Nothing Special... But I Didn't Need It To Be
The Backstory: A couple of weeks ago, I started a new position at my company, and knew that I wanted to keep everything organized by having an individual file folder for every new client. I noticed that most of my co-workers had different file organizers to keep current clients at close reach. I'm sure I could have had my company pick up the tab and somehow order through them, but I wanted a large selection to choose from so I opted to spend a few bucks in order to get what I wanted, exactly. The Search: I started off at the store I love to hate... you know the one. You go in wanting to buy 4 items for a total of $25, and leave with.... slightly more in your cart, and a considerably lower bank account. Surprisingly, there were no file organizers to be found. I then went on trusty Amazon, and found this Fellowes organizer towards the beginning of my search. I liked that: 1. There were 8 tiers, yet still looked compact enough not to be a nuisance 2. It looked similar to the organizers many of my coworkers were using 3. It was black. I didn't particularly want uncoated wire/stainless steel coloring. 4. There were detachable rubber grips for the bottom to reduce scratching my desk. The Delivery: Yay, Amazon Prime! Two business days later, it was at my porch. Hoorah. The Usage: I brought it to work the next day, and immediately put the files I needed in it. Again, the 8-tier system is great. I had enough room to put certain folders in certain levels based on priority, subject, etc... and still, everything was visible. The Verdict: Great item. Nothing special, but I wanted efficiency, not flare. The perks: 1. As stated, the 8-tier system is perfect. I think many of the organizers on Amazon are 6-tier. 2. Nothing to assemble, except for the grippers at the bottom. 3. Very compact. 4. Now I look professional. And looks are everything, right?

Very sturdy; easy to throw; great for organizing file folders. Best for high-throughput folder operations.
It does what it's supposed to. I guess I was expecting a more widely spaced tier-age than that which Fellowes has seen fit to provide. That said, it's survived being stepped on, dropped, overfilled, thrown in frustration, thrown for fun after seeing just how well-constructed this sucker is - you know what? "What?", I hear you say. Well, I hear someone saying "What?" It's so well-built I'm giving it an extra star. The lost star is for the lack of any real means of labelling the tiers so that once you've got your cataloging/filing system all prepared, it's still useful the next day when you just need to file something, and not procrastinate so badly. Man, that thing really loves to fly! It even moves through the air like a wire gazelle with 8 tiers to stack your file folders in according to a system of your creation. And if the TTP project (short for the TTP project, hat tip to Dilbert for introducing me to IIIs [infinitely iterating ideas, just as the TTP project is an acronym for the TTP project]) should be going badly, just get an accordion file to serve as a temporary holding place, then -- make sure nothing and/or nobody important is going to be in your flight path -- and let 'er rip! Presumably this is meant for an office or other location with much more turnover in papers than mine. Still, I'd buy it again if it were on sale.

Files fall in center sometimes
It works fine and looks nice, but if you don’t put the file in just right, one side will slip down in the middle.

I really like that the divider wires go up almost to the ...
This was the only sorter that I found that was reasonably priced that had 8 slots. I really like that the divider wires go up almost to the top of the folders, that way when I need to slip a single piece of paper behind the wire and in front of the folder, the paper doesn't curl over. The slots are a good width, each slot holds 3 of my folders that are pretty stuffed. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because of the two back legs. When I push the sorter all the way to my cubby wall, the back legs slip off the back edge of my desk. The cubby wall does stop it from falling so it's really not a big deal. If the legs were situated an inch or so from the back or even angled forward. That would solve the problem. Overall, I really like this sorter. I purchased 5 of these file organizers for my boss and he absolutely relies on this tool to keep him organized throughout the day.

Helpful
was having issues with my files folding over the tops of the holders. This one leans them back so not only do they not bend, but you can see the names of the files without having to rifle through. Much better than any of the others I've tried and I highly recommend. Negatives are that it doesn't have a solid base so you have to be careful not to push it near the edge of the desk, and you have to be careful when you put the folders in that they don't fall through. Also, you can't fit more than one folder (and definitely not really full folders) in the slots and it doesn't hold smaller papers you don't want to put in a file yet.

I like how the folders are held at easy-to-read angle.
It doesn't take up too much room on my desk and holds my "have to get it done this week" items front and center. Otherwise, there's quagmire of folders burying each other as I multi-task through the day. For longer term storage you'll want something sturdier, as when you bump it the files can fall into the middle. And it's very lightweight, so easy to push off the surface altogether! However, I placed it against a wall and it's helpful to me. I like the angle of the wires, it's very easy to read the folders this way.

Surprisingly disappointing.
Two of the four Rubber end caps for the legs broke while being installed. They are made of really brittle plastic. Had to use tape so the sharp plastic legs don't scratch my table. If they are going to make them so cheap they should provide extras! Unpackaging it was also a surprising disappointment. The whole thing was wrapped inside and out with double sided tape. Never thought something so simple would be a disappointment.

Great for the desk top for regularly used files
I like the compact size and and the small amount it takes up on my desk , and close enough to reach so I do not need to access my file drawer each time i used regular files day to day.

Great product, slow shipping
Very stable and perfect for a small desk. However it took over 3 weeks to ship to Canada from New Jersey.
