Very Nice Rain Jacket with Good Protection
The jacket arrived in great condition and the size I had ordered (XL). While it is very lightweight, it is of good quality. I wore it recently during a moderately heavy rainstorm and 40 degree temperatures and am very pleased with how well it protected me not only from the rain (my clothes and I stayed totally dry), but also how well it protected from the wind. Also, with the jacket being an XL, I'm able to wear layers underneath, which kept me warm in the cool temperatures during the rainstorm, without the jacket feeling tight and constricting. The non-detachable hood comes down quite a ways over the forehead, so protects hair and glasses from getting wet, and has a drawstring to tighten the hood for further protection-- as does the bottom hem of the jacket. In addition, the jacket, itself, zips up all the way to the bottom of your chin, preventing rain and wind from coming in by your neck. There are also velcro strips that close over the zipper for added protection. The other plus with this jacket is that it's packable. The left front pocket is designed to be large enough to stuff the jacket into if you're traveling, and has a double zipper (ie, on both outside and inside of the pocket) so that once stuffed into the pocket, it can be zipped up to contain the rest of the jacket inside the pocket. And, while this is a little bulky, it's flat enough to easily fit into luggage or even a backpack without taking up a whole lot of room. I definitely recommend this rain jacket.

Good value for the product and jacket has very slight curve at waist that I like.
I ordered several other Columbia Omni Tech Jackets at a 45%, much, higher price. This one was cheaper and I can't tell a difference in the features with one exception. On one of the other jackets the front placket closed with snaps instead of Velcro. This ones front placket, covering the front zipper (to keep it rainproof), closes with Velcro. The only concern I have, is will my sweaters snag on the Velcro? I normally wear a medium but I bought this one a size larger, so it will fit over my fleece jacket. I needed something that was rainproof, but light enough, and easily packable, so I could throw it in my Backpack when I did not need it. I have not used this yet, so I cant comment on it truly being rainproof. The only thing that would make it perfect was if it had an interior pocket and the hood was detachable. The hood was not detachable on the others I ordered and only one other jacket that had an interior pocket, and it was 3 times the price. This jacket has two, zippered, side pockets. I like the way the front closes under my chin to keep the rain & wind out. It has an adjustable, stretchy hood and hemline drawstring. It has a very slight curve at the waist, which I like. (Not a straight box) A nice light weight windbreaker/rain jacket. The length hits me 11 inches below my waist, 4 inches below my hip socket, and just a little above mid thigh. I am 5'6". I bought this in black.

Buena forma

Dry!
Bought for a trip to San Francisco where it never even rained. But it just kept me nice and dry at a soccer game. Fit is ok. I care more about how well it works vs his it looks and it worked perfect.

Rain proof!
Happy to have found this jacket! It really is waterproof! South Florida weather can be unpredictable. I’m so happy to have purchased this jacket just in time for some April showers. The kept me completely dry in a heavy downpour.

Great classic coat, but no more zippered inside pocket and many fewer fine details
Have had this jacket for about three years and have loved it. It can be dressed up a little with career pants and a good bag. I can not stand coats, or anything, with collars around my face and with the hoodie and zipper this is quite flattering if you are the type who lives in v-neck tops. I had this in size 3X and it always was generously sized except a bit snug around the bottom hem. I have lost 45 pounds and was so happy to find this in smaller sizes. I was guessing I would need an XL until I read the reviews about the jacket running small. Then I couldn't decide between the 1X and the 2X. A few reviewers said there was a big difference between the 1X and the 2X and that the arms of this jacket run small. Thank you Amazon reviewers, you were right! I just tried on the 2X and even with the 3X being way too large and the 45 pound weight loss, I needed the 2X in the upper arms and hips. The rest of the jacket is roomy. This is a nicely styled jacket with the zipper and the velcro closure over the zipper for extra protection against rain, and the attached hoodie was the deal-maker. However, many of the quality details of the older version of this coat have been eliminated. The style is the same on the outside where it counts, but in a side by side comparison the fine details I loved are gone. This is more a reflection on quality control than whether you should still buy this coat. Yes! You should still buy it, just see if any of these smaller details will bother you: where the older jacket was detailed with a snap closure at the top and the bottom and three easy velcro closures, the newer jacket has no snaps, but 5 velcro closure points on the flap over the zipper. The jackets though purchased 3years apart are mostly the same with other small differences. Sadly, the roomy zippered security inside pocket is gone. I miss it because that was a safe place to keep items if you were out for a walk and didn't want to carry your purse. The entire lining is not as well made as before: the older jacket's mesh lining is much finer and softer, the inside of the hood had the same lining, and at the outer pocket level, for the bottom 8 inches or so, the mesh ended and the interior of the coat had the same, more durable fabric as outside. That supported what was carried in the 2 outer pockets and gave the coat more substance. Now the hood has no mesh lining. The body of the newer coat has a more open, coarser mesh from the shoulders to the bottom of the coat. My coat is black and the mesh lining is black over a white, or gray, lining that is labelled "OMNI-TECH". Both exterior "hand pockets" are still zippered and lined with mesh, but once again, you are putting your items into double mesh pockets without the fabric reinforcement the old pockets had. The old hoodie had an odd flap with velcro at the back--?? must have served some purpose--but I do not know what. The coat does have an inner hanging loop that is nice in restaurants and places to hang it on a hook to dry. Booth coats have sleeves with a little elastic at the cuffs and a great velcro storm strip at the cuffs to pull the coat very tight around your wrists. The Columbia embroidery and the Omnitech stamp on the left cuff are identical. The hood drawstrings are similar but the old hood had a metal grommet at the opening and a longer, more secure tunnel that the cord pulled through at the end, as well as other minor features being finer on the previous hoodie. The drawstring around the hips is also inferior. All told, you have to wear the jacket for your size. I am grateful they are still making the coat. You would never see much difference in the outer appearance, but it is sad the way producers eliminate the quality details and think the consumer won't notice.

Excellent Buy!
Got a great deal on the Jacket ..Bought it at a discounted price and its totally worth it. The following review of the jacket is just after a fews days of its use in the rains. The Rain jacket is light and comfortable, the outer fabric is nice & soft... It Fits well & surely keeps you dry.. Though I am yet to test it during heavy rains.. It has two pockets on the outer which keeps things dry for a while... But in a case of, continues rain during a trek of 3 hrs water did start to seep into the pocket. Hence the only thing missing was an inner pocket for keeping valuables safe and dry. But it's definitely worth a buy and found it better than the other Rain Jackets available online.

Columbia Jacket
Just received today via addresspal to Ireland. Where to start - I ordered 3x based on 1st review on the page since lady there ordered 3x and she has the same height and weight. Well packed, light, fully mesh lined inside. The downside - I ordered this jacket based on my research and I was led to believe that the jacket has underarm vents. Imagine my disappointment that was not the case. The fit of the jacket - larger, loose, the length is great, just under my bottom so it covers my critical area - belly. However, I believe, I would be fine even with 2x as it is my size. I am UK 22-24. I still haven't decided if I'll return it and order a different style or not. Great material, the hood is great with an extra shield so it covers my cap. Perfect for Irish weather . I haven't tested the jacket in the rain so we'll see how it hold up. Update will follow along with pictures
