Reasonable replacement to get smart features into existing fixtures
Slowly enabling smart features and used these in a kitchen. They work great with SmartThings Hub. Recently had one of them go belly up (originally purchased in 2019) so lifespan is a little shorter than I expected, but we'll see how the others last. Colors and intensity matches great on new replacement. Overall pretty happy with these!

Auto pairs with Echo plus and changes brightness (dims), color and on & off with voice commands
Though there are zero instructions for painting and working with Alexa app, these were easy to install auto paired with 2nd gen Echo Plus (the one with built in hub) and you can choose light color, brightness and switch light on and off with voice commands. I’ve bought 6 so far, and set 5 up in a hallway and 1 approx 25 feet away from the other five lights in my kitchen as a test, around a corner (two walls away). I have an Echo dot in that kitchen area and one more Echo dot 40 feet from kitchen and approx 65 feet from first five (and several walls) away and I can control all lights with voice commands by room from any Echo dot or the Plus or the Alexa app if I’m away from the house. It is awesome. I’ve never tried Philips hue, but it’s hard for me to believe they could do more than this —in fact, I’m now hesitant to try Philips hue in case they do less than these because I have Echo Plus as hub instead of the Philips proprietary hub. We had no trouble getting the outside ring snug against drywall on any of the 6 units we purchased (our original can light fixtures were from circa 1999 in case that helps anyone). The other thing we liked is that this light comes with two types of installation clips. We removed the standard clips and preferred those in this picture. You remove the center bar (not done yet in this pic) and then the the can sort of "twists" into the recessed area and can twist back out if you need to remove it. (Lefty loosey, righty tighty). Can’t say enough good about these. Only installed a couple but will update if anything changes, and I'm buying more to replace aging kitchen can lights next.

If you have Echo Plus, Alexa will outsmart you...
I got this bulb to fill in a can that was bare but for a socket in my new apartment. Since it's a Zigbee light, and has adjustable white balance and I have an Echo Plus, I figured it would be a match in heaven. Well, pretty darn close... First word of advice - read the instructions before starting. It WILL make it easier to install if you've never installed a downlight before. Installation isn't too complicated - actually, it's pretty darn easy if your can has the little clips that the springs can clip onto, as long as you know what to look for. Flip it on, and it'll blink twice, indicating ready for pairing... That's where the train derailed for me, as I tried to get Alexa to find the new device. What I didn't think to do was open the Alexa app and actually LOOK - Echo Plus had already added the downlight and didn't tell me. A quick rename in the app and I could control the dimming, on/off, and color balance of the light on the fly. I'd give it 5 stars, except for the fact that it only gives instructions on how to pair it with SmartThings or Wink, not for Echo and no instructions on how to reset the pairing mode if necessary. So 4.4 stars, rounded down to 4. Still, a pretty awesome device.

Im Stuck .. loss of Alexa connectivity
Bought these last year to use with Alexa. Set them up relatively easily using a combo of SmartThings hub and GE Zwave Wall Dimmer. The app immediately found all 9 of my lights and I re-labeled each light (A-light, B-light, C-light - etc ). I then set up lighting schemes ( Moody Lighting, TV Lighting, Office Lighting - etc ). The lights are able to be dimmed using my in-wall dimmer, so I have no idea whay some folks have indicated this was not possible,. HERE is the problem, recently my Alexa couldn't turn on lights. It lost its pairing and despite following the exact steps i did first time out, I have not been able to re-pair. I am now only able to turn on the in-wall switch which allows all lights to go on or off, but cannot individually control any of the lights. I may try buying an Echo Plus to see if they all pair independently (some people here indicated that might work). 3 stars due to the loss of connectivity, otherwise the product has served me well until this happened. UPDATE : I purchased the Echo Plus and same issue. These lights are not able to be paired. What a waste of effort and money .

Easy and effective
I have these throughout my house. Hooked to Samsung Smartthings and Alexa. They work flawlessly.

Good smart light
I have a bunch of Philips Hue Bulbs but their recessed bulbs are expensive. These are great. They integrate into the Alexa app. Even without a bridge or Halo app, the Alexa app allows you to set the color temperature. They work seamless with Alexa. If you can change a light bulb, you can install these. My only complaint is that they revert to previous control setting when reset. If you toggle the light switch when the lights are off, they stay off. You might think this is good but I like Philips Hue better here. When you toggle the light switch with a Philips Hue Bulb, it reverts to a dumb bulb: turns on and off at 100%.

4.5 stars - Works with ABODE security gateway!
My whole home is automated using ABODE system (I don't work there, just a fan of their product) I use those in all rooms that have 12" ceiling or less. I wish HALO made a 750-800lm version of this product though in 4" cans, hence the 4 stars for a 9' ceiling, it will light up a diameter of 7' quite nicely but again, more lumens would be appreciated. for a room of 16x16 4 lights is enough, put 6 if you like it really bright. Better DIM than wish you had put more.

Nice light but doesn't work with in-wall dimmer switch
Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the description did not indicate that it doesn't work with a non-smart in-wall dimmer switch. You should not have to read all the reviews or Q&A's to find out this very import piece of information. Only until I received and tried to install did I realize it does not. After switching out my wall switch, the light was easy to connect to the Echo Plus without the need for an additional hub and the light works well. Just wish I had realized it did not work with in-wall dimmer switch because I probably would have just bought a smart switch instead of the light.

Easy to sync to hub and control
This synced easily with a Zigbee hub (running Hubitat)... the only "trick" was to do the reset (flip the light switch 5 or 6 times in 2 seconds to reset - then they flash twice and are ready to pair). I bought 2 but now that they are working well I will replace the other 4 pot lights. Then I can leave the switch on all the time and control through my smarthome. Installing is almost as easy as changing a bulb. You just unscrew the existing bulb and remove the pot light frame (just unhook 2 springs in my case) then screw in this replacement socket, plug the pigtail into the light, squeeze the springs and lift it in place.

A Great light!
You're looking at this and the Phillips Hue one and wondering what the difference are. Well, this one goes as warm as 2700K, the Hue does 2200K. The Hue fades on/off always, this one turns on/off right away. This one is (subjectively) brighter and cheaper than the Hue.
