Only one in this price range.
If you want an affordable pickleball practice machine, this is your only choice. The machine has a bit of choice for speed, spin, and loft; but you have to be patient with the non-adjustable feed rate of about 1 ball every 8 seconds. The battery compartment is a bit of a pain, requiring a screwdriver to open, but you get at least a week of daily use out of a set of batteries (4 D cells). This machine is good for practicing returns or 3rd shots, but it won't make you a pro.

Good practice tool
This tool is simple to assemble and it does a decent job serving balls at three different height settings. One limitation of this unit is the lack of ball speed and interval adjustments. For this price, it is acceptable. Unless you have a partner who is willing and ready to drill with you, this is the second best thing you can find to improve your game.

Three minutes, brand new duracel batteries and less than 30 balls
I don't own a battery company but if I did, this would be a great product for me. My courts don't have electricity and my garage is too small to use this inside with the power cord. It's easy to assemble but do not pick it up by the ball basket/filler/launcher, it will come apart because the "line up squares" don't lock in. My two cents Franklin needs to add some lock in tabs, design the battery refill on the side to slide the batteries into a space not have to flip the machine upside down, look for a screw driver, then add batteries. Oh yes I had to stop, take the balls not launched out, then do the batteries again. I'm not lazy, just don't like wasting my time because of poor design.

Weak performer!
The media could not be loaded. The only positive thing I can say about this is it went together pretty easily, and it’s lightweight. However, it is light weight at the expense of being a flimsy POS. You can’t pick it up by the spiral sections as they will come apart. They do not lock in place, they are a press-fit to lose to maintain structural integrity. Will not launch the last two balls, it requires more weight, that is more balls in the spiral loader to push the balls into contact with the launch wheels. So, only 13 out of 15 possible balls loaded will launch. More importantly, I think it is a wimpy performer. Set up where a server would be, it makes it to just a foot or so beyond the non-volley line on the opposite side of the net therefore, it cannot simulate a serve to the middle North, to the far end of the receiving court. My measurement was maximum of 29 feet with 15 tries, most a foot shorter. This is having experimented with the adjustments to get the longest launch, by having it set at a 45° launch angle. Curiously, after a brief explanation on how to assemble the unit, the instructions give you some of the rudiments of how to play pickle ball, yet there is, I kid you not, absolutely nothing about how to actually use this device! I called Franklin customer service; the representative had no clue about its specs as far as potential distance, if you could set it up to put a spin on the server, and why it won’t deliver/serve the last two balls of the 15 it holds. So amazing, and disappointing! So she took my email, at my insistence, and said she would send back info from a tech.

Surprised by how good this thing is! A well-designed piece of training kit for singles or doubles.
Just started to get into the whole Pickleball craze this year. Unfortunately struggled to find an opponent to play or practice with at times. When I saw this ball launcher, it looked perfect for my needs. Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised by how well-made this product was, especially considering that this launcher enclosure is pretty much made out of 100% plastic. The design and construction is tough and robust, but still lightweight, so it’s great to travel with. It was a bit confusing at first when trying to assemble the launcher together as the pieces were basically the same, but once I figured it out, I just love the simplicity of the product even more. Really well-designed and engineered. The assembly is completely tool-less and hardware-less! The pieces just snaps and clicks together, but still feels very secured. A clever piece of design to keep costs down! As a product designer for 20 years, I was taking notes, ha! Quite impressive! The operation was super simple. It’s basic and doesn’t have a ton of controls, but for what it does, it just works! I noticed that even set to low speed, the balls did shoot out pretty fast, so beware if you are a total beginner. This launcher will test your skills. I also liked how you can tilt the launch angle by simply pulling the spring clips and selecting the appropriate notches for your angle of choice. I said it was basic and this feature is definitely basic, but it works. There are only 3 notches / angles to choose from. Limited, but it’s fine. I didn’t test the battery power function as it takes 4 giant D cells. Not even sure if anyone keeps D cells in their drawers these days, or that could be just me though! I used the included adapter and it works great. No issues, but of course you have to be near the wall outlet. I’m sure the batteries would work fine, but not sure how long it would last though. One wish list feature I would love to see, and that’s an ability to fold up, or quickly break apart to a more compact form factor for carrying and travels. Not a big deal, as I think this launcher is pretty lightweight overall. Funny thing is, every time I pick it up, I just couldn’t help but think how robust this thing feels even if it doesn’t weigh that much. It is a tad big for frequent carrying, but luckily it’s light for its size. So should you get one? Well, if you need someone to practice with, this launcher is absolutely fantastic. It’s super well-made and robust. Works great and super fun to play with. At this price point, it’s shocking to think why tennis ball launchers couldn’t be this simple and cheap for the budget friendly beginners. Yes, it’s a simple and basic product, but i don’t need the fancy adjustments and expensive options when starting out to learn. This launcher is a perfect starter training tool.

Fun pickleball partner
Great way to workout when you can't find a buddy. It requires D batteries if you cannot plug it in. I tend to take an extension cord and plug it in to save money on batteries. I also have a rechargeable power bank that allows me to plug in that way if needed. It launches the balls as expected. It holds 15 balls at a time so you will spend time reloading - but an enjoyable way to spend some time outdoors.
