Feels like a snug hug (great!) but sizing is not accurate.

I purchased this because I have osteoarthritis in both knees and they are both bone on bone. I have been told to have surgery but am putting it off. I have to walk a lot on my job and I am overweight. A few weeks ago, during normal walking, one knee felt as if it hyperextended backward. That scared me and hurt terribly. I just wanted to find something to give snug compressing and add some stability. I bought 5 different braces. One was huge and had metal hinges. I could not even put it on and fasten it by myself. One was size too large and offered no knee stability. One was too small and I could not pull it past my calf. One was OK but one size fits all and feels pretty tight - but I can wear it. Then I tried this one. I love it. My leg is about 18" under kneecap where they say to measure. But it is about 23" at 4 inches above the knee. I was going to get 5XL but chose 4XL (though their chart says XXL) and I chose right this time. (5X would be too big) I have worn it daily for a week and it does not slide. I feels like a hug around my knee and I can make it tighter or looses as I choose my adjusting the velcro - which seems to be holding very securely so far. When I take the brace off, I realize my leg is sweaty - but I only notice this when I take it off - not while wearing it. I have bought 2 more to have as spares to wash and let dry. I am very happy with this product.

Sizing way off, and no air flow at all

According to their charts, I should have ordered an L, but from reading the reviews I ordered an XXL and that was a snug fit. There is some stretch to the knee brace, but it's extremely difficult to actually stretch it to get it comfortable around your leg. Because it's so thick, when you bend your knee, the sides stick out quite a bit, it's not a glove-type fit at all. I wore it for about 4 hours, doing some easy yard work on and off (temps were 55°, so not hot), nothing to build up a sweat over. My leg and the brace were soaking wet when I took it off. I imagine that can get rank pretty quick. It might be ok if you're just laying in place resting. But this definitely isn't a brace to wear if you're doing any activity at all while wearing it, and I mean not even slow walking.

No instructions on placement... Need "Knee wrap for Dummies".

I am editing my original review. There are no instructions on how to place the wrap. The photo shows the Velcro fasteners on the front of the wrap, but I thought they were on the back. There is a circular opening that I first place over my knee cap (Velcro) on the back. It is more difficult to get a supportive fit. I decided to try flipping it so opening is in the back, Velcro in the front. Not sure if this is how to wear it, but it seems to fit better and was much easier to fasten. Instructions would be very helpful! I agree with the smaller fit. I did not measure before ordering, but I wear 2XL in clothing and purchased 5XL based on other reviews. It fits with Velcro in front. Feels good!

Stitching coming apart after one week

I purchased Thermoskin because it was thinner and less bulky under clothing than the Mueller brace I had, which I had just bought off the shelf at Walgreens for half the price of this Thermoskin. It seems to give a little less support than the Mueller but was pretty comfortable to wear all day long. However, I've worn it for a week, 5 days at work and through 2 light gym workouts (bike to strengthen knee) and the stitching on the velcro that hold the brace together is half off of one pad and coming off of the other. This does not bode well for longevity. I will have to get the sewing machine out and fix it, but for the price I'm not pleased. The Mueller may be a better daily brace. I've worn the one I have for about 5 months and it is just fine.

Nice heat therapy

This knee wrap is primarily to provide heat therapy to the knee. I did not quite catch that (yes, I just said that I am an idiot :) prior to purchasing this for knee support. So from the support perspective, I was a little disappointed in this. It slides down pretty much every time I stand up. I do have chicken legs (large quads), so my experience may not be the same as yours. All of that said, I was very surprised at how much heat these can retain, and just how much better the make my knees feel. I just cannot be running around while enjoying that. But enjoy it I do (and it gives me an excuse to relax!).

Darn it, I still ordered the wrong size

Based on all the reviews and Q&A and Thermoskin's instructions I read here about the sizing prior to purchase. Was way too big. Have to go down at least 2 sizes. Even though it swallowed my knee and surrounding leg, it did feel nice. The fabric inside felt soft and huggy, in contrast to the 50-Shades-Of-Grey-type metal-hinged knee braces I wear. Felt like it could offer good support when needed in more casual situations, such as socializing and being on a plane, when heavy, hinged braces look awkward and interfere with others. I don't think I'd wear it for an active (outside) work day. So I'm gonna order another one in a smaller size. Will report my arthritic experience with it when I get it.

Guys , when you see so many tv shows of helping big people this is ok , i'm helping a gentleman lose weight and he is a big guy. But this still doesn't work well for him, it's tight. when you see shows like the biggest loser of the black knee brace to help them exercise , i guess that is what i was looking for. this work to get him to go to the store to walk a little but still have to work on the style for big people ( why do i say it that way , if it's not used it sits on the counter and not used) He's over 400lbs. so it just get used every once in a while.

Good Product, but read reviews and buy 2 sizes larger

I just received this product and found the strap lenghts were ok, but only because I read a number of other reviews that stated the straps were not long enough if using the size stated on the measurement chart. Many advised to order 2 sizes larger than the measurement, which I did. At that, it matters whether wearing the brace over or under your pants leg. Even at 2 times the size, the straps are just long enough if wearing it over the pants leg (jeans), and fine if under. Other than the size differences, the brace seems to do the job very well, although I have only had it for a day.

Just what I was after

I have a very active job and suffering from chondromalacia patellae was quite a hit for me. My knee hurts quite a bit when I walk - especially up/down the stairs, when I sit and stand up, etc. This brace is really practical, easy to put on and stopped my knee making popping and grinding sounds when I walk. It tightens exactly where it needs to and keep the knee warm (I do have ice pack on it beginning and end of the day). I worried that it would be too small but it streches and you can tighten as you desire. I really like the material and the feel of it. Am really satisfied with the product

Excellent, but large fitting

Really good quality. They fit quite large, just be sure you need the size you think. I bought two of them as the inital one was too big and therefore didn't give me enough support. Helped me through my physio recovery. Very happy with this product

Expensive but does the job

This did the job when I was having a problem with my knee at work but it is too expensive for what it is. Half the price would be more realistic. sits on the knee quite well but does get very hot. I went a size up from my measurements and thank goodness as it wouldn't have fitted otherwise.

Sizing guide wrong

Sizing guide is wrong, I ordered the size it said I needed and probably could have fit into 2 sizes below, I've made do and trying to keep it fastened tight but slips out of place all the time.

Firm support for arthritis

A helpful product for my arthritis it does however need adjustment through the day but offers good support.
