Super Cute and Sturdy

Grandchild 7 month old was in awe … :)

My 7 month old granddaughter love loved loved it !!! She didn’t want to get off … dad was helping her stay balanced and pushing her around … her feet didn’t touch the ground .. she stretched her legs to touch the floor with her toes … dad was complaining that his hamstring and leg muscles were hurting (from being bent over and pushing her about) they now have to hide it from her or she wants to be pushed about *she is still not crawling nor walking … but she moves her legs as if to walk She just may skip crawling and just walk lol Another observation was that when they stop walking/pushing her in the bike she starts rocking or swaying forward trying to make the bike move This was easy to put together and very well made … nice because it’s made of wood We’ll worth the 65.00 I unfortunately cannot put the video of my grandchild because we don’t put the kids on social media Best gift EVER …!!!!

Well made, sturdy and oh so cute!

We purchased this as a gift for our 14 month old granddaughter. We are impressed with how stable it is. The steering is restricted so it cannot “jackknife” and it looks like it will be very difficult to tip over. I’ll post more once the gift is received and used. I decided not to wait because the thing is just so darn cute and so very well made. And only the wheels and the hubcaps are plastic.

One Year and Still Going Strong

I am writing this review one year after purchasing the bike. I bought it as a gift for a baby's first birthday (along with a helmet) - now they are two, and they still ride it and it's in great condition. Given the price, and knowing how fast babies outgrow toys, I was nervous to buy this. But it has kept their interest as they've grown, so I can now confidently feel like it was worth the money. This bike is only ridden indoors so I can't speak to how it lasts or how smooth it is outdoors. As a one year old the baby could comfortably sit on it but may have needed a push (feet could reach the ground but couldn't really get the pushing or steering quite yet). They quickly got the hang of it, and now at age two they are an expert! (and still fit on the bike).

Good quality wood and finish. Reasonably easy assembly. It's cute!

The item has not yet been test-driven (not until birthday). It was fairly easy to assemble. You do need at least one 13mm wrench (or two, two 13mm sockets would probably be ideal or a pair of box ends would also be useful) and a standard slotted screwdriver, medium size, to assemble it, in addition to the hex key included. There are two tricky bits... The wheel covers are difficult to fit in place, six tanged tabs to go into six slots. If you have difficulty, try gently bending the tabs outward, just a little, before attempting to fit it. If that fails, reach inside with a slender tool (narrow screwdriver) and gently bend the tabs out. The handlebar has a tiny screw hole in the middle that mates up with a screw hole in the headpiece. Align the screw hole in the bar with the hole in the headpiece, put the screw into the hole and then slide the handlebars along until you feel the screw catch slightly in the hold. Then push and screw it in. It's not hard, just a little tedious.

Loved it! Would buy again!

1yo seems to love so far and is happy getting on and off. Can't wait till he figures it out completely. It's well made. Update: my son is now two and although he still loves getting on and off and riding it, he really has grown out of it as he has to take such short strides to get it going now. Today he was popping stuff on it's seat and trying to ride around on it tho, and cried when I wouldn't let him take it out of the house as we had an errand to run. But this was such a brilliant purchase. Once he figured out how to ride it he was scooting around the house and the wheels are so silent and speedy. It has stood up to him throwing it down stairs brilliantly. It has not marked walls and doorways that we can tell. It taught him how to reverse correctly too (you know when you need to turn and reverse but you need to turn the handles in a counter intuitive way, well he got that). It is not an outside bike though (but that is not a deal breaker and I would still buy again as it has been great to have as an indoor toy). The times we've tried it outside the wheels just dig in and it flips. Great for flat indoor floor surfaces.

Best purchase ever

I like to wait to write reviews to make sure the item’s quality stands up. We got this for our 1 1/2 year old son back in February 2021 and he’s now over 2 as I’m writing this review in September 2021. He absolutely loves this bike! It’s perfect for indoors and honestly feel it’s the best purchase we made for him at this age and stage. Perfect gift for those looking for something for a one year old that he or she will still love beyond age 2 and further!

They don't make 'em like they used to

We bought this little bike for our son, who is 21- months old, but big for his age. My son's friend, age 2, has what appears to be an older version of this bike from Hape; it has four little red wheels, a metal frame, and a flat wooden seat. It's solid, well-balanced, and well-built, and seems like the perfect little toddler bike. We wanted to get one for our son, but Hape no longer seems to make that model. Looking at the toddler bikes that Hape currently makes, this seemed to "new" version of that older bike... Well, it may be the newer "version," but it is no substitute! To begin with, this bike is much smaller. My son can't really sit comfortably on this bike, since the little wooden "backrest" hits where his butt should be. Even when we removed the backrest, the bike is just too short to be comfortable for him to push. (Some other reviews mentioned this; I should have listened to them.) This bike also doesn't seem to be as well made as the older model. The plastic wheel covers fell off with in minutes of my son beginning to push the bike around, and we have never been able to get them to stay on again. The bike also leans dangerously if a child does anything other then sit firmly in the center of the seat, and tips quite easily. We've averted a couple of major accidents only by supervising my son extremely carefully when he plays with it. Overall, I'm really disappointed with this purchase. Hape, if you read these reviews, bring back the older model!!

Arrived with no screws etc

This bike is a lovely little toy, looks good and is sturdy. However, the box did not contain any screws or bolts needed to put it together. Amazon only offers return or contact manufacturer. I messaged Hape to request the screws but they replied and said it was not their problem!! And to contact Amazon. Not helpful at all. Fortunately a local company was able to provide screws to save me returning it but very disappointed with after sales service.

Great!

Lovely scooter! Such great quality and easy to put together. My 15 month old is absolutely loving it. He's not quite walking but this scooter is sturdy enough to support him as he's learning. And he'll use it beyond that as a brilliant toy. Well worth every penny.
