Great gift!
I recently purchased the ghd Platinum+ Styler and I'm absolutely in love with it! As someone with naturally curly hair, I've always struggled to find a hair straightener that can handle my hair without causing damage or breakage. Straightens Quickly
I was quite impressed by how quickly I was able to straighten my hair. Most irons I have used took up to 3 passes to fully straighyen my curl. This iron mostly takes 1-2 passes! What use to take me an hour to do, now only takes me 30 minutes! What I don't like and think it can improve upon, is the fact that there is no indicator to let you know the iron is hot. OUCH! Totally burned myself with the first use checking that. Warning: Gets extremely hot within seconds of turning it on!

Great flat iron
I read a lot of reviews and then bought 3 different flat irons, this one was the best of the bunch. It heats up in seconds and had an auto turn off. It works great on your hair.

the BEST so far!
so i had a chi which was over 15 years old and it was time to update. Was looking for something a little less bulky and just "newer" and "updated" as things are always improving. I LOVE the Dyson hair dryer and it was well worth the extra money. so i researched the flat iron as well and the reviews were less than impressive for the Dyson. There were actually demonstrations on youtube where the Dyson was compared to another product and the results were almost identical and some where the other product actually looked better! I realized the "other" product being used in most of those demos was this one! and HALF the price. so while still not "cheap" I feel its a good investment and being that I kept my last flat iron for so long, its not anything i plan on having to replace anytime soon. so worth the extra money up front. It heats up super fast and is easy to hold and move around. This is important when one is doing their own hair. the ones w/ the steam that use "water pods" for example only have it come out of one side of the unit, so if the unit is turned around, its not always the same effect. a product is needed that is easy to move and turn it around to get all the angles needed when one is doing their own hair; especially the back and harder to reach areas. this is light enough weight and easy to maneuver. it has only one heat setting but it got my hair just as straight if not a better effect than the previous ones at a much higher setting so i would think this one is much better for my hair. My style holds for a couple of days until its time to wash again. it also comes w/a rubber protector for the front of the unit. I would still wait until it cooled down but this is great for storage and travel to keep the unit "closed" when not in use. very glad i found this. if wishing to spend the money, for anyone who uses a flat iron, this is also a great high end gift

Works great but...
Works great, but it's too expensive. My other straightner is a GHD and it works just as good for half the price. There are also cuts in the plastic on each side of the plates, so your hair gets caught in the cuts when you're pulling it through your hair. (Item purchased in August 2022)

There is no other flatiron worth your money!
OMG. I have been using flatirons since the mid-90s. I have gone through every brand, including premium pro stylers. They always required repeated passes through my hair which caused dry and damaged hair. The results were never perfectly straight, nor frizz-free, and I consider myself very adept with styling tools, including rollers! My last drugstore-purchased flatiron gave up after three years of not-daily styling and straightening. So, rather than end up with yet another less-than-satisfactory flatiron, I googled "best flatiron) and came across lists of the best for 2019 in all the top fashion mags, Allure, Glamour etc. The one styler at the top or near the top of every list was this one. So I bit the very expensive bullet and ordered it. To say that I am blown away (haha!) by it, is an understatement. I am in love with this thing. Quite apart from the fact that it's quick on, requires no temperature adjustments and can travel, it has left my hair shiny, straight (or curly, if that's what I want) as well as absolutely frizz-free. And I bought it in July, when the weather is humid. It allows me to very easily build in volume and shape, and with a twist of the wrist, waves and fat curls. My GFs all have noticed that my hair looks, as one put it, "more modern." Between the time I ordered it and when it arrived, I saw my colourist and stylist who both said I was nuts for spending so much. I am seeing them next week and I am bringing it to show it to them. That's how much I am impressed. I bet they will be too. Awesome product. No reservations except, perhaps, the price. But, as a life-long frizz fighter, I think it's worth the investment. UPDATE: After I took it to my salon, my guy tried and started raving to the other stylists. Many of them bought one.

Not worth the price
I have purchased many different straighteners in a large range of prices. For me it is really important that my straightener doesn't damage my hair so I'm willing to pay whatever the price tag may be. I chose this one as it says it's professional and helps to keep the hair healthy. I find this to be a mediocre product for its price tag. Pros: Heats very quickly, is easy to use, has a good rotating handle, haven't found it to dry my hair out more than any other straightener. Cons: My hair gets caught under the edge of the blade which has caused hair to break on almost every use, the 'jingle' that plays when you turn it on, off, and once it gets to temp is loud and wakes up my fiancé, there's no way to turn the sound off as far as I can see, hasn't made my hair stronger or healthier as it advertises. So overall, not the best bang for your buck for it's price (could probably find the same results in a straightener that costs $75 less)

A DYSON LOVER WHO CONVERTED!
So this is an honest review from someone who was using Dyson Straightener before that was like $700 and I wasn't quite happy with it..so I started looking for something else.. after doing research on all possible websites and comparing options I decided to go with this guy and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it..BUY it!!

Game changer . your hair will look its best
I have fine frizzy hair with a natural wave. Always had trouble straightening it and making it look nice. for reference I've used Chi and Babyliss flat irons since I was a teenager. I decided to buy the GHD platinum plus on a whim after my Babyliss physically broke. This was after 13 years, so the Babyliss is not a bad flat iron by any means! But HOLY mother of God the GHD. The GHD took my hair to a level I didn't think possible at home. My hair is usually frizzy and now it's not only straight but also SILKY and soft. It moves differently. Its shiny. It has that exact same fresh salon feeling and the best part is it takes about a fraction of the time that the other flatirons did. My mind is blown. Its expensive but hair is something we deal with every day. I couldn't be happier...Itll bring out the best in your hair.

Lots of money, but it’s worth it
I was initially a little leery to purchase this on amazon, I was worried it wouldn’t be “authentic”, but I decided to take the plunge and bought it. Upon arrival, I immediately went to GHD’s website and signed the product up for the warranty and had no problems so I’m happy to report the straightener is a genuine GHD product. This is my first expensive hair tool. All previous straighteners I’ve owned came from drug stores for $40. My hair stylist uses one in her salon on my hair all the time and I’m always so taken by how smooth it feels on my hair and how fast she curls my entire head. It slides like butter and it doesn’t pull the hair at all. I liked her straightener so much that I had to buy one for myself, despite the high price tag. So when it comes to actually using it, it’s very easy. The straightener claims to heat up in 20 seconds, but when I timed it, it actually heated up in 9 seconds which is very impressive. I have fine hair, so I’m always worried about excessive heat burning my hair, so the fact that this straightener didn’t have the option to choose your own heat made me a little nervous, but it’s been just over a month of using it and so far so good! The temperature always seems perfect and it only takes one pass to curl or straighten my hair! Because the shape of the iron is slightly thicker, I find it easier to get a nice curl. All in all, I think this was worth the money. It is a very high quality product and the honest fact is that my cheap drugstore straighteners don’t compare. I’m happy I splurged on this because it performs wonderfully!
