George Foreman 5 serving Grill is just the size I wanted
It is about the size of two original George Foreman 2 serving Grills. I cooked on it the first time yesterday. I had 7 ( small hamburgers about 3 inches in diameter. I was only able to fit 3 of them on at once, cooking them in two batches (4 and then 3). If you make mini hamburgers it would be perfect. The hamburgers were about 3/4 inch thick. They cooked very quickly and had the grill markings on them. I did wipe the grill first with a paper towel with olive oil, but not too much. I put the hamburgers on before the grill light turned green and they still cooked perfectly in a few minutes (if they were still pink inside I was going to finish the cooking in the microwave oven.). I will try chicken next. I used to use the 2 serving George Foreman Grill with drumsticks with bones inside. It cooked them nicely, and then I finished those in the microwave oven. I will try that next time I use the grill. Washing it afterwards I took wet paper towels to wipe off the grills, then removed them with the simple lock in place mechanism on top and bottom grills, washed them with my George Foreman Sponges I ordered on Amazon and Dawn Dishwashing liquid and then dried the grills and put them back on after wiping down the grill. It has a stand in the back that causes the grill to tilt to let grease drip into the tray provided. I used a surge protector to lengthen the plug because it is too short to go from my stovetop to the nearest plug (even though they say it is longer than other George Foreman Grills). After using it it cools down in no time.

A Good Grill
Too bad Amazon doesn't allow half stars. I'd give this a 3.5 rather than a 3 but rounding down due to all the other high reviews. In the past, I had been avoiding GF grills as I know the original ones did not have removable plates. I've gone through several Hamilton Beach grills over the years and did not like some of the changes made recently to my go-to HM model. I saw that this GF offers removable plates and gave it a whirl. I bought my grill on 1/22/13 and the date of this review is 6/17/13. I have used my grill regularly since its purchase. I would estimate I have used it 4 times per week. Initially, I was very impressed with the grill. The plates come out easily and are very easy to clean. It does not have a timer so has to be plugged in and unplugged after each use. That isn't a "must have" feature but I deducted a point due to that. The HM I'd used in the past had a timer so it shut off automatically and also had a ringing sound when the timer hit zero. After a couple of uses, the unplugging becomes habit but if you are OCD you may catch yourself double checking a few times to be sure you unplugged it ;). My other beef is the once impressive non-stick surface isn't as impressive any more. I realize they all wear over time but 5-6 months in to ownership and it isn't holding up that great. I always wash the plates by hand and I take care not to scrub any food material left on the plate after using it. I try to push the material off and take care to rinse the sponge so that I'm not scraping or scaring the non-stick surface. There are no scratches on the plates but at this point they are not extremely easy to clean and some items like fish get broken up when taking it off the plate to eat. It still grills fine, it just isn't as non-stick as it was. Other than the lack of a timer and the non-stick plates becoming a little sticky, I do think this is a good grill. All the non-stick grills I have used will eventually wear out and have food stick to them so the GF isn't unique in that regards but I do feel it should have taken a bit longer to get to this point. In a nutshell, I think this is a good product and being sold at a fair price. It is basic in that it does not have a timer and the non-stick plates will lose some of their luster but for the cost, this is probably one of the better grills available.

Why Mess With Perfection?
I purchased this grill to replace an older model I've had for years because the grill plates were damaged. This newer model is similar to the original I used and loved for years with a few exceptions. 1 - The grill plates are smaller - not as deep as previous model. 2 - The removable grill plates are not as easy to put back on to the unit when removed for cleaning. The previous grill plates had a brilliant 'clam shell' like handle design. You would tilt the handle toward you could easily remove or replace the grill plates to the unit. Never a hassle. This new design has small flat levers embedded in the handle that need to be *exactly* lined up with the unit to replace them after cleaning. The lower plate is not difficult to replace, but the upper plate takes some wiggling around to get it to set properly back into place. Other than that, it grills well. I thoroughly washed the grill plates, letting them soak in hot soapy water, before I used it the first time as other reviews stated the unit smelled like plastic burning when first used. Not the case with my unit - maybe because of the cleaning / soaking of the grill plates before the first use. Overall, for the price, I'm pleased with this purchase.

Small and possibly unsafe
As mentioned by others, size was not as expected. Much smaller than it seems in the picture. I went to use mine for the third time and it seemed to have an electrical fire inside. It smelled so bad and had smoke coming out of it. I would love to return it.
