Great for when every bit of size makes a difference
I have the 1/4 drive metric stubby socket set variation of this listing, #81394. I have become a fan of stubby sockets after having the OEMTools 3/8 chrome stubby set and later the Astro 3/8 impact stubby set. I was hesitant at first to buy into this stubby / low profile socket concept. The size reduction is not that drastic, but it is there. I also question the overall strength and durability of the sockets when you consider that metal is removed to make the sockets smaller. I ordered this set as I always felt my 1/4 drive sockets were too long, almost like the shallow were actually mid length, although realistically, they are not that long. I am very pleased with the reduced size of these. I specifically like the 10-15mm sizes, as it is often easier to start and snug fasteners with 1/4 tools then finish with 3/8. This is simply because of ease of access in many areas plus the weight of the tools when longer extensions are needed. These are not my go-to sockets, but are a great option to have. I quickly found that once I had this type of socket, they become a real time saver. I quickly see these are one of those specialty tools that is not a gimmick but one that shines when the need for them comes up. Often there is a fastener slightly behind something, where you cannot just go straight in. Other tools like wobble extensions, swivel sockets, universal joints, etc have ways of addressing this. I found that using a stubby socket with a wobble extension provides a more solid and stable grip than a swivel socket with hand use. I would not suggest these sockets to someone looking for a first or only socket set, I would suggest to get normal sized sockets to start with. If you get these sockets, have realistic expectations on size. There is only so much material that can be removed, as you still need to go onto a ratchet anvil and need room for the fastener in the socket. Additionally, I notice some of the sockets feel super light, almost like a little piece of tin. The sockets I have used work just fine, but I am also not placing large ratchets or impacts on these things. I use these by hand only, and when there is no need for high torque, just tight space access. To me at least, what I describe above is what they are intended for, especially in 1/4 drive. Others might find other good applications for these and I hope if they do, the experience and use is shared. I would also suggest to potential buyers to consider 1/4 drive universal sockets before getting these. These sockets will need wobble extensions and possibly a universal joint to gain the full functionality of universal sockets while only offering better direct access over the universal socket. The universal socket can be somewhat hard to work with at times, but it is more versatile. This set becomes most useful when you add a low profile universal/swivel and a good set of wobble extensions.

MUST HAVE
Gearwrench is awesome and so is this set! It's perfect for hard to reach areas where headroom is of issue. WELL worth the money!

Can get you into impossible spots
Combine these with Gearwrench’s thin ratchet and you can get on otherwise impossible bolt heads. Good quality as you would expect from Gearwrench.

Top quality
Arrived nicely packaged. This stubby set both looks and feels very well made. This is a top brand that has never failed me. They are very solid and work extremely well. I use them daily in my mechanic shop. I definitely recommend!

Awesome socket organizing rail.. oh, and it comes with some nice sockets, too.
Alright, so all kidding aside, GW's socket rails are something I've been known to hunt for. The problem is, finding the rails without the sockets, has become nearly impossible.. so I've resorted to 3d printing knockoffs, as it were. So, when I bought this set of sockets (yes, I actually bought it for the sockets, since I'm a fan of the no-bind design that GearWrench has been doing for awhile) I was utterly shocked when it came with another rail, considering based on the images, I assumed I was buying a set of sockets without the rail. Anyway, since the primary reason why so many people will buy these, is due to the sockets, and NOT the rail, I suppose I should explain why these things rock, egh? If you're like me, chances are, you have a ton of various sockets in your toolbox. I have a few small good sets, but I have a TON of el-cheapo brands too. Over the years, I've had sockets break on me, strip out, and most annoyingly... bolt heads sheared off with them, and then sort of jammed/stuck in them. The design of these particular sockets, are such that you shouldn't have to worry about a head binding in the socket, to the point that it becomes difficult to take off.. this is especially a concern when dealing with pneumatic or electric ratchets, which can tighten a bolt or nut down super fast, and create a bind, that becomes a royal pain to detach.. all while trying to NOT have to remove the entire bolt/nut again. I had a very small subset of stubby sockets, and had never gotten the opportunity to purchase a full set, until we started doing some work, a couple weeks ago. The wife cleared it, and I grabbed this set. So far, they're holding up without any problems, and are being used, primarily on an electric ratchet to speed things along. No binding, no stripping, and no cracking/crazing of the plating on these, either. If I had one wish, I wish GW would start black filling their sizing stamps, to make them a bit easier to read in bright light. This is not a limitation of GW's sockets, but rather a large number of manufacturers. Still, I guess I can keep using a black oil pen to fill the stamp in, to make it easier.. would just have been nice to have that already done. Now, if you'll excuse me.. I need to start sorting through my loose sockets, and get rid of some of the cheaper ones, to make room for this set to have its permanent home in my toolbox.

Good stubby socket set
I have a very basic collection of tools, but I have always had luck with Gearwrench products. This stubby socket set is perfect to use with my Gearwrench ratchets and they work really well for hard to reach places. This 13 piece set has a good range of sizes and are conveniently organized on a tray so you don't have to worry about losing pieces. They are great quality and very sturdy and easy to use. Overall, they are a great socket set to add to my tool collection.

Good set of sockets (except for teeny-tiny print)
Good set of sockets for the homeowner’s tool box. They are a good weight and are machined well. They come on and off my ratchet smoothly. Conversely, they do not come out of their storage rail easily at all and are quite frustrating to remove. Also, there is so much unnecessary engraving around each socket that it is almost impossible to read its size without a magnifying glass.

Nice sockets
These stubby, shorter sockets are great when getting into tight spaces. And this is a nice set giving a large variety of sizes without skipping any. The quality appears good and the holder is very nice. I am not sure if they deserver the high price tag.
