Looks Like an Accessory Instead of a Medical Device

I bought this quad cane for my elderly mother, to replace a standard cane she was using, and which had not provided any stability. This quad cane by Hugo is very pretty and she liked it, but basically refused to use it, because she claimed it was too heavy and hurt her shoulder. We went back and forth over this until I finally insisted she switch over to this quad cane. Other canes I looked at were heavier by quite a bit! This one is under a pound, I think. I couldn’t find any others that were lighter in weight. Long story short: my mother is now using this cane regularly (and I hope exclusively) as she needed the convenience of a cane that stands right where you put it and doesn’t fall over. She has gotten use to the weight and feel of it. The base is somewhat “tippy” and doesn’t stand flat, but the feet could be adjusted I think. That’s the only negative I can report on. Otherwise a great product and the lovely color helped my mother accept using it (that and telling her she HAD TO... Lol.) Love the handle grip—it’s like soft silicone and fits the hands very comfortably. I would recommend this quad cane.

very stable

First i want to address some of what I have read in other reviews. The base is made of welded metal. It is extremely sturdy. The feet are offset. If you put it together backwards it is less stable. But the pole attached to the bottom is reversible (I didn't realize that at first, my PT person fixed it) Just push the button in and turn it. The straight legs go next to your body. The offset legs point outward. It is extremely light weight. It stands on its own. If you can walk fast, you can use just the back legs and it is stable and fast to use. It does take a little practice to get used to, especially if (like me) you are going from a single point cane to this. It adjusts easily. But you have to tighten down the screw at the bottom or it will wiggle. All in al I love mine. I highly recommend it for anybody who needs a stable cane.

Excellent cane, Hugo is great product

I love Hugo products. They are well made, sturdy, and properly engineered. This cane is no exception. Listed weight capacity is 300 lb. but it seems sturdy enough for higher. What I love about it: — soft molded handle — wrist strap — ring wrist strap hangs on big enough to hang keys, coin purse or flashlight — very adjustable for height — dusty rose color — sturdy 4 prong design — height lock What I don’t love: — weight. 2 lbs. I am big and tall, not frail, yet using this for an hour at a time would be too much. However, since my plan is to use it only where my walker can’t go, it will be ok. I rigged it up to carry on my walker for when I need to use steps or otherwise can’t fit or use my walker. I was concerned a lighter folding one would not be stable enough for my weight. I definitely would recommend, except for a frail or weak person for whom the 2 lb weight is too much.

This cane is changing my life

Okay... Can I just tell you how freaking thrilled I am with this cane!! I've been super self conscious about the fact that I'm 33 and now use a cane as a daily part of my life and the only one I was able to get from my insurance was this silver metallic one that just SCREAMS medical/hospital equipment. I've had a lot of difficulties because I'm 5'8" and 275 pounds.... And it just seems like none of the other canes support my height and weight. This cane is light weight and easy to maneuver. It's extremely sturdy and I went with the small base, which I'm extremely grateful I did because it's pretty big for a small. However, don't be discouraged about this, because it makes it even sturdier than my insurance bought cane. The quad tips aren't just made of soft rubber, they are firm and durable - which if you are a daily cane user, you know that I speak the truth when I say that worn out quad tips are the bane of my existence. What I love the most though, is the color. It's a dusty rose pink with a black matte base and I really just feel so happy using it and that I'm making it more of a required accessory rather than the thing that screams, hey, I'm disabled. And for the price, I am amazed at the quality. I will definitely be a lifelong Hugo customer

Extra sturdy, light enough to carry anywhere, holds up great!!!!! Black color....small base

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quad cane. I was always a very active,, hard working person....until a lung disease entered into my body. Now it is harder to breathe with every step i take....so this extremely active person stayed home now. I never envisioned the golden years being like this. That is until my husband decided to find me a way to be secure yet still safe. I used a walker when shopping but I missed my walks and going to the parks with my service dog, and visiting the kids and their familys. My husband looked online and found this quad cane. I had a regulr cane but it just wasn't sturdy and my legs were too wobbly. With this quad small base I can feel safe and with practice my legs are working a little. Enough that I can enjoy outings again, and visiting and it is a whole new life. My Hugo quad is always with me. Even my doctors are impressed at my new outlook on life. Now I am ordering a second one..Thank you so much for this safe and secure feeling I have using your small base quad.

All seemed great until the weight became as issue.

When the Hugo cane arrived I really liked the color. It seemed stable and very sturdy. I like the quad cane because I have a balance problem and I do tip and fall and the 4 ‘feet’ help keep me verticle. I ordered it awhile back but until this Easter Sunday I have rarely left the house. It was a beautiful warm blue sky day when I went for a walk with my Hugo (my affectionate name). It’s only 3 driveways to the corner. The Hugo is a beauty but my right shoulder was starting to hurt from lifting it. It is a VERY heavy cane. I am not a weakling, the cane is much much heavier than other quad canes I own. I am sorry this is so, it would have been my favorite. It would probably be better for a large man but then I don’t think a man would like a pretty pink rose cane. Oh, I turned around, picked up the cane, carried it crosswise, then walked back home.

Comfortable grip, Sturdy and She loves the pink colour!

Arrived fast and in good condition. This was a gift for my Mom who is '5 1" and just under 200lbs. My Mom has her's set at the 2nd to last notches from the very bottom, therefore this would work for someone under 5Ft tall. She loves the pink colour, the comfortable grip, the sturdiness of the 4 prongs! But did mention that she does find it a bit on the heavier side then her standard cane. Myself I can feel a slight difference in the weight, but for a senior having to use it all day its apparently noticeble enough. She is happy with this can but just wishes it was a bit lighter.

Mala calidad

La empuñadura del bastón, llegó dañada (ver fotos), además, uno de los agujeros para fijar la altura venía golpeado y para terminar, las patas no son simétricas lo que estéticamente se ve mal hecho. Por otro lado, los tapones de las patas no permiten graduar su altura ó largo y entonces eso provoca que el bastón sea inestable y cojeé. Solicité su devolución...!

Great cane!

I had a freak accident which caused a compound fracture both sides of ankle. I've gone from a wheelchair to a walker and physio said I could use a cane now in the house but get the one with four prongs for stability while I learn to walk all over again. Well I can't say enough good about this product! It's perfect!

Buy an extra package of quad replacement tip was my only complaint

Great product! My disable sister loved the quality and colour of this quad cane. My sister is only 4 feet 2" in height and over 250 lbs. Only complaint is it super hard to get a the correct quad replacement tips, it would have been nice if we had an option on Amazon to purchase on extra package. I am having a very hard time finding the correct cane replacement tips.

Good cane

This is a great cane. I took off 2 stars because the first one came missing the bolt at the bottom. The replacement was sent right away but now I have to pack and send the other back. Otherwise it’s perfect
