I like the motion light because it has the the ability ...
I like the motion light because it has the the ability to adjust up or down for motion But have reservations on the no separate adjustment button for sensitivity but has a adjustment the length of time the light stays on supposed to be a max of 12 minutes then shut off but has stayed in for 1/2 hr at times so I have to flip the switch to reset this is annoying. motion lights should have 2 adjustments Time and Sensitivity .

Very Sensitive Motion Detection
Instruction say to place it about 10 feet high off the ground so the motion sensor will work correctly. The area sensed seems to be as advertised and further than most. The lowest timed 'on' setting is 4 minutes when motion activated. It will run florescent bulbs. I mounted one about 8 feet off the ground and it comes on and off all the time. At 10 feet off the ground it seems to function properly but I wish it had a shorter timed 'on' for my purposes. Photo cell senses dawn and dusk just fine. Customer service was very good.

JUNK - Below One Star! An Electrical Engineer's analysis. Turns On and remains ON for days for NO Reason - day or night
I have eight (yes - 8) motion sensing lights mounted on the exterior of my home. I live in the woods and my home is set back from roads, etc. Recently - after 15 years of use - all eight of my motion sensing light assemblies blew out - presumably due to a major power surge. This light has a universal mount - which means you can mount it on most electrical boxes - no matter their size or shape. I was not impressed with the gasket and the general idea of a universal mount. Water infiltration seems likely. I've only used this light for 4 weeks but WHAT I DON"T LIKE is that after a power surge (?), outage or maybe just a bit of noise on the electrical line - the light turned on and remained on - for many days and nights - until I intervened. It should have reset itself automatically but it didn't. After turning it on or off repeatedly at the switch - it finally reset but I'm not filled with confidence that the next hiccup on the power line won't set it permanently on again. The fact that it did not reset on its own is troubling but even worse was the fact that it took many attempts at the switch to reset it. I was ready to rip the light out when one last attempt of turning it on and off at the switch finally reset it. UPDATE: Once again the light turned on and remained on for a few days. Why - who knows? It had been raining but I never lost power. It took a number of tries to reset it. Another UPDATE: The light continues to turn itself on and remain on for days at a time for no apparent reason. It is very difficult to reset and I've given up on this light. Once I purchase a replacement - this one goes in the trash bin. Remember - I had completely functional motion sensing lights that never displayed any of the problems that this light has and they functioned perfectly for 15 years. Unfortunately, they are no longer sold. Good electronics are what makes or breaks these lights. Are the electronics robust, can they handle power surges, line noise, etc. Do they reliably reset after a power outage or even a small hiccup in line voltage (which happens often), etc. How sensitive is the sensor and how much can you adjust the sensor to meet your needs. These are NOT easy questions but are the right ones to ask. This light rates BELOW ONE STAR in my opinion. You simply can't count on it. I'll be buying other brands in the future and hopefully I'll find a good one prior to replacing all eight lights. I've got seven more lights to replace - wish me luck. FINAL UPDATE and a PURCHASING RECOMMENDATION - I finally threw this light away - quite happily - it was a piece of junk. I then installed, in the EXACT same junction box (using obviously the same wiring) a light I purchased from Lowe's (and it may also be available on Amazon). It is a "Heath/Zenith Secure Home Motion Activated light" (exact description as copied from the box). It comes with a 240 degree sensor, it is all metal and it has worked perfectly for the last 6 months. On sale I paid $15.00. It has NONE of the PROBLEMS this light had. It also features what Heath/Zenith call a "DualBrite" operating mode which I switched off. This feature allows the light to remain on after dusk for a set period of time - dawn to dusk, 3 hour, 6 hour or off at about half brightness unless activated by motion when the light will always turn on at full brightness. This Heath/Zenith is perfect and has more features than I'll ever need and it works perfectly and reliably. Note I waited over 6 months before endorsing this brand. When it is NOT on sale I believe it sells for $25.00. Well worth it at twice the price. One other feature I really appreciate is that it has an automatic "bulb saver" feature. That means it turns on the light slowly (over the course of a second or two). Filaments tend to burn out on turn-on and this automatic feature will probably triple the life of your bulbs. The exact model of this Heath/Zenith is SH-5105-BZ-B

Incandescent Only!! - One-Year Review
I have four of these along the side of my home. I wanted them to come on automatically with foot traffic. The description and appearance clearly suggest that they will and makes no mention of the fact that they will not operate correctly if you don't use incandescent bulbs. I tried fluorescent spots and the lights kept coming on with no external motion when in motion mode. I called Cooper and they told me that CFL's won't work. The ballasts interfere with the motion electronics and will cause them to act erratically, even more so if you have multiple CFL bulbs on one circuit. What's worse is the Cooper rep also said that they don't really recommend more than one of these fixtures on one circuit. REALLY??!!Those are certainly the kinds of things worth mentioning on the box and in the ad description given that many cities are considering outlawing incandescent bulbs as an energy mandate. The price I paid was much lower than currently offered for so I decided to use the lights anyway. I also didn't want to ship them back given the amount of time I spent on installing the four of them since I'd have to UN-install them, box them up and drive them to the post-office. Not worth it At least the light sensor works. So if you put them in the "NIGHT TIME ON" or "DUSK to DAWN" settings, they will not behave as erratically. The obvious downside is that they will stay on all night; but come daybreak, the optical sensor will shut them off until the next nightfall regardless of bulb type. I now have extreme low wattage LED bulbs in them so the energy consumption is negligible. That NIGHTTIME ON mode is good enough but I would caution using these in multiples without traditional incandescent bulbs. At one-year follow-up the lights work the same but the metal bezels are already completely faded. The glossy bronze finish has gone flat and chalky from sun exposure. I live in Seattle! They're easy to remove and spray paint if someone wanted to, but it seems a bit fast to be losing their finish.

Works better than expected.
I didn't have great expectations for this relatively inexpensive unit. The Amazon description indicates a 240 degree detection angle whereas the box says the detection angle is 270 degrees. Checking it after installation, the detection angle is about 264 degrees. About as good as these "value" sensors get. Amazon's description doesn't mention that it has a photoelectric sensor that keeps the light from turning on during daylight. It does.

Falls Apart; Poor Motion Sensitivity
Beware: I've bought two of these over a span of years, and on both the threads were so poorly made that the lights literally fell out of the screw sockets, when I began to tighten the clamps. I'm talking about getting to hand-tight, no more! So there was no way to hold the lights in place! Also, on the second one, the motion sensitivity was very poor - they must have cheapened the sensor recently.
