All Clad quality, good temp control, easier to clean than Waring fryer BUT oil tank issues....
This is a nice fryer and it's a LOT like the less glitzy T-Fal EZ Clean deep fryer which is between $70 and $100 cheaper than this All Clad model. I like All Clad in general but as near as I can tell, this product was discontinued by All Clad exactly when I purchased it in early October, 2020 but it still pops up as available on Amazon. It’s not on the All Clad website. Most other online sites also have variable stock. Pro: -Easier to clean than my old Waring 5 quart fryer which was a pain in the butt to maintain, particularly the heating element. -Holds 3.5 quart of oil which is decent food capacity for 2-3 people. Do NOT overfill! Bad outcomes occur with overfilling! -Breakaway power cord - big safety improvement over the hard wired 12 gauge wire/plug on my old Waring that a guest of mine caught their hand on and pulled the Waring off the counter 2 years ago. Thankfully the oil had cooled off but it was a HUGE mess. One oil spill disaster hint - cat litter is GREAT for absorbing any oil!!! -The magnetic power plug has a light hold and it comes loose easily but at least you're not cleaning up a gallon+ of oil and no one gets hurt. -Basket has a "squeeze and release" handle. My old Waring basket handle was bolted on and it was a pain to remove. -An electronic count down timer that actually sort of works and buzzes when done. My Waring had a an analog knob with a kids bicycle bell "ding" when it was done. It’s not great but it’s better. -Semi-sealed display panel that allows for easy cleanup. The dial switch for the oil temp is not sealed -Heats quickly (68 degrees to 385 degrees in 13 minutes) and recovers faster than my 5 quart Waring fryer Con: -You have to be very careful when emptying the oil from the "clean oil tank" back into the fryer. Be SURE to oil is cool! It's a 2 piece holding tank and it wants to come apart when you pour the oil back into the fryer and the drain hole is small - a little over an inch in diameter and the weight of the oil can cause the top and bottom of the holding tank to separate at the wrong time. Be careful! -Lower oil capacity compared to the Waring means smaller batches and extended cooking time. This is NOT a commercial fryer - it's a small, nice quality household fryer for 2-3 people or 2 hours of cooking for a crowd of 8+ (pre-COVID days!) -As I mentioned, Do NOT overfill the oil because it will leak out on your counter/table when you transfer the oil to the holding tank. Even an ounce above capacity will spill over. The oil tank is marked for "max fill" - go to the bottom of that line and you'll be fine. As I mentioned in my opening paragraph, there is something odd going one with this fryer relative to availability and registration with All Clad because on their website, this device does NOT exist!. I tried to register the online warranty but the All-Clad website does not recognize any model number for the fryer. A search of the All Clad website for this device came up empty as of 10/20. It was maddening trying to register for the All Clad warranty online. I finally mailed in the hard copy warranty. Not sure if that will work. The photos I included are of the oil drain screen and the “Min/Max” oil fill lines. The problem with the drain screen is that it’s difficult/impossible to take apart to clean and fine materials like flour from fried chicken can plug up the outlet. The flour is so fine it gets through the screen. As you can see in the photo of the drain, despite cleaning with Dawn dish soap and an industrial degreaser, there is still junk under the screen. Hope this hands on review helps you make the proper choice for your situation - cheers!

As good as it's rated...
I bought this as it was on the higher price range of highly rated deep fryers. I'm glad I bought it. I think it had the highest consumer reports rating and and was at the top of most any reviews of deep fryers, but it was more expensive. I have owned a "medium" priced oil fryer and it wasn't nearly as well made, nor as easy clean. The oil gets hotter much more quickly and maintains the temperature and the filtering process is effortless. I find this deep fryer much easier to clean and to recycle the oil for multiple uses. It's not cheap, but it's a home run for me.

With practice and planning, frying becomes an endurable, almost pleasant, task
All-Clad claims this deep fryer is easy to clean. Well....kinda': Most parts can go into the dish washer. Some can go immediately into the dish washer. The fry "bowl" (as they call it) will drain the oil, but you have to get in there with a big handful of paper towels and dredge out the sloughed-off breading/coating before putting it in the dish washer. It is a messy business. Worse than this: The control panel/motor/heating coils are all connected and the cumbersome piece cannot go into the dish washer. It all has to be wiped by hand. You will notice, please, that All-Clad dares not show us a picture of that large cumbersome piece on this product page. I'll tell you why: If you saw--not just imagined in your mind's eye--this obnoxious piece that is totally unbalanced and goes in several different directions--you'd never buy it! Bottom line: This piece is not easy to clean. It is very hard to clean, and it's impossible to totally remove the grease spatters from the control/motor box. But the other pieces are efficient enough, and they remove easily, and they do not weigh a lot, so they do clean up easily in the dish washer. Although, if you want the fryer parts to remain shiny and un-scratched, you will probably want to give them their own, separate, trip through the washer. Then again, usually, I've not had to wash the very large outside shell of the fryer, so the other pieces might have been able to fit in with the dishes. I like: The innovative storage container for the drained oil. One does not have to handle the oil when it is hot. The container stays attached to the outer shell until you want to use the fryer again. Then the container slides out like a drawer. Unscrew the plug, angle/tip the container to pour the oil back into the fry box. I really like: The oil heats up quickly and pretty much stays at temp. I never had a fryer before, so I was pleasantly surprised just how fast the oil comes to temperature. And the system is very good at keeping the oil at your preferred temperature. The instruction booklet sucks: Thank goodness the controls are simple, so you can ignore the confusion that the booklet forces upon you. There are all kinds of contradictions. I eventually gave up on the booklet and just used my common sense. The simple chart of temperature settings are pretty much worthless. My advice: Give this machine a few runs before using with guests in the house. See where its short-comings are and make a plan how to get the pieces assembled and disassembled and into the dish washer or sink. For instance, I now have my fryer on a stainless steel (below counter height) rolling cart--stored out in the garage. (The cart has locking wheels, which is a necessity.) I wheel it out the door, (flat path with no ups/downs), to a concrete patio and I fry out there, where the smell can dissipate. I sit with drink in hand, a pair of tongs and a platter, and watch the scenery and have a pleasant time of it. When done frying, I wheel it all back in, (flat, smooth concrete all the way; pebbled surfaces, lots of cracks, etc. will have your oil going everywhere.....) The next day, I go out at my convenience and start moving the parts to my kitchen--my oil is already drained into its drawer compartment.

Good Quality
This deep fryer has a nice capacity and can easily handle eight medium sized pieces of chicken. With the oil drain resevoir it it easy to filter and store the oil, then dissamble the fryer and pop it into the dishwasher for an easy, thorough cleaning.

Nice size works great.
Would have given 5 stars if the timer was readable. With kitchen lights on its nearly impossible to read or see the timer. Should be much brighter and blue or orange background. Otherwise happy with the fry basket size and overall heating performance. Also heat dial should not go out of range of temperature numbers displayed?!?
