Might or might not need re-wiring depending on your application
I saw this product for sale at an RV shop for $10 more than I paid at Amazon. The materials are good quality (and mine has "Hopkins" imprinted on it, for what it's worth). The gauge of the wires is heavier than you get with a lot of 4-wire flat wiring kits. You get about three feet of wire with it, which is more than I needed for my application - but I don't have a cable stretcher so I always appreciate some extra. The 7-way round receptacle can be easily taken apart for repair or rewiring by loosening one screw, removing two others, and pushing the plug out of the receptacle from the back by grasping the wire bundle and pushing on it. This pops the plug forward and exposes the connectors. The 4-way flat plug on the other end is molded and cannot be taken apart. This is because the 4-way flat has only one standard configuration, while the 7-way round has options. The fact that some people have to rewire this product for their needs is not a reflection of poor quality. There are a lot of different wiring options for various applications. For example, brakes or not, back-up light or not, emergency brake battery charger or not, etc. This product is wired for one option by default, and it has the flexibility to be changed to meet your needs. In my case, my trailer has brakes and a battery, no back-up light. For a short time, I'll be towing the trailer with a vehicle that has a standard 4-way flat, which does not support brakes, back-up lights, or emergency brake battery chargers. The tow vehicle's brakes will be adequate (and legal in the state I will be doing this). So I just need an adapter to get the tow vehicle's wiring to work the turn/tail/brake lights, and NOT the wheel brakes or the emergency brake battery charger. When I plugged this adapter in, the turn signals and brake lights worked, but the running lights did not. If I turned on the running lights, the brake lights stopped working. Obviously it needed to be re-wired. In my case, all I needed to do was remove the white wire, take the pale blue wire out of the center (NOT the pale blue one around the edge), put a blade/fork on the pale blue wire, and connect it where the white one had been. I tucked the white one back out of the way and reassembled the adapter. That took care of my wiring needs, and now all lights work in all combinations. Your mileage may vary. If you have the same setup as mine, you can follow these directions. If you don't, then you'll need to figure out your wiring or get help. It's a good kit.

Top Notch
Very High Quality stuff. Installation was a breeze as the colors practically remain the same from my Avalanche harness. Will see how it holds up to salt air and water.

Good but dumb grounding.
I don't understand why they don't run a ground wire from the 7 pin to the 4 flat. I need this as it's a back up for my car trailer in the event that I need to tow my car trailer (empty) with my Jeep. The Jeep has a 4 flat and only needs a 4 flat. However, in the unfortunate event that whatever is towing the Jeep on the trailer breaks down, I need lights on the trailer. I think they think you are doing a permanent install with this (and no one wants to get around trailer brakes) and so they want you to ground it to the body. I bought a 4 flat plug to replace the one that's installed and ran the ground to it from the 7 pin plug. So I essentially made my own adapter. It works.

Works well.. after you re-wire it.
I had read a review about some people having to switch around a few wires. I ordered this product to attach my 2005 Honda Pilot to my new (to me) 1992 Coleman pop up camper. After the initial connection only the lights on the left side of the camper worked.. they actually worked too well since they stayed on all the time, even though they shouldn't have. The back-up light on the left side would not go out but the one on the right side would not come on. After a trip to the hardware store with a friend who actually knew what he was doing, we got the stuff to cut and splice the wires on the adapter. After playing around for a few minutes we learned that the back up light should actually be connected to the "ground wire". Ground wire is in " because it actually controls the white back up lights on camper. Good product after the modifications. Good length and does the job it was made for. Quality materials and ready for some nice fall camping in Maine.

Used to connect 7-way travel trailer to Honda flat connector (with modifications).
I used this adapter for my Honda Highlander "flat" connector, so I could hook up a rented travel trailer requiring a 7 way connector. The travel trailer brake controller also required 12V at 6 amps, which is not supplied by the flat connector. I took the 12 volts off of the DC accessory connector in the cargo section of the Highlander, with a slow-blow 10 amp inline fuse - just in case. The RV rental place was a little dubious of my hashed together adapter, but they hooked it to a tester and it proved to be okay. It hung together and worked perfectly for our vacation. We blew no fuses and didn't crash and burn.

There are a few IMPORTANT steps
I thought it would be like "plug and play". I plugged it in and nothing happened. I am sure that the directions told me what to do, but those got tossed as soon as the item was opened... I'm a guy! You NEED to drill a hole into the frame of your vehicle and firmly attach the ground wire. I do not have power running from my car to the RV battery because I have not yet hooked up the two wires that are hanging loose. I will figure that out next season. But, the lights are up and running just as they should. I have not had any problems with the electric breaks considering that the trailer does not have any. The only downside that I can see is that my car does not have any good place to mount the adapter. I gues that is not the fault of the adapter though.

Two connection
This has worked well, they provide two different plug assembly, one for 4 pin trailer connection and other for round 7 pin electrical connector! Great it worked out well for my application
