Wow…perfect light, flexible softshell
I’ve owned 3-4 black softshell jackets and this one is the absolute best. I’m 6’1 210lbs, medium build. Size Large. Why do I like it? 1. Great fit at the waist, chest, and arms. The sleeves and chest merge in my armpit, not 3 inches below. Not snug, not baggy, just right. 2. It’s stretchy. Most softshell (including the 3 others I tried this time) use stiff stretchless material. If the jacket fits well it can feel constricting. This Marmot jacket moves with you. The stretch and fit mean it does ride up when you life your arms over your head. 3. The liner is relatively light and smooth and doesn’t bind against a long sleeve shirt. Feels like I could wear this jacket over an office dress shirt and not have them fighting each other. The lightweight also means I’ll stay more comfortable when active, and can layer a fleece vest under the jacket for more insulation. 4. It’s versatile. Works on a hike, in casual dress, or in an office. 5. No branding. I hate being a billboard for a company (looking at you Columbia).

Great!! Highly Recommended!
The media could not be loaded. I looked for a great softshell for such a long time.. This one is perfect!! It's thin and such a warmer. I took it to the desert and it preformed like a pro!

Excellent running jacket
I *love* this jacket! I wear it for running. It is perfect for 30F - 50F temps. (Possibly below 30 also; I’m just not hardy enough to run much below freezing!). Many of my routes are along the Charles River, with a biting wind. The jacket shell blocks the wind far better than any fleece, but breathes enough that I don’t overheat. I pair it with a shortsleeved tech shirt in the 40’s and a long sleeve tech shirt in the 30s; anything more would be too warm. Note: it runs long. I am 5’11” but skinny so I got a small. It fits me perfectly through the body, but even at my height it falls below my waist.

Too Thin
Way too thin! Not warm enough to be a serious shell. Very disappointed that Marmot would put this out.

Better then most
Real nice jacket for layering in winter.Could be a little brighter. Quality made jacket.Highly recommend ! To long in the back has a tendency to snag the back of saddle that can make you fall!

Needed a jacket for layering and cycling.
Looking for a jacket that breathable and waterproof for cycling/hiking etc.Didn't want to a pure cycling jacket since they are usually very thin and not that breathable.I decide to give this jacket a look since most reviews were postive. Its a M3 fabric which means its the most breathable fabric Marmot makes. Its a DWR fabric so it can be use in a light rain, not a downpour and still will wick moisture away from the person.Has some nice smooth zippers YKK zippers. The chest pocket has a slot inside you can run earphones thru them with soft liner.Inside liner has some thickness but do not expect to wear this in cold climates without layering. Its not design for cold weather.Fit its a tad on the large size on length and arm.Not much though so dont size down. There is a bit of stretch in the fabric so if needed you can wear a sweater under the jacket. The only thing they could haved added is thumb holes in the sleeve.Overall a very nice quality good looking jacket. One tip for Marmot remove the name Marmot and put your logo instead. Not as tacky ...

Just what I needed (down to -12)Calgary,AB
I use this jacket for running.Wearing 2layers only (I do run every 3rd day) and it’s great as my top layer. It’s perfect if you run fast cuz you’ll not get cold due to the heat that you’re generating and at the same time it helps evaporating the sweat fast enough. It helped me run the entire winter averaging 150km a month.

Nice jacket, but made for Stretch Armstrong
Pros: Nice quality, if you can get it on sale it can be great value. Cons: - Arms on a large are made for someone who can touch their toes without bending.... anywhere. They could likely be shortened by 3-4". - The jacket is heavier than I expected, quite a bit more than similar-in-concept Eddie Bauer Sandstone, which is a perfect jacket to wear cool summer mornings or evenings. FIT - although called a loose fit, I'd say it's about right, except for the gorilla arms.

Fantastic; breathable and warm.
I bought this jacket for skiing and snowshoeing in the snowy months. Little did I suspect nature would wallop Ottawa with one of the snowiest winters in years. I've had plenty of opportunity to use it. It somehow strikes the perfect balance between warmth and breathability; I'm plenty warm walking to the trailhead and head only a little moist coming back. Compared to my old Goretex, a world of difference. SO far it's only had to content with dry falling snow, so I can't speak to it's weatherproofness, but as an external layer it's fantastic. I usually wear a med, but I ordered a large for extra layering room and it fits great.
