No proper socket is available

This does not fit a standard Mini Relay socket. It will plug in sideways due to the configuration of the pins BUT it has retainer clips on the sides of the Relay that interfere with full insertion so it sits up above the socket a little with a gap between the relay and the socket, exposing the bare spade pins. It would allow crude to get it there so I wouldn't use it that way. Need to just use discrete wires rather than a socket I guess. I checked all the suppliers and they say Hella doesn't make a socket for it. It does appear to be a nice quality relay.

Great little relay for automotive audio/video applications. I bought one of these to provide +12V power to a pair of rear-facing headrest DVD players in my 2012 Chevy Silverado. GM doesn't make it easy to provide power to such devices off of the factory Retained Accessory Power (RAP) - the same feed that powers the factory stereo for awhile after the ignition is turned off. Switching one of these relays from a low amperage RAP feed on my aftermarket radio allowed me to feed a high amperage +12V supply to the headrests. It fit nicely in some open space behind the drivers-side fuse box cover.

One of three I've ordered was defective

It's "Made in Germany" but one of the fuse terminals was not welded on strongly enough; when they put it into the blue plastic shell it broke off. It arrived with the terminal loose inside the shell--the fuse was in place but held by only the other terminal. I don't see how they could've tested it and passed it. I bought three of them, so 3/5 stars for 2/3 success rate. I've had Hella relays before and none have failed or arrived defective, and I've ordered two more of these since--one to replace the one defective one, and a spare. Also note that the integrated fuse holder on the side of the housing makes it too wide to fit in interlocked relay sockets.

Neat idea

I like the idea of integrating the fuse with the relay. I don't like that the construction is a little flimsy and that it's possible to break the relay through rough handling installing/removing the fuse. Also may not fit in a fuse block where there are multiple relays as the fuse part makes the relay's footprint slightly larger than standard.

Replacement head light relay

I needed these relays for the Hella headlights I put in my 1971 Toyota landcruiser. I was sold the originals by Man-A-Fre, and told to use them because these light use a lot more power than the stock lights. I have burned out 2 relays in 10 years. These were not available locally and the Amazon price was much better. works great now.

Great Little Gizmo

I'm a collector of vintage cars. Electrical work is something I've always shied away from. This versatile little device, incorporating a fuse and mounting bracket, helped make installation of new old stock fog lights on a 56 year old automobile a breeze (relatively speaking). It's compact and simple to mount in place. Hella has a reputation of very decent quality.

just not a good design.

I HAVE to use these relays for my lights, They keep burning out after about a year. I have been back to the shop, no wiring or location issues, just not a good design.

Worked great. Second time using these

Worked great. Second time using these. Just don't take the heat very well. But my jeep runs pretty hot under the hood.
