Not Milspec but good for casual outdoor backpackers
For those wanting outdoor life on the cheap, sometimes the most ideal gear is not available to you. This is definitely me as well, so I decided to get a Fox Outdoor 3 Day Combat Pack. Going at about $75, it seemed to be the cheapest, good quality backpack I could get that was not an ALICE pack (which can go for about half that price). It's certainly one of the bigger three day assault packs out there. At 22' x 17' x 11' it's more than capable of carrying supplies that will not only last you three days, but even a week. QUALITY AND DESIGN Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for, and being half the price of bags of its equivalent, sometimes this shows. For example, the stitching and construction quality itself is not top of the line and definitely not Mil-Spec. You have to take good care of it. If you yank on a strap while the bag is fully loaded, you'll damage the stitching that connects it to the bag. This is definitely a handle with care item. The weight distribution of the pack is also less than ideal, so loads feel heavier than they really should. That is probably the biggest weakness of this pack. I've read a lot of reviews going on about the poor quality of the construction. I agree to an extent, but some have claimed that the zippers came right off and the fabric just started ripping to shreds. Either there is a huge quality consistency problem (where I just happened to luck out and get a half decent one) or they're just not taking care of a cheap piece of equipment well enough. Most of these reviewers emphasize that it's made in China, but I'm pretty sure many of their favorite brands and models are as well. HIGH POINTS The good news is that as long as you don't start to exceed 40 lbs this bag seems to do its job quite well. And the two advantages it does have over ALICE packs are the MOLLE loops (for canteens and IFAKs) and large pocket openings for ease of access. VERDICT Although it's not a case of "avoid at all costs" I am somewhat hesitant to recommend it to people because of the number of bad things I've heard about it and because of it's very poor weight distribution. However, I have been able to make it work for me with a little effort and care. Although this is not a pack I'd bring to war, it is something I would bring to a long weekend hike and camp out. I would say that it is inferior to an ALICE pack in most ways except that access to items are much easier with this pack than on most ALICE packs.

Excellent and inexpensive 72-hour bag.
Packed this thing full as a 72-hour bag that comes with me every time I hop in the car. Lots of room and organizational space, and it even has a decent Velcro area for 4 average-sized morale patches. Only real complaints are that the straps are only averagely padded, so you will feel the weight on your shoulders if it's fully loaded, even with the hip straps. Awesome bag though.

Fox 3day pack
I am a software developer and an outdoor enthusiast. So far I love this pack. It is built well and allows my to carry all my computers and peripherals to work everyday unlike before when I would carry two sometimes 3 separate backpacks. Then come the weekends I have taken it hiking and camping. Lots of room and pockets. It does have a slot to run a hydration batter to it and a strap inside the main pouch to help secure it. When the pack is full it seems to stay in place, but there is not a separate compartment dedicated to holding the blater in place. When carrying a sleeping bag or tent I have to strap them on to the packs exterior; however the hip belt and adjustable shoulder straps are easy to setup to distribute the weight. Also the back of the back has very comfortable padding to keep you comfortable and avoid your gear pocking through into your back. For longer and more serious backpacking I still use my internal frame pack, but like it says it is a three day pack not a hardcore backpacking pack. All in all great pack for all types of uses. I don't go anywhere with out it.

Not bad but could be better.
Firstly, I am removing a star for the seller. It shipped fast but took them about 2 weeks just to process the order to ship it. Also, At the time of buying I purchased the black because it was cheaper by about 10 dollars, However they added an extra 10 dollars onto shipping where all the others shipped free. Very dirty tactic. They did not answer my e-mail, Poor seller. The actual bag is fairly decent quality, Not superb but for the price range I would say best bang for your buck. One of the zippers was missing a lanyard. The zippers themselves are about medium grade, should be bigger for this bag but they are not terribly small. The buckles however are very small for key stress area's the smallest buckle is the one going across your chest in a very high stress area. Very poor on that design flaw The actual materials otherwise seem fairly well made. Bought it as a replacement for my current bug out bag because it was too small. This one is bigger, but not by much. You may be better off just getting a very large backpack.

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!
Mandatory Fire Department issue to our Technical Rescue Team Members! Great quality for the price, roomy for all their gear and food- Firefighters like to eat, for some strange reason- loops and shoulder straps are strong as my guys like to pack everything including the kitchen sink! Shoulder straps are comfortable, and do not cut in as cheaper packs do. This pack causes jealousy with our mutual aid partners when they find out the price of these bags! Bottom line: Lower cost for this bag, allows us to pend more funds on rescue equipment and training!

The pack and service were very good. I knew that it was not a premium ...
The product was exactly as stated. My first review went in with a 1 star rating by accident. When I saw it I wanted everyone to know that the product was exactly as I expected. The pack and service were very good. I knew that it was not a premium pack when I ordered it and I have not stress tested it. The zippers and pockets were just what they said and worked fine. I use this pack to keep my camp gear in one place and have used it during several trips. It is easy to use and keeps things organized.

Outstanding!!
I've had the pack a few weeks now and am very satisfied. I switched to this from a traditional alpine pack that was not nearly as versatile. I spend a LOT of time on the trail and in my canoe and I absolutely LOVE the MOLLE system because I can easily customize the pack depending on the day's activities. This back is well built and is just what I needed.
