Well made, not too hard to install. Cheaper than a new molded cable.
My five year old original equipment connector just quit gripping the tow vehicle connector. Yes you can work with a small thin file to burnish the seven contacts and use contact cleaner spray. But in our case the metal contacts have become weak and do not grip. The hardest part is making certain the right wire goes to the right connector inside the new plug. Also be sure to put some dielectric grease on the connectors to prevent any future corrosion.

Solved my "trailer brake disconnected" error from RAM pickup
RAM trucks are pretty sensitive to old style, molded connectors on travel trailers. I cut the old one off and replaced with this. Absolutely zero error messages on 500 mile return trip, even on poor roads.

Fixed "Check Trailer Brake Wiring" issue on 2021 Ram 2500!
I started getting the infamous "Check Trailer Brake Wiring" error on my '21 Ram 2500 this spring. My trailer is only 2 years old but I went ahead & checked out all the wiring. All good there but I was still getting the error and it gradually got more frequent until finally it was constant. Read on Ram forums that this plug was the only Ram approved 7 way connector so I gave it a shot. My original plug was a molded (wires were completely encapsulated) unit so I had to hack and cut away the rubber until I could see where the wires previously went. This was a pain in the rear but to no fault of this product. Wired it all back to the new connector and VOILA, problem solved!! Time will tell if its fixed for good but at least I can now get in and re-make connections if there are more issues.

High quality medium duty connector.
I purchased 2 of these for jobs scheduled for next week. Amazon has the best price for a quality product especially with the add on program. I read all the customer reviews just killing time. Speaking as a person who has done automotive repair for over 30 years and a certified master technician for over 20 years. The wiring diagram in the box is correct, you just have to view it properly as the manufacturer intended. It is viewed from the rear of the connector where you attach the wires not from the front of the connector. If your tow vehicle is wired incorrectly you will have to wire the trailer connector to match or correct the towing vehicles electrical connector. Different manufactures of automobiles and trucks use different color wires. Trailer manufacturers usually use the standard wire colors of Brown = Tail lights. Green = right turn. Yellow = Left turn. White = Ground. Blue = Trailer brakes. Battery = Red or Black. Back up = Purple or Violet.

Overall solid product but diagram doesn't match up with 2013 Tundra.
It is plastic but has good solid feel to it. BUT...Not only are the instructions wrong but so is the mold that made this connector. I used this connector to wire up a "Four Wheel" Cab-over Pop-up camper to a 2013 Tundra that came with a stock tow package. I only needed to run the Ground Wire and the Positive Wire to the camper. All of the poles are labeled (molded into the plastic) but I know for a fact that the power and ground are mislabeled. You will need to run the "White Wire" to the "Black" pole on this connector and the "Black Wire" to the "White" pole on this connector. In other words, reverse the ground and the power wires when wiring this connector. Other reviewers have also mentioned this mistake.

Works fine. Don't use adapters.
There are all types of adapters out there to make switching from seven to five to four blade connections. Trouble is, with each adapter you add in another potential point of failure. Direct is the way to go, absolutely. If you must hook up electricity from your vehicle to different towed units having different blade configurations, get an auto electrician to install a panel on the back of your vehicle with the required direct-wired inputs that accept the plugs you have. I found this out the hard way: The five to seven adapter I had was flimsy and did not make solid connections with the seven prong end of my truck's electrical feed. It drove me nuts. Clipping off that five-prong end from my RV was a huge relief. I wired on this unit, and all was instantly well. Don't mess with adapters. If you do, sooner or later you'll find out exactly what I'm talking about, here.
