Just what I needed
I wanted this light because having the front porch light on all night long attracts insects. So I wanted one that only comes on briefly when someone comes to the door to knock, or my wife and I will come back in the evening from someplace and having the light come on briefly to help us unlock the door is super nice. I'm really glad I got this thing.

Yes, it's true, this IS the same light we originally purchased at our local Home Depot . . .
. . . for more than $20 EACH. So, of course, we hightailed it back to HD to return those bad boys (HD only had 4 of them in stock anyway) and then proceeded to order all 7 that we needed here. Installation was relatively easy, and you'll need at least 2 people to tweak the motion detection adjustments. They are smaller than the average exterior light. However, they still fit within the overall scale of our house. All that to say, the lights are a nice addition to our exterior property updates, and, more importantly, mama is pleased.

Works
The light arrived in it's original box with out any packing. I was a little nervous that it might be damaged in transit because of this but it appeared to be in good condition. After the electrician installed the light it appears to be working well. This was a replacement for another one I had which was the exact same one which lasted about 8 years and I hope this one lasts longer.

Great and inexpensive secondary outdoor light
One of the lights by a side door at our home is on a switch located in the garage, meaning every time we want to turn the light on or off, we need to go out in the un-heated garage to do so. This motion sensing light is cheap (much less expensive than anything I could find at the hardware store), it looks good (note that the glass is clear--so don't buy an ugly bulb for it, unless it's out of sight or you don't care about the appearance), and it works well. ** Motion Sensing and Dayight Sensor ** I wanted a motion sensor so it would only turn on when I opened the side door, and the motion sensor works very well on either the high or medium setting. The 'low' setting is not very sensitive at all; you need to be within a few feet of the light to get it to turn on. The bottom of the base (against the wall) has a light sensor that disables the light when it's bright outside. ** Installation ** The light was pretty easy to install; just a white, black, and ground wire. It comes with a convenient (and sturdy) metal mounting bracket that can be mounted to just about any electrical box, and it comes with two screws, and three small wire nuts that work fine for 12-16 ga. wire. The wire ends are stranded (like most light fixtures these days). Make sure you mount the circular mounting plate with the wires from the wall through the middle, and with the two long screws level horizontally. ** Conclusion ** I love this light, and hope it will last at least 5-10 years, maybe longer. I fear it will start rusting, or one of the glass panes will shatter at some point, though, since it's built pretty cheaply. At least it's made with real metal and real glass!

cheap sensors
Gave it one star cause it doesn't allow less then that. On the plus side the cost is low and it is useful as a manual porch lamp switch operated. Sensor operation is erratic at best and downright weird other times. It will shut off after a few seconds sometimes regardless of time setting and other times stay on all night. After two weeks screwing with it trying to find the happy medium it likes, it now wants to operate via sensor during the day and yes even tho I live in Puget Sound we get enough daylight to shut off a decent sensor. Would have sent it back but I can use a manual porch light in another location so will keep this and shop locally for a better one. Note also range of view seems to be limited to approx 8 ft. to either side and 6 ft. directly forward. I have a 40 year old sensor light with much greater range and ease of operation. Keep looking folks.-------March 16, 2013 Had to update this as since the original post I bought another Porch Light (yes it was Heath/Zenith as well--seems no one else makes them for low cost installations) which had 180 deg. range of motion, installed in spot this one was and moved this one to an out building. It now works excellent, just as advertised. Picks up motion from at least 30 ft. front on and side as well and shuts off during the day as it is supposed to. Changed nothing on the settings other then to turn the sensor to the side I would approach from. Have no idea why it didn't work well on original spot but it is perfect where it is now. 2nd light was almost identical in looks, $49.95, at Lowes, 180 deg. motion and it works perfect as well. Other then the labour in moving it, I'm not out anything so moved rating to 3 stars. Hope this helps you.

Ok Motion Sensor Light
I bought this mainly due to the great price. I loved my other motion sensor light, but didn't want to pay as much. I have learned my lesson. This light is ok, but not as good as the $60 one I bought before it. I have since bought the same model and will keep this as a spare. The light does not seem to have a great range of motion sensing. High, Med and Low seem to have little effect on when it actually comes on. Honestly I think medium is the better setting. It doesn't always come on either. I have it set to 5 minutes and if I am outside moving around for longer it doesn't want to come back on. I have seen a few times where it didn't come on at all. The porch is a few feet above the ground and that could be causing it some trouble, but I thought it would pick up movement better. Also the box area for the light is kind of small so you need to get a compact light bulb. I used GE's hybrid 75 watt CFL and that works well. For the price this is ok, but I see why the higher cost one is better. I also had to drill my own holes in the mounting plate as well. The one that comes with it is different than most I have seen and made it impossible to line up level with the holes in the plate without drilling my own. My electrical box has the holes at the top right and bottom left for reference. Again, not a bad light for the money, but it will be a backup light in a few days.
