Can't fault the quality of construction; product support sucks

Why do we write reviews? We love the product and want to share or we hate the product and we want to share. What if we like the product but customer service (Grohe) drives us to writing a bad review? Contacted Grohe to find out how long the 1/2" NPT quick connector (to determine how long the supply line pipe needs to be). The usual long wait times (phone or chat) but we can get back to you. Asking the question on a large retail box site that they monitor helps. I was told the connector was 1". Nope, it's 1.75". Customer service quoted the assembly drawing which is inaccurate... drawing looks like its 1" and is flush with the wall. For the escutcheon to be flush, the NPT end of the connector needs to extend into the wall, therefore the supply pipe resides in the wall (approximately 1/2" from the tile surface). Wasted purchasing a 1/2" x 2" NPT red brass nipple... waiting for delivery of a shorter nipple. Grohe fails on documentation and a correct customer response. 3rd party vendor did their part and delivered the goods. Updated10/4/21 My brass nipple finally came in and I finished the install. After tightening, the 1-1/8" long nipple just squeeked in over the 15/16" minimum from wall requirement (1-1/2" nipple was too long). What's nice about the design is that unlike a true NPT connection, the nozzle allows you to tighten for leaks but the final spout position mounts flush without worrying about screwing on a tub spout and having it point sideways when tight.

Beautiful spout but ...

... make sure you install the included fitting on the copper coming out of the wall BEFORE you finish the wall! I didn't and now have a 5 pound paper weight ... it really is a nice spout though - beautiful finish and not 'clunky' looking like the Moen 'slip-on' spout I had to buy as a replacement.

Love It!

I was reluctant to pay so much for my Grohe hardware but I am so glad I chose it. Every piece I bought is gorgeous. The shape and color are absolutely stunning. The fixtures are actually metal, not the plastic junk that so many other brands are selling. My contractor said he loves using Grohe because of the quality and ease of installation. I'm super happy with my purchase. You will be, too.

Great looking spout, will need special pipe end

I bought this to replace my existing Grohe valve. All I needed to do was pull out the old one and put this one in. However, you should note that this spout REQUIRES a special pipe fitting. I was lucky because my old spout is from the same company so there was no need to install this fitting. I am not sure where one would get it, as it was not included in my box for this product. Take note.

Do not buy this unless you want to rip out your tile and waterproof membrane for installation!

Warning... as others have stated, this is not going to work for most people. It is not a slip on spout so you need a female thread. Normally this is not a big deal. Every other plumbing manufacturer makes it so you can have a female thread on the outside (wet side) of your wall ..... typically halfway down the tub spout. A "normal" thread tub spout is designed so anyone can cut their 1/2 copper pipe and install a female thread (as you need a blowtorch and access to the copper to sweat on a female thread adaptor). Well not Grohe. They are Grohe so they just make their own rules. On this tub spout, you have to install a FEMALE THREAD BEHIND YOUR TILE and you have to calculate the exact thickness of your wall, tile (plus your waterproof membrane) to a fraction of an inch or you will not get this installed. It's a waste of my time to even include photos. Don't buy it and avoid the hassle, headache and return shipping fee.

This is a beautiful solid very modern designed tub spout

It deserves a 5 star rating but for me I would have given it 4.5. One of the reasons is that in order for the diverter to function, your water pressure needs to be at a certain level or your shower head water flow would not stay on unless you manually held down the diverted knob. Basically it does not function well with low water pressure as it is designed so that you get the best water pressure out of your shower head. Other that it works beautifully and somehow different from other diverted tub spouts...

I really like the design and the finish. The only drawback is that you need to be very careful with the depth of the rough in or you will have a hard time with the final installation.
