These are nice remodel cans
These are nice remodel cans. I really like the easy electrical connections. But as others have complained, the clips need work! I found that the easiest way for me to get them to lock in was to push the clip up and towards the can with a hammer until it was tight against the can wall, then use a large flat blade screw driver and a hammer and force the screw driver blade straight up until the clip fully locked.

The retaining clips are a nightmare, but excellent outside of that
THE SHORT OF IT The only negative about this fixtures is the four clips which hold the fixture in place. They're a real bugger to be sure. I had to bend most of them to get them to lock in place. However, there is a very narrow window that the clips can lock in, so you end up with a lot of trial and error to get the bent shape correct. It's hard to express how frustrating this process was; needless to say, there was some inappropriate language involved. Outside of that, I like these fixtures. The wiring in the junction box comes with the "push in" type wire connectors, so you do not even need wire nuts. They wire up very easily. Just don't forget you will have to supply your own wire clamps that screw into the junction box knock-outs. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I got these fixtures because I wanted something smaller than a 6 inch light and I needed them for a ceiling with an attic space above. Which meant that I needed IC (insulated contact) and AT (air-tight) fixtures. It seems there are not many options for 4 or 5 inch fixtures with those ratings. If you can find something else that will fit your needs, I'd give those a shot just because these were such a pain to put in. Otherwise, these will work, just be prepared to be frustrated. Before installing them, it's best to clear the area of children and anyone else easily offended by unpleasant language. The other reason I chose these fixtures was that they were specifically listed as compatible with the trim I found. I suspect other fixtures are compatible, but it's easier to get parts you know are compatible. I had a sloped ceiling I was putting the lights in, so I needed an eyeball or gimbal trim, here are the ones I paired with these fixtures: Halo 5070SN 5-Inch Eyeball Light Trim, Satin Nickel Note that this trim requires the "Short" PAR30 bulb. You also need to modify the fixture to fit them in. Unclip the socket and remove the metal plate the socket was attached to. The socket then clips into the top of the eyeball trim. It only takes a minute to do, but it is something to be aware of if you have never used an eyeball trim (instructions were not provided, but it is easy enough to figure out). My approach to lighting is super bright and dimmable is the way to go. I can almost never get too much light when I'm working on a task, but you don't always need "operating room" brightness. So I paired both the fixtures and trim with these bright, dimmable LEDs: Dimmable LED - 18.5 Watt - PAR30 - Short Neck - 120W Equal - 3200 Candlepower - 36 Deg. Flood - 3000K Halogen White - Soraa 00849

Great remodel light housing
I installed these in my bathroom and I'm really impressed. I followed the supplied directions and used the template that was also supplied. Two lights installed and wired took about an hour or so. I'm not an electrician but I do have pretty good knowledge of a/c electrical theory. The push in connectors are great. The only problem is getting the clips to lock in place.

It's a great can to install in tight spot or ceiling that has thick blow-in insulations. You can pre-install your romex cable, then push it through the opening hole from under the ceiling. This will save you a lot of time in the attic. The clips is a little tricky to install. However, you can use a small head hammer to help. I used the 5/6'' LED trim/light combo with this can, and it work perfectly.

Missing socket plate
Received the item to supplement other recessed cans (same model) which I had purchased locally. The one ordered online was missing the adjustable socket plate.. Picture of the missing part is shown above. It may be required depending on the trim you use. The clips that hold to the drywall which other reviews mention as difficult has a trick. From inside the can the clips have a notch which is covered by foam tape. Take a flathead screw driver put it in the notch and hit the top of the screwdriver with your palm. There are some videos online.

Look great and easy to install
Easily daisy chained together. Securely mounts to ceiling once you figure out how to secure the clips.

Good Product
Got a couple of these to install in the hallway during a remodel. Like other reviews have said the clips a bear to work with. Eventually got them to lock down. They are easy to wire with clip inserts and they look great with the Halo 500P trim.
