Awesome costume

I would recommend it

First: Size, because that was the hardest thing to find when looking at reviews! The size I ordered was medium/large 10-14. I would say that is true to size. I am a little under 5'8 and weigh 168 lbs. I wear between a 10 ans 12 jean. The laces on the front of the dress allow you to let it out or pull it in to adjust the size, which allows a lot of wiggle room (yes the pun is intended!) Bare foot, the dress pools just a little on the floor, so I will be able to wear a SMALL heel. Since I am going to an out door party, my heel will be boot heels and perfect to get the length right. Again though.. I am rather tall. For another lady, nice heels in this dress would look and work great. The dress itself... My 3 year old called me princess when I walked out of the bedroom... Enough said.. lol Seriously, it is very pretty. The fabric feels nice. It's not the thin cheap feel one would expect.The ribbon used to on the front of the dress isn't sewn well together which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I may replace it, because there are loose strings hanging from it. Though I am inclined to believe no every single one would be like that, as ribbon usually comes on a long roll and more than likely I just got an icky piece of a roll! The color is beautiful. The back does not buckle on the zipper. (I've had a few costumes that lace up the front to adjust the size and the back will buckle if laced right) this does not. It does feel well made enough that I think I may be able to use it more than one year. I definitely like the look and feel of it.

NICE FOR THE PRICE... BUT PLUS SIZE LADIES, TAKE HEED!

I purchased this costume in the "18W-24W" one-size-fits-many size... and paid under $40. I've noted a few fine points below. ...The faux velvet, while a bit sheer, is a lovely, rich color and has a lush feel. The costume IS hand washable; a bonus since many costumes, especially highly embellished ones, are dry clean only or worse yet, spot-clean only. ...The embroidered trim is inexpensive and a bit scratchy, but it has a luxe look, doesn't touch the skin inside the gown, and is good enough for an item worn once or twice a year. ...The gold bodice lacing is flimsy and wrinkled, but adequate. Don't think it would survive ironing, but I'll try a spray wrinkle remover... then replace it with a heavier-weight gold cording for future wear. ...Re: sizing: I usually wear between 18W-20W in department-store ready-to-wear. This gown zips in back, and the ONLY way to adjust the size is by adjusting the bodice lacing. It DOES have extra room in the bodice, and the flared skirt is very forgiving. I'm ok with the final fit... but when laced, the embellished edge of the upper bodice gaps, and will need to be pinned inside (can live with that). Must say the sleeves AND the gown are both plenty long, even for my 5'10" height. But the upper fitted portion of the sleeves JUST fits, with a little room to move, so if you're at the top end of the size range and your upper arms are larger, be aware. Overall, I'm pleased... this gown will be great for Halloween as well as RenFaire attendance. Don't hesitate to give it a try!

A very nice costume.

This is a nice, quality product. The fabric is not lusciously thick, or anything, but given today's super thin fabrics I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and decent thickness. It did not feel like a cheap outfit at all. I felt elegant when I wore it and got lots of compliments. Some notes on size: I'm a pretty average size 10 and after reading the reviews I decided to order the medium/large size 10-14. I'm 5'4" tall and have a medium frame, but have a large bust line. I didn't want it to be too tight on the arms, as had been mentioned, and it wasn't. I wanted it to fit my bust, and it was readily adjustable, as had been mentioned. Also, the velvety fabric is stretchy, so that helped as well. There are a couple things I'd like to point out. The dress was too tall for my 5'4" frame. I wore two-inch heels and still needed to lift it off the ground. This was okay because it fit the courtier persona I was portraying. It would easily fit a much taller woman. Since I'm only a size 10, the bodice fabric puckered a bit when I cinched it in. This was easily remedied by tucking the extra fabric in under the ribbons that run vertically down the sides of the front. The cinching ribbon was a bit cheap and didn't look like it fit well with the rest of the costume. I'll probably buy a heavier, possibly braided, cord to replace it. The costume came folded in a plastic bag, about 12" x 14", yet I was able to wear it that evening after only letting it hang a couple hours. Not having to iron was a big plus! I would definitely recommend this costume. It's a nice outfit that doesn't feel cheap and that easily adjusts to fit your body type.

Nice for the Price...wish it came in a Medium Size

This is a very nice dress for the price. I wore it as my Rapunzel dress and got many compliments. My only complaint is that it only comes in 2 sizes. I wear a size 8, which puts me right in between the two sizes, so I ordered the larger one to be on the safe side. I am glad I did because it fit well around the middle after I tied it as tight as possible. I wear a 36D bra and this fit well across the bust, but there was still some breathing room. I liked that it was modest since I had to wear it at work. I am 5'6" and the sleeves on this costume were extremely long so that with my arms down you couldn't see my hands at all. Also, I had to wear boots with a 2 in heel so that it wouldn't drag on the floor. For these reasons, I really wish they would make this in a size medium for us "average size" gals who wear between a 6 and 10. The other issue I had was the delivery. I requested Next Day but the Seller failed to inform me that I would need to be present for delivery, so I had to sign off on the Fedex slip and wait til the next day. Overall I liked the costume and was glad I was able to work with it.

Mid evil costume.

The material is a stretchy velvet. The arms are a little snug but not too uncomfortable. Over all, it looks ok as well.

Really happy with this

Really happy with this! I used it for a Winnie Sanderson costume which lead me to win a Halloween costume competition. The dress is better quality than I was expecting. Very comfortable to wear and I echo what a reviewer said, get a bigger size if you don't have slim arms; the arm bands are not adjustable.
