Molding after a single dishwasher use
This was installed with a kitchen remodel. It was more expensive than most of the name brands I saw on Amazon, but was the same brand as the faucet. After one use of the new dishwasher and not much else going on in the kitchen, I was surprised to see mold growing in the plastic.

Installed with some difficulty...
The installation was on a preinstalled ceramic counter and sink. I removed the original fixture without problem, but had difficulty installing the new product. Finally, I figured out a fix. It really requires two (2) seal (white) washers 1 above and 1 below the counter material to secure the Air Gap. I had to scavenge the washer from the original air gap to have a secure attachment. At least it saved me a trip to Lowes or Home Depot! I'm not sure if there was a missing part... but there was no way to seat the chrome cap without the washer on the top surface... and there was no way to keep it from slipping from side to side without a washer on the under side. Beware!

Great cap, useless nut.
My experience is similar to M. Baker’s but fortunately I had a plumber here to bail me out. First off, the chrome top cover/cap is a very nice, substantial part and a real upgrade from the original on my kitchen sink. I bought the kit for the top cover and that part met my expectations. At first glance, the plastic air gap pipe and plastic nut look just like the parts they replaced. But when my plumber started to install the air gap, he discovered that nut simply wouldn’t tighten the plastic pipe properly. He kept trying but the supplied nut just wasn’t up to the job—too flimsy. Finally, he decided to use the original nut that’s been holding the original fixture in place since 1996. That worked perfectly. So my suggestion is that if you buy this kit, make sure you have the original, or a spare, plastic nut handy.

Looks great, fits nice
I bought this to match my Hansgrohe faucet and soap dispenser. Looks great! I haven't had any issues with it being loose or moving around like some other reviews. Maybe my plumber installed it more securely? It is pricey, but worth it to have all the sink accessories match.

Perfect match
I was originally looking for an air gap in a Mediterranean bronze finish, however I could not find one. I came across this one in my search. The pictures shown of the rubbed bronze air gap looked like it would match up with our new faucet. Sure enough when I received it it matched perfectly!! The product was exactly how it looked in the pictures. Very happy with my purchase.

Not for thicker countertops
Ok, you are buying this for the chrome top that matches your other Hansgrohe bits. The plastic stem is the same plastic stem as the $5 unit from Home Depot or Lowes. No kidding, I checked the part number. If you have thicker granite or quartz countertops with 5/8" plywood counter substrate, this might not fit because the threaded part is about 2.5" long. So you should measure the distance between the top of the counter to the underpart of the plywood substrate. Mine was 2 and 1/8" thick so I had to purchase another plastic stem with a 3.5" thread and then use this chrome top with that unit.

Looks good - not structurally much different than cheaper air gaps
While you typically don't buy an air gap for technical superiority, one might hope that a bit more money might get more in terms of quality. That really doesn't appear to be the case here. The cover is what you'd expect from Hansgrohe, but there is quite a bit of play between the threaded body of the air gap, and the securing nuts. This makes it difficult to get it tightened if there is any lateral tension from the hoses. Overall - it's pretty, but the guts of the device aren't anything markedly different than something that's half the price. Buy this to get something that matches your other fixtures, otherwise, you can save some money.

Hansgrohe Priceless
This Hansgrohe dishwasher air gap looks fantastic with our new faucet. I am happy we changed this out because the old one had a lot of solid waste stuck in it. Very easy to install and will fit any modern kitchen sink of today. This is the whole unit not just the cover you will purchase.
