It works but holds onto smell
We love that this blanket actually keeps the urine from getting any further than the blanket. The blanket works. The downfall is that it seems to hold onto the scent so a couple days after being our ashes, it smells as though there is urine on it again. We can’t quite figure it out. It seems to wash well, warm temp, medium dry (2 dry cycles, rotating the blanket once). So we wash it a couple times a week. Also, it’s heavy. So if you just have a lightweight blanket under, it’s fine but we sleep with a medium weight goosedown and we get roasted with this on top. In the end, it works and we’re grateful to not be washing all of our sheets and blankets 3-4 times a week after our ancient cat accidentally releases. The cons, it’s heavy, it holds onto a smell and we have to wash it often. The Pros, it works. The pros outweigh the cons.

Not for people with very high expectations or very low temperatures
The other reviews are absolutely on the mark when complaining about the lack of heat this blanket generates; it's really a joke, almost not worth the bother of the cord in the way. There's always an extra step when turning it on, because it initially starts on setting #1, and setting #1 doesn't produce any heat discernable by modern scientific measuring equipment, beyond the LED’s blue glow on the controller, so really, turning on the blanket always involves hitting the button on the controller four more times to get to the "highest" setting to really get it “on”. It's probably not Serta's fault (beyond advertising it as a real electric blanket); I imagine a bunch of lawyers and/or politicians have been successful in destroying the idea of an electric blanket, as they've previous done for gas cans, in-car GPSs, seatbelt warming indicators, and so much more (even trying to destroy the idea of hot coffee), though would have been nice if it remembered the last setting (but I’m sure the lawyers had something to say about that too). This is not your momma's electric blanket, it's not the one you remember from your youth. But, it can be a nice blanket with your expectations in line. The blanket itself is comfortable, love the fake white fur, and the right size for throwing over the lower 2/3rds of your body while chilling on the couch. And once fully warm on its highest setting, could probably be compared to the warmth of recently taking it out of the dryer, which does feel very nice. It's just that you'd expect that temperature from the first or second setting, third at worst. If there's a slight chill in the air, this blanket on high can serve you right, but it's truly cold, this electric blanket isn't going to remedy that, much more than a regular non-heating blanket. I don't know where to get a real working electric blanket anymore, though; I see similar complaints in the reviews of other blankets. I'm sure they're out there; just like exempt racing gasoline cans (meant to fill up race cars, are exempt from the stupid rules which intentionally slows the gas, causing it to burp and spill, because they actually have to work).

Disappointing Quality
The blanket itself is standard, even machine washable, but the big issue is with the handheld control unit. Bought the first unit in Dec. 2020, which broke down and stopped working after just 3 months. Bought yet another unit, blanket plus control (couldn’t get just a replacement for the control alone) in Mar. 2023, because I thought the quality would have had improved in more than 3 years. Unfortunately the opposite happened. It broke down after just 1 month! Needless to say how disappointing this is.

So soft and warm!!
I get cold easy and my house is drafty in the winter. I thought that this would be perfect for getting me through the winters. I love this blanket, it is so soft and comfy and warm!! So far I've used it for about 2 months or so and it's still working great, no complaints other than I wish it was longer, and the plug weight tends to keep pulling down on the blanket and has to be pulled back up on the bed. I'm 5' 4 1/2 and it's not quite long enough for me but I still love it and glad I have it. "UPDATE" 2021- This has been my 2nd year using this throw blanket and it still works great, I still love it. Still happy with purchase, keeps me warm and that's what I needed.

Super cuddly and warm
I have used electric blankets since the 60s and in the last years they just don’t get warm enough. Well this one sure does! If you set it to the 5 setting it gets hot. Very nice when your cold and need to be heated up quickly. If you set it to 1 it’s barely noticeable, but very nice if you’re not cold just want to be cozy. The material is so soft. I find myself running my hand over it while I’m reading or watching a movie. Feels great! I’m completely satisfied with this purchase. I would buy one as a gift for a friend or family member that enjoys being cozy and warm.

So cozy!!
This blanket is wonderful. I requested it for Mother’s Day because it’s already getting hot outside which means I’m preparing to be cold inside. I’m one of those crazy people that can’t seem to regulate their body temperature, I’m almost always cold, when the rest of my family is roasting. This cozy blanket is the answer! I love that it warms up quickly, it’s the perfect size for just me, and it’s washable! It’s also really warm without plugging it in. The cream side is as warm and soft as a baby tigers belly, or as I like to imagine it is. Perfecto!
