It's a Freud!
I've been a Diablo/Freud fan since my first Diablo saw blade. I was almost about to quit woodworking because my cuts on my table saw were terrible, had a Skil saw with Skil blades. It did the job but tearout was terrible. Tried to upgrade amount of teeth, got an Irwin blade, the blade itself developed Nasty Burn marks and left Burn marks on every cut. At this point I almost gave up. Then I opted to pay a bit more and try the powder coated Diablo blades. Every single cut was professional quality! I vowed to never buy any other brand other than Freud/Diablo! Everything from saw blades to even sandpaper never let me down! I just really really wish they made carbide band saw blades!!!! Seriously, the day you try it you will never go back. With this router bit, there is absolutely NO TEAR OUT NO MATTER HOW FAST YOU GO. Which you shouldn't rush a router bit cut but even if you for some reason do, you will be surprised! I was a little skeptical because of the angle, maybe it didn't cut 1/2" all the through the groove it it does! That slight angle cleanly slices through Walnut like its poplar! The shavings look like planer shavings! This thing is a monster!!! The pictures are after I cut (8) 16" x 1/2 deep grooves on walnut and not a carbide chip or paint chipping in sight! If you get the chance to get a Freud product, you'll never settle for less. The brown stuff is the walnut dust.

decent for planing slabs
good cost effective way to flatten wood slabs. Only drop about 1/16 at a time to the side of the project and only cut about 1/3-1/2 the size of the bit. Do not plunge into the project always start to the side. I've used on many different woods (oak, maple, pear, mulberry, walnut, cherry) and also finished pieces with epoxy with no problems. Leaves a nice flat surface easy to sand smooth.

Good bit, but not known for sheerness, thickness and warmth
Wired that I would be prompted to use sheerness thickness and warmth in a router bit review, but here goes... I gave it one star for sheerness because it's completely opaque( it's a router bit). Regarding the thickness, I gave it 3 stars since it seems appropriately thick for a router bit. Gave three stars for warmth due to the fact that it's a metal bit it takes on the temperature around it when not in use. It's a good router bit but, I would look elsewhere for sheerness thickness and warmth.

Smooth finish on hardwoods
Bought this to flatten cutting boards after glue ups. In short, it works great leaving a very smooth surface. I was a little concerned with the 1/4” shank vs 1/2” but my router only accepts 1/4”. Holding up fine so far.

Using this router bit as a planner
That's a great tool! I'm using it as a planner and works fantastic. Even to level boards of hard maple, allowed me to do it! Highly recommended.

Worked like a charm on my router sled!
30 bucks (ish) for the bit, and another 70 bucks (ish) for lumber and MDF for my router sled (boy, lumber has gotten expensive lately), and I managed to come up with a perfectly flat 24”x72” maple table top. Bit worked out quite well. 1/2” shank seemed to be the way to go, and a slower RPM prevented burn in the maple. Still needed a good sanding to remove the tool marks, but it came out perfect! Took about half an hour per side; recommend some good hearing protection and a broom for huge pile of shavings.

Bit is sharp, bearing is flush, packaging is dangerous
The bit comes razor sharp. The housing to take the bit out of was very tight. The housing was tighter than usual. Be careful attempting to open the bit. It is important to peel all of the label from around the seal, and pull gently. Your hand can slip on the bit because it is tight. In use the bit cuts wonderfully. The cuts I was making was in softwood, and 3/4" plywood. The passes I made were normally 3/16" or so deep. The reason the bit lost one star was the angle of the cutting faces is difficult to keep flat when measuring the depth with a sliding rule. Be mindful the the middle of the bit is not where you need to measure on this dado bit, in order to accurately measure the depth of cut via the protrusion from the router base bottom. I have only had the bit for a few weeks but so far I've used it to build a large router sled for slab flattening, a dadoing jig for plywood dados that aren't exactly 3/4" in width, and flushing some tenon protrusions. The bit cuts shavings off and not just dust, it is good and sharp, so far the bearing has been smooth riding and accurately machined.

Works great
This is pretty much the widest router bit on the market with a 1/4" shank. I'm using it in my router with a sled to level uneven boards and it works great. Wide bit means the job gets done quicker with fewer passes. Well balanced - no vibration. Cuts well. I'm very happy with it.

Great surfacing/flattening bit
Used this to flatten the top of a huge solid maple desk using my little 1/4 trim router and a sled. The bit cut great even in really hard maple.
