Required fix it part but may need a fix itself
If you have this Delta diverter faucet and the diverter fails you have to have this part or take the wall apart (since it's in the tub/shower wall) and replace the entire faucet. So, it's good that it's available. Found that the white nylon diverter mechanism and o-ring worked fine but the plastic gasket pad is so tight it could not be reliably used on 1990s era Delta faucets without risk of the diverter snapping in two when the handle is forced to turn. Solution was to put the old gasket pad from the old broken diverter on the new diverter and it worked fine. May try sanding down a new pad as a fix at a later date. As an aside lots of replacement parts that have been converted from British to Metric dimensions have marginal fit in some ways. This is just an extreme case and it's easier and much cheaper to adapt this part instead of replacing the entire faucet.

Amazing that Amazon had this part!
I have a classic 1950s art deco bathroom with blue glazed tile and a tub with overhead shower. Last week I paid a plumber $500- to replace the diverter valve in my 20 year old Delta three hole bathtub faucet bay. He took a picture of the faucets, went to a local "jobber" and installed a knock off replacement part. This caused the diverter handle to wobble and not be stable. This plumber told me genuine Delta parts were not available. Lo and behold, I punched in the model number of my three hole faucet bay and got a parts diagram. Amazon had the diverter, 3 inch screws, knob extensions, hot and cold valve parts kit with springs and seals...everything and all genuine Delta. Got all the parts in TWO DAYS, Sunday night! I installed it all last night. The new diverter will be a tight fit because of the pitting inside the valve body. Just file the curved white plastic pieces along the top of the new valve, round them off when filing. One piece at the back and one piece at the top middle. Hold the old valve next to the new one to get an idea how much to file. Try the diverter after some filing, it should be snug but should slide all the way in. If it fits, remove the diverter, apply silicone to the o ring, push the diverter straight in using the handle extension. I learned a hard lesson that plumbers don't like to fix perfectly good bath faucets, they want to tear up the wall and install brand-new three hole faucets.

Hard to find item worked great for my faucet.
First I went to Lowes and purchased one that was supposed to fit, but it would not stop the water flow. After looking on the internet I found the ones at Lowes sometimes do not work because the seal is different, purchased this and it solved the problem.

Too big
These were manufactured a little too large, circumference wise. You can remove the excess material and they will work. The ones from the big box stores have the same issue.

Almost perfect but usuable.
So this part is almost usuable but the saddle that sits on it is too thick to allow for insertion into the housing. I was able to use a dremmel tool to sand some of the thickness off of the pad and it went in with no problem. Seems like this part is discontinued so the replacement is not quite right. Beats replacing your whole faucet. Get a dremmel. You can make it work.

Fits perfect and tight
I Noticed many said it doesn't fit and was overly tight, I discovered that in order for this to work, after you insert it , you have to spin it a few times with the plastic extension before placing the facuate back on. This will allow it to losen up a bit, you do not need to file anything down. Just spin a few times ( will be a bit stiff) by hand then place then facuate back on and all will be good.

Home DYI plumming
Came in good condition and was relatively quick in shipping, seeing as it was ordered during the pandemic. Worked for its intended job, however, I had to file down some of the nibs, as they were raised slightly higher than the original part. All in all, not much more time was needed to make the necessary repair using this part. Pros: Shipped quickly Fair Price Worked as intended Cons: Needed small adjustment to make work.

Give it a shot. Be a little daring.
Bought this to fix a very old Delta shower faucet. It worked and saved me a bunch of money. If you have a leaky Delta shower faucet, recommend: 1. Find the model number of the faucet 2. Look online for the owners manual (it'll have valve replacement instructions) 3. Review the instructions to see if it is within your capabilities (almost guaranteed it is) 4. Buy the appropriate valve 5. You should probably turn off your house's main water valve. For this fix wasn't necessary as this came after the shower valve - but I like to be sure. 6. Install (the only tool I needed was a small allen wrench - probably under $2 - hardware store available ) If it is not within your technical capabilities, call the plumber. Even if you stop and call the plumber at step 3, you will be knowledgeable about what your plumber will be doing, so you'll be in a better negotiation position. This one was a simple cost effective fix because Delta engineered the faucet to be easily serviceable. Under 15 minutes ...and I'm no expert. Be a little daring!
