Cable was too short, but still worked
Cable was too short even though GE said it was the right one for my dishwasher model. Luckily, all I needed was the plastic clip that connects to the door, so I pried it off the new cable and attached it to the old one, and all is good. Still, minus one star for the size error. If I needed the actual cable instead of just the clip, it wouldn't have worked.

A good DIY project to save a service call
There are videos online including from other parts suppliers and YouTube showing how to do this repair. Takes about 15 minutes including getting tools Turn off breaker to dishwasher. Only needs to be pulled out about 1/2 way. You need to have enough water and drain tube length so they will not disconnect but will allow the dishwasher to move out. Easier than video.

Mark the original install position
Not a 3 min job. Add 5 min to take the DW out and 15 min to put it back in. Worked on a 2006 GE DW. Not an exact fit for the three hole version but mine used the shortest position hole anyways. Unless the hook has separated from the cable, you will need to loosen/remove the pulley wheel. To do this, it’s a big hassle to detach the DW from the cabinet, detach the supply line if rigid copper, lower the legs, and pull the DW out - just so you can access the screw on the outside of the wheel. It may be a good idea to mark the install depth and height of the DW before removal.

Easy fix for falling dishwasher door
Our dishwasher door hinge cable had been broken for sometime and we just got used to holding on to the door and letting it down easy. But, we recently sold our home to a family with a 1 year old child. So I told hubby, this door has to be fixed and ordered the hinge cable and in a very short time the door was fixed! Perfect! Now I don't have to worry about the baby pulling the door open on herself. You don't realize how heavy a dishwasher door is until the hinge doesn't work.

A cheap DIY fix to a major problem
I love our dishwasher. When the door spring let loose I thought I'd need to either pay for an expensive repair or buy a whole new unit. I searched online for fixes and found this one, watched some videos to make sure I could do the repair, and then ordered it. It wasn't the spring, rather the little nylon piece broke that attaches the spring and cable to the door. Worked like a champ. Hardest part was figuring out how to pull the dishwasher out a little bit so I could put this on (just a couple screws holding the dishwasher in place). So if your dishwasher door is flopping open and you have moderate DIY skills and motivation then this might be an easy win for you.
