A great marine mount for the Montana 600
I have a couple of boats in different places and needed a new gps for both of them. One boat had an old mounted gps that gave up the ghost and for the other I used a battery-powered Garmin Map 76S with a small B&W screen. Changing batteries and keeping enough charged, rechargeable batteries was a pain. Since I wanted a portable gps with a large color display and touch screen, I opted for the Montana 600. I also wanted to avoid the hassle of changing batteries (the 600 really goes through batteries if constantly used), so I purchased a Garmin Marine Mount w/ Power Cable for each boat. The mount is easy to install and connect to the power source and it really works slick. The mount holds the unit in landscape orientation and offers both vertical and horizontal movement to adjust the gps to any position for viewing. It is easy to adjust, but the tension adjustment in both horizontal and vertical postion prevents the unit from moving on it's own due to rough conditions or accidental bumps. The Montana is mounted by aligning the plates with the pins and pushing the upper part of the Montana into a spring-loaded latch that snaps into place when the Montana is seated correctly. This latch securely holds the gps in place on the mount; removal of the gps is easily and quickly accomplished by pushing the latch and leaning the Montana forward and out of the mount. Power is provided to the unit through a set of brass (?) pins on the mount and flat (brass?) plates on the mount. The mount's power cable has the normal bundled set of wires w/fuse for Garmin gps which includes a NMEA out for the marine radio or for serial/usb connectors for a computer or other electronics. The mount's cable can either be attached to a constant power source or source with on/off switch. The Montana turns own when placed in the mount with constant power and turns on/off with the switchable source. The Montana does provide the option for remaining on or turning off in "x" seconds when the power is turned off or the Montana is removed from the cradle. The Montana Li-ion battery pack is kept fully charged while in the cradle. The mount has a "rubber" cover that is attached to the mount with a loop and can be placed on the mount to protect the brass pins when the Montana is removed. The only negative thing about the mount is that the power cable can not be disconnected from the mount. This makes it difficult to remove the mount during the off season when the boat isn't in use. This exposes the mount to long periods of UV rays which have a tendency to destroy plastic. The mount makes no claim for UV resistance so I have no idea how long the mount will last when constantly exposed to the sun. I have a method where I can remove the panel the mount is attached to and place it out of the sun during layup. The power and audio cable requires the drilling of or use of an existing, large diameter hole due to the fuse and dual cable combination. If the power/audio cable were easily detachable from the mount, sun exposure and cable location would not be of problems. If you want to use one of the newer, touchscreen Montana GPS' for marine use, I highly recommend using this mount.

Rzr 900/1000 mount
Used to install a 610T or 650(can’t remember exactly) to a RZR 900. Few places I could have mounted, settled on above the center speedometer on the top flat surface. Solid enough to get the job done and above any high water crossings. This seemed to be the fastest and cheapest option. Every other option I considered was double $$ or had a location drawback of visibility (behind steering wheel), or too low (using the square cubby under speedo).

made it very easy to keep an eye on the GPS tracks and ...
This is a must have for myself. When tracking rivers we have to know where the channel is and use GPS tracks to guide us through some sections due to constant change in river conditions. This was the difference for us and other who ended up high and dry with their boats this summer. It kept my battery charged on the GPS, made it very easy to keep an eye on the GPS tracks and view the river with our 18 ft flat bottom boat. Mounted right on to our Aluminum console and was durable enough to last over 100 hours of drive time so far. Great product.

Awesome GPS holder W/ power !!!
I have purchased 2 of these. One for my snow machine and one for my river boat. The mount is built tough and holds my GPS VERY securely. For years I used to change out batteries over and over in my GPS's. Its awesome having an endless power supply off of my boat/snowmachines battery. Installation could not have been easier, just connect the 2 wires to your battery and drill a couple of holes to attach the mount.

Well built mount.
The ease of use of my GPS now with this mount. No more pulling out the gps unit out my pocket on my utv. It’s right in front of me when I’m driving into the wilderness.

High Durability and Adjustability
I mounted the Powered Garmin Marine Mount to the dash of our Razor, with an aluminum backing plate beneath the plastic. I connected the power wires at the buss bar under the "hood", so now my Garmin Montana GPS is always powered-up (while riding), and the internal battery charge remains full for the occasional trail hike.

Good purchase
The "marine" mount GPS system was cheaper than the mount that came without the swivel. I bought it for my Garmin Montana 610 that I Mounted to my motorcycle. I wired it up through a relay to my ignition and it works like a charm. I really like that it locks the GPS in place so it won't fall out.

Nice mount
Perfect in every way., does what it's designed for. The key is a bit small, but stops someone just grabbing the sat.
