It works

Ordered the 10-32 set to repair a carburetor screw hole that had been stripped. Worked well on the aluminum body of the carb. It comes with good basic instructions if you have never used a helical insert. The only thing you'll need besides this kit are a drill, tap handle, and a tiny allen key to set the depth collar on the helical insert tool. Good set for the money.

It works

I used the kit to repair a stripped out thread on aluminum block. I was able to salvage the situation and assemble what I was working on.

Cheap product

Tap snapped off in the piece with little effort. Helicoils wouldn't insert properly. Once I got it seated (on the 5th attempt), the threading wasn't proper. I tried sending a different tap in to see if the threads were just off and sure enough nothing was right. All in all, a part I spent 12hours on is now scrapped because of this cheap set

INSERT KIT TIP

This is a good Set. The bit size is on the package. Some CTA kits show the tap as 2 taps in 1 but it IS a regular tap only. Start with a bit just smaller than the hole and work up to the bit indicated.

Will bind screw and destroy the hole

Using coils like these generally work great. Unfortunately, the 10-32 size does not work and will bind up your new screw and you run the risk of further damage to the part you are trying to fix. I contacted E-Z Lok about this and they were quick to respond and send me a new kit. Unfortunately, the new kit and several other sample lots directly from E-Z Lok did not work any better. I ended up buying a kit by Fix-A-Thred that worked perfectly. You can find these at most auto parts stores.

STI tap was not 32 TPI, but EZ-LOK replaced it

Like another reviewer, I found that the STI tap provided in the kit produced threads that caused a 10-32 screw to bind. I checked and found that it didn't have 32 Threads per Inch. I couldn't figure out the pitch. But, I contacted the EZ-Lok customer service from their website. They apologized for the problem and sent me a replacement tap that was 32 TPI. It worked properly. It was a different brand of tap, so maybe all of their 10-32 kits have the wrong tap. Moral of the story with any of these kits: check the tap pitch against the screw before using it. And, test it on some scrap first. Otherwise, E-Z Lok is a reputable company.
