Does not come with a drum stick
NIce toy. Purchased as a gift. It would of been nicer if it came with a stick.

Baby and grandma both love this ocean drum
Our 1-year old daughter absolutely loves this drum. She shakes it and bangs on it with hands or other toys. She looks at the fish and makes excited noises and she likes to feel the stars. It's become one of her favorite toys. I make the ocean sounds for her since you have to move the beads around slowly. When she does it it's more like a rattle. Of course it doesn't sound like a "real" ocean drum, hence the low price. I would definitely say that this should be played with under supervision just in case the child stomps on the drum and the beads come out. I'm glad I got this for her. We both enjoy it a lot.

good but wish it was more sturdy
My son loves it! I thought it would a be a little nicer for the price. The plastic on both sides is thin. I'm worried one good whack will be all it takes. It's only day three so time will tell. He really seems to like playing with it though.

Not quite an ocean drum
We first used the kid-sized ocean drum in our baby music class and my 10 month old loves playing with this drum. It's fun to see the beads move around as you rock the drum back and forth, and Amazon had a great price ($11) at the time I purchased this. I recommend this drum to other parents of young toddlers with two caveats: (1) It is not indestructible - if you have a child that might stomp on or bang the drum on things with edges, the plastic will bend, so it might be best to make this a supervised toy. (2) It's not like a real ocean drum. If you've played with a large ocean drum, that sounds very much like the ocean, know that that's not what you're getting with this toy. It's still fun, and it still makes noise, but it's not same (as you'd expect from an inexpensive children's toy).

My twins love it!
We are part of a local playgroup that meets a couple times each week, and this is one of the go-to toys my 1yr old twins pick to play with while there. I finally decided to search for it and get them one to have at home. Some people might be concerned with the small beads in the drum but it seems very well put together- they bang pretty hard on it (and our cats scratch at the clear plastic cover trying to get to the insides), and it's holding up great so far (we've had it for several months.

My son is 22 but mentally at a 2 year level and these have always been his favorite! Great price and sturdy!

Annoying Toy
If you want a toy that makes an actual drum sound, this toy is NOT for you. You have to bang on it pretty hard for it to sound remotely like a drum, and the sound it makes when you move it is louder than the rainstick we bought. My daughter hates this, I typically find it under her bed or pushed under the door of her closet.

Highly entertaining
The Hohner wave drum was a present for my nephew's first birthday, and it was a huge hit. He was so fascinated with the drum that it was opened for Jim to play with while the other gifts were opened. The beads really captured his attention. My lo, 10 months old, found the drum amazing as well.
