Work as intended
Got them to transfer mounting holes on my ls to a braket I was making

Very good for the money....but had to return one of them as faulty.
I tested these on an aluminum project and they worked pretty good. The points are fairly sharp and seemed to hold up for the one project and look to still have plenty of life left. The points aren't perfectly centered but close enough for what I was doing...maybe within .015in, maybe less, but probably better than the threaded hole. The handle part that holds the screws is made of aluminum and appears to be painted black as I don't think its anodized. The hex tip on the end is steel and is pressed into the aluminum handle. The press seems tight on the set I received and no problems yet....like it coming out or spinning. The hex hole in the tip looks like it wad stamped into the end and on the two items I purchased was definitely off center...a lot, visually noticeable. It probably didn't affect the operation I was doing and probably never will really except maybe if I would have wanted to screw the screws in deeper and the size of the tip is problematic for that anyway since it is bigger diameter than the minor diameter of the threaded hole. Do you get that....the outer diameter of the hex tip is bigger than the minor diameter of the threaded hole so you can only screw these in so far and the tool will hit and then the hex's will disengage each other at some point after screwing a little further. In my case it was deep enough but I could imagine cases where that could be a problem...and at times I was afraid I might not be able to unscrew it if I went to far. The cap on the back end is steel and screws and fits nice. I didnt have a problem getting the screws on these 1/4-20 tips but I could see that happening with the improper size combinations of screws and tube inner diameter. The main problem I experienced was that there was no lead in chamfer on the lower end where you start the screw so it was just a little difficult getting them started but they all worked fine once I got them screwed in....just a little problematic not cross-threading on the start. I think for the money these are a pretty good deal. I normally like to buy American and the American ones I've used in the past didn't have the interference problem with the hex tip outer diameter and the minor diameter of the threaded hole. So if you really need to screw these in to there absolute depth to where the tip is barely projecting (down to .050in) then these probably won't work, otherwise can't beat the price for what you get. Update after full use: I had to return one set since several of the transfer screws were faulty and were cross threaded. I think these are pressed because the way the threads were completely offset from one side to the other. So out of purchasing two sets of these 1/4-20 one set had to return. I also used these again and they seem to work ok but not nearly as good as the USA made set I have. I also see the price has almost doubled now on some of the sizes and as much as the USA made. So might as well buy the better set now. I also docked another star for having to send the one set back. 4 stars with the above mentioned problems and now 3 stars because I have to return one set. I would rate the USA made set I have 5 stars. Not sure why the price has increased. Amazon prices change like the stock market.....no rhyme or reason.

Works great!
This is one of those tools that indispensable when you need it. I was able to transfer punch an aluminum piano hinge easily. No other easier way to do it. Yes you can measure but that’s a lot of work for a one off. Just screw these in with the tip proud of the surface. Align and place your part, whack it a bit and then center punch the indents. I have bought the rest of the sizes I use most often already. I can defnietly recommend this.

well worth the money, but need a little tweaking
After reading the negative reviews I was a little wary of these, but mine arrived in fine condition. The reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars is that I had to run the 5/16" - 18 screws thru a die to get them to go all the way in. Also, the handle is larger than the minor diameter of 5/16" - 18 threads, had to make my own wrench to get them further in so only the very t ip of the point sticks out. Easy to make from a 10-24 socket screw, just turn down the head.

A good tool to have
Nice starter set, a more comprehensive set would be great

Good value for the money.
Would have preferred internal storage of the buttons

Poor quality, but at a fair price
My set of 4 SAE sizes looked more like the advertised picture than some of the customer supplied images did. Still, they were a bit crude and needed some filing to work. One of the larger sizes had a partially detached thread. For the occasional user with time to clean them up they are just fine and about 75% of the cost of a proper set from an industrial supply house.

Saves drilling unnecessary holes. So far they have made countless marks ...
I'm an aspiring pattern maker at a foundry, I use these transfer screws to transfer threaded hole locations to mount new parts that are going on various mold plate. Saves drilling unnecessary holes. So far they have made countless marks in plastic, hardened aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, tool steel, and B2 tooling steel. Not one have I needed to resharpen, all of them still have a very nice point and are machined well enough that they are not easy to cross thread. The cheapest part of the set is the driver/capsule that stores the transfer screws, I have 8 different thread sets and a few of the driver ends came loose. The driver end is just pressed on so repressing it back on was quick and easy. I definitely recommend these, you won't be disappointed. Andrew S.

I guess you get what you pay for
Poor quality, some points are not concentric, the tool has a poor hex broach, very soft material

Nice product!
I was expecting 6 universal screws for either blind hole or thru hole as my last set was, but got 3 of each instead! Otherwise, this products works as expected.
