Buying another one!

Very happy. I bought all the Gatco black fixtures when we remodeled. Finding I need another towel bar.

Great quality but won't install properly.

Will start by saying that I purchased this from the Amazon Warehouse. I'm assuming it was in brand new condition since the packaging appears to have never been opened, but the outer box was a little roughed up. Great bargain considering the discount. With that said, the towel bar itself is pretty great quality, and fairly simple to install. Its designed in a way that once anchored, mounted, and screwed in to the wall, there's an additional two small screws on the bottom of the ends meant to keep it from coming off the mount. Pretty simple concept, except the small screws really didnt secure anything. I've screwed them in as far as they go, and made sure all the parts are where they are meant to be, but the bar can still easily be lifted at an angle and removed. I think the solution will be to either find different screws that can go in further, or use some sort of adhesive to permanently secure it to the wall. That's pretty much my only complaint. Other that its a pretty decent towel bar for the price!

Not awful, but I'm a little disappointed...

I'll just say it up front: these aren't bad, but they're not the towel bars I'm looking for. I'm going to keep them, but they certainly don't measure up to my expectations after reading all the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I wasn't looking for a heavy-duty, ADA-compliant hand rail, but I was hoping for something more solid -- along the lines of "hotel grade" construction, that could stand up to a little abuse and grabbing. I've found such a beast at my local Orchard Supply in the past, for about thirty bucks, but they've since disappeared from their shelves, and my searching ended in vain. This towel bar is definitely superior to the flimsy "square bar with two end caps" style that most of us are likely trying to avoid, but there's nothing "solid" about this: although technically it comes as one piece, the two "arms" that extend the bar out from the wall aren't rigidly fixed -- there's a slight amount of play, and the three pieces are bolted together through a not-quite-solid connection. Thankfully, the slight play isn't apparent once the bar is mounted to the wall. But I could immediately feel the thin gauge of tubing used -- it's way too lightweight and tinny sounding to inspire any confidence. What this means is that, despite my opening the drywall to install ply blocking to affix these bad boys to, I'm reasonably certain they're not going to survive the mistreatment of my gymnastic pre-K kids, nor my slightly clumsy octogenarian father in law, at least not without a few dents, bows, and bends. I don't intend my 3-star "It's OK" rating to be derogatory other than saying, "these are OK, better than not-OK, but certainly not great." The chrome polished finish certainly seems good. If that's what you're looking for, great (I'm not entirely unhappy with the purchase -- they're decent, and they match the room), but if you want something high caliber, or just something sturdy enough to confidently grab a hold of for whatever slippery floor oops lost my balance reason, look elsewhere. Edit: Found it! Harney Hardware 79206 is my towel bar point of reference, and if it's any indication of their standard of quality, I wouldn't hesitate to order their 23016 Boca Grande towel bar, which doesn't look quite as heavy duty, but is in the style of this Gatco bar, at a lower price.

Parts missing; No support from gatco customer service 3 weeks in. Update 5/24/2022: Finally received a reply from Gatco asking for my shipping address; Awaiting parts Update: 6/4/2022 - Received parts in the mail. Quality of the items are a bit over mid-range.

One. Hour. To. Install. But It Looks Great and is Solid.

Ok, I rarely post a product review on Amazon. But this took so long to install that I am motivated on this one. Don't get me wrong, its up, its solid and it looks great. The three stars is for installation time. One hour. For a towel rack. Really? I am pretty handy for doing things around the house. I've repaired plumbing, installed light fixtures, built a tree house in the back yard, etc, etc. I'm in my mid-fifties, so I've had decades of doing this stuff. I had all the tools necessary and close at hand for this job. And yet, one hour. For a towel rack. Their instructions were good, and their recommendation to cut out the template to mark the screw holes was ok (they should have recommended using a level, I added that on my own). The breakdown comes with the tightening screws mounted under the brackets. Do what I didn't do to save SOME time: tighten them as much as you can before you put it on the wall. Once its on the wall you get less than one half turn of the allen wrench (supplied). Then you have to pull it out, find the small hole, fit the wrench and turn it once more less than one half a turn. I didn't count how many times, but it was a bunch. And if you have mid fifties eyes like I do and need reading classes to see up close, have them handy for this job. I did, and still had trouble. Turn the screw. Remove the wrench. Try to line up the wrench to turn it again. Slip it in. Turn it again. The hardest part was fitting the wrench prior to the turn. Each. and. every. time. One. hour. to. install. That is part of my Saturday I won't get back. But it looks great and is solid.

Attractive!

This is a nice bar. I also purchased the matching glass shelf. They both look lovely in the bathroom, and I am happy with the purchase. 4 stars, not 5 - the bar is installed to the left of the bathroom sink, and when I am at the sink, I tend to put my hand on the bar, perhaps to hang a towel, or dry my hands, or simply to steady myself. And it is at these times when I worry about the strength of the bar itself. It is positioned firmly on the wall, drilled into studs - but the metal feels like plastic, and my confidence is a bit shaken. The bars are attractive. I will report back in awhile as to their sturdiness after a few months of daily use.

Not the best

This is the first negative product I have reviewed on Amazon. I expected a good solid towel rail, however, the product is light and has a 'plastic' feel to it. Additionally there was a grub screw missing, so I am going to have to source a replacement. I would have sent it back but really could not be bothered as it is 'partially' fitted on the wall. I will wait for it to break and go into the shops to identify a robust product. Sorry for the negative review.

Solid, lovely... not easy to install!

I really love the elegant design and specially the satin nickel color. Very solid and good quality. It has weight to it, so you really feel the quality. However, it is not obvious to install. They should provide a drilling pattern with the product. A cheap paper pattern would do the trick. I've place a piece of foam on both end and used a marker. I've aligned to the wall and pressed so the marker would appear on the wall. It helped very much mounting this product. Still would recommend, because the final result is beautiful.

Looks great. Needs better wall anchors

Looks great. Needs better wall anchors. After a few weeks of gentle use (I was worried about this from the beginning, the anchor points are by design very close together) I have to take it down, put in my own hardier wall anchors. Seems to work ok now.
