covered by Hunter new product warranty. Perhaps I failed to read the fine print, but did not see any indication that I was buying a discontinued, unwarranted ceiling fan. In my opinion, this should have been conspicuously noted in the product information. The price should also have been reflective of these facts. I am quite disappointed. The fan was installed when I discovered this news, and appears to be functioning perfectly, as one would expect from Hunter.. I shall hope that this good fortune continue, and my experience with these fans tells me it probably will. As for the fan itself, I would never own anything other than a Hunter Original . In this particularly case, however, if the fan should malfunction, it is mine to deal with.
