Slow Customer Support

Purchased a number of fixtures. One was missing the mounting hardware. Called their customer support and was given and e-mail address. Sent an e-mail requesting the mounting hardware. 3 days later and "CRICKETS" so can't recommend any of the GATCO product line. If that changes, I will update my review. 3 weeks later - no support; downgraded to 1 star Update 5/24/2022: Finally received a reply from Gatco asking for my shipping address; Awaiting parts Update: 6/4/2022 - Received parts in the mail. Quality of the items are a bit over mid-range.

Looks and feels like a quality piece of hardware

Looks and feels like a quality piece of hardware. The only complaint I have is in the description with regard to the size of this item. I wanted a ring with a diameter of about 6 inches, I measured it today and it has an O.D. of 6.5 inches which is fine. However if you look in the product description under size it is listed as 7 x 2.2 x 8 inches. So actually, that is the size of the box it's in and not the product itself! Who cares about the size of the box as long as it is small enough to fit through the door? Many product descriptions do the same idiotic thing and give the size of the box and not the actual size of the item. I find it very confusing and misleading when they all do this much of the time. Who are the idiots who write these product descriptions?

Squeaky when you move the ring and down.

Squeaky when you move the ring and down. Overall construction quality looks and feels good. Would probably buy something else next time, but the price was really good.

Screech with movement of ring

We have two of these rings in our powder room and will need to replace. With any movement they make a horrible screeching sound-like bad playground equipment. They failed to add a plastic piece in between the ring and base, as our other towel rings have. If you find a screeching sounds annoying, chose a different product. Otherwise, they are good.

Made our master bathroom look MUCH better

We purchased this towel ring as well as the matching toilet paper holder and robe hook for our master bathroom about 5 months ago. Our local home improvement store had the same set, but at a much higher price. We're very happy with all of the pieces in the set so far. Our bathroom is small, and the towel ring and other pieces don't take up too much space. I love the satin nickel finish, and the design is simple but not too plain. So far we've had no issues with the items, and our bathroom looks much better with them vs. our old hardware. I'd actually like to get another robe hook, because it takes up so little space on the wall but gives a great place to hang something up out of the way.

Love it and fairly easy to install!

This was fairly easy to install by myself, (but I love projects and using my new cordless drill!). I used a 1/4" drill bit instead of the recommended 5/16" just to be safe. I'd rather have a hole that is too small to start with than too large as I install wall anchors. To save a little headache and time, when you insert and screw in the set pin, start installing the screw before you set the accessory in the hardware on the wall. Pretty towel ring looks great in my new place. I bought the matching toilet paper holders and robe hooks in the same family. I also had someone in hardware at Lowe's run through the installation instructions with me before I started the project which was soooo helpful!

It's a Towel Ring

Purchases this towel ring because it matched the decor of the bathroom. Was fairly straight forward to install and all necessary hardware was provided. So far it works just like a towel ring is expected to work.

Lightweight and feels cheap, like plastic not metal.

I was won over by all of these positive reviews on Amazon so I bought most of the Gatco Latitude line (towel ring, toilet paper holder, and two of the double towel bars). I'm a first time homeowner so in my ignorance I had nothing to compare the Gatco to. I very slowly and carefully installed the two towel bars. They seemed fairly sturdy. Then my wife wanted me to install the Gatco towel ring where the existing towel hook (non-Gatco that came with the house) was. When I pulled of the towel hook, I thought to myself, "What the...!" This thing is super heavy and feels like solid steel, so different from the Gatco. The Gatco stuff now felt like plastic sprayed with chrome paint! Nevertheless, I kept to the plan, working at a snail's pace, and hung the Gatco towel ring. Still bothered (and very impressed) by the heavy-duty towel hook that I moved, I went to Home Depot to see if I could find more bathroom wall products with that heavy, solid-steel feeling. That trip wasn't very successful as everything felt light, cheap, and plastic-like. So, I searched Amazon reviews, looking for multiple people talking about heavy duty bathroom wall mounts. The Kohler Coralais line was talked about in just this way (and priced similarly to the Gatco), so I took a chance and ordered their towel ring. Voila! Solid steel! The difference was significant between the Gatco and the Kohler. I immediately sent the Gatco towel ring (this was their flimsiest, cheapest-feeling product) and Gatco toilet paper holder back to Amazon, and then ordered a second Kohler towel ring and two of the Coralais toilet paper holders. The Gatco towel bars already were installed, sturdy enough, my wife liked their look, and I didn't want to put more holes in the wall or do much more work, so they stayed. I'm very surprised by all the positive reviews of the Gatco Latitude line. Perhaps people aren't as picky as me? Or were ignorant like me? Or like the modern look of the Latitude II line (I admit that it does look nicer and more modern than the Kohler Coralais line)? Or have given up finding something solid because everything is becoming plasticized? If you want solid metal bathroom wall pieces, don't buy the Gatco Latitude line, especially the towel ring which bends way too easily. I wish I had read a review like this before I splurged on the entire Latitude II line.

Garbage. Don't waste your time or money.

Don't buy it. I hesitantly purchased this after seeing mixed reviews on Amazon.com. I did what everyone said to do, move the towel ring back and forth before mounting and with ONE movement all the black coating peeled off within 1" of the joint. Sent back the 2 sets of entire bathroom accessories
