Seems nice, but sizing is weird.
I'm kind of torn on this jacket. First a little background. I have an Everlast vest jacket in XL (No longer made) and a NorthFace light jacket 2XL and they fit fine. (I like a slightly baggy fit.) I've had other brands that I could wear XL and they were plenty big. The sizing chart for this jacket says 46-48 Chest XL, and 50-52 2XL. I bought the 2XL, and it was huge, way too huge and for me and I like baggy jackets. I was swimming in this thing. So I went back and ordered a XL and tried it out. The XL fits perfect with empty pockets, until you start to load up. If I kept my wallet in my cargo short leg pocket, I'd probably be fine. However, add a small OWB firearm, and things don't go to well. I almost feel like if they kept the XL 46-48 and the 50-52 was a 3XL and made a 48-50 2XL, this would be perfect. I know that sounds funny and asks a lot of manufacturers, but it seems they are widening the sizing gap to make fewer sizes. Those things aside, it seems to be a nice jacket. I love having a double front zipper and these zippers are YKK which are supposedly the best. The zippers do feel like quality, however they are very fussy to work with. I like having lots of pockets, and with 5 pockets, this is good. The left side of the collar has a tenancy to want to stick up. I would think with some time and persuasion, it can be trained. I have a feeling I will return them both. The 2XL is simply far too large for me and the XL is just a tad small. I will say the arm opening on the XL is perfect though, where the 2XL was crazy big. It's a shame. I say if they have your size and you are not an in between, this is a great choice. Update: So, I ended up keeping the XL and here is a couple more observations. The length is a little too long for my taste. I prefer a jacket that sits at the waist, or just below. This sits quite a bit below the waist for my liking. I"m only 5'8, but I have long legs (31" inseam) and shorter torso. Whenever I sit down, I feel weird having to pull up the jacket (like pulling up your loose pants weird) to sit down without binding and pulling. An option since this has a double front zipper is to always pull the double zipper up before sitting, but it looks a little odd. That left side of the collar still sticks up, but I deal with it. The front zipper is a little finicky, but it's a nice heavy duty zipper. The two inside bottom pockets are straight up and down and deep, sometimes I wish they had a zipper or small piece of Velcro to keep it closed so I don't worry about things falling out if I have to toss the jacket aside. Minor point, no deductions taken off, just felt I should mention it. This vest jacket is not as light-weight as my Everlast. My Everlast was a windbreaker type, whereas this one has more of a fleece feel, but not overly bulky. I like the windbreaker type materials because my dry knuckles don't seem to snag when going in and out of my pockets. With this Propper Jacket, I get a little snag. Overall I think it will be a good vest jacket and have raised my rating verdict.

Meh Not Bad but..........
Ok so this kind of makes sense but is a strange vest. What makes it still doable is the two way zipper. The first issue is it drapes too low and it cinches at the bottom which is already tapered to fit. The inside pockets go completely down to the bottom of the vest so if you do carry concealed in this fashion unless it is a particularity long barreled piece it is actually hard to reach that deep down in the vest. The way I was able to make this work as a CCW vest is because I carry a PF9 which easily fits into one of the outside lower zippered pockets. I unzip the two way zipper up to the waste and then the lower vest drapes well without binding like it does when its fully zipped down. This may also partially conceal a OWB system. The large is cut true to size but does not taper out in the waste area so you need that two way zipper, not belly friendly, fits well if you are fairly slim shaped. A bigger size would make the vest too baggy on top. Why they did not put the cinching chord in the waste and place the inside pockets higher is beyond me. Maybe shorten the length a little. That would have made this 100% better. The material is kind of weird it almost looks formal but seems to wick off moisture well and does not stain that easy. The construction of the vest is good quality although the zippers are marginal. I use this for construction work and maybe a traditional styled photo type CCW vest that is not as long would be better. This is better for a semi casual tactical or blue jean outfit. It should also have two zippered chest pockets instead of one. I like carrying an extra mag in the chest pocket and since I am right handed the extra mag should be in the right hand side chest pocket for mag changes(which does not exist). I probably would have given it 3 stars but I got it for a good price so the value equation was there.

Not too shabby :) !
So... My last vest of this sort.. pretty worn out at this point was a North Face Apex.. 2XL.. black.. It's done very well, fit well, and I've worn a lot over a period of years, it eventually faded to a sort of off black/green color. Tried to purchase another, but couldn't find one... Tried the Condor.. which I liked, but it was sized small.. the 2XL chest size stated to be 50 -52" actually measured the same as the designated size for the XL. closer to 48".. but would stretch to 50" Nice vest, just not true to size. So... just received this Propper Icon in 2XL in Navy, would have rather had black but oh well.. Comparing it to the North Face Apex in the same size(about 3 - 4 years old).. I'd say the chest size of the Propper is 1 1/2" - 2" larger than the Apex. So maybe an XL would have been fine.. It is also about an 1 1/2" longer, and the sleeve openings about 1 1/2" larger as well.. Nice because putting the Apex on over a mid to heavy weight sweater always caused the sweater to hang up in the arm sleeves. The side pocket zippers/ openings are about 1 - 11/2" smaller than the Apex. The outer vest pocket zipper about 1/2" shorter, however it has two larger inner (not zippered) pockets that the Apex didn't have. Quality, at least initially seems similar, YKK Zippers used throughout.. the waist draw string seems pretty much the same. For half, or less of the price of an Apex.. which I would have purchased again could I have found a 2XL when I was looking. The Propper seems like a good choice at this point. Time will if it holds up as well..

Great tactical vest.
Lots of pockets and the material stands up to anything you might get on it without staining. The armpit holes are a nice size, so that there is no pinching or binding. Very warm. Wear it almost daily. It is a little long for me, but I'm on the shorter side (5'5"). Other wise great product.

Great working vest
Bought this vest for work as a paramedic and I love it. Fits really well. Made of great materials, and easy to clean. Also super warm. 10/10 would get again if I have to.

A little on the warm side if you wear it in summer time, but still using it everyday for my covert duties. Recommended.
