Great product if looking to fix a thread problem as stated above BUT it's because it makes a stronger material to grip into when dealing with cast aluminum. Wish the package would have been able to send with the tag punch and the cost for this tool is a bit hight for no more than what it is really BUT when you need a quick fix this is perfect and worth every penny

Got me out of a jam

A prior owner had put too many uggas to dugga. I had to repair the threads or have a bike that won't go. Worth every penny and easy to use.

Wasting resources and polluting Earth to make such products should be a crime.

The tap arrived broken. One side of it was separated so that only two of the three edges remained. So I bought a decent one to tap the hole and then used the installation tool from this kit to finish the job. The tang break-off notch on the end of the tool broke during installation. When I cheap out on a tool, I expect to get cheap quality, but it should be a crime to waste natural resources and pollute the Earth to manufacture this kind of thing. It's completely useless. Do yourself a favor and find decent tools. This kit is WAY overpriced. DON'T BUY IT.

Crank life expander

Gave my crank more life to fix unthreaded crank hole. Now it works once again. Works great!

They do the job; plan on breaking a few

I used this product to re-thread a circa-1995 plastic electrical box, after a screw broke during extraction and ultimately had to be drilled out. I was successful, but these #6-32 are of necessity so delicate that I broke the installation tab on two of them during installation; the third one worked. I'd prefer the kit to use a common fractional drill bit instead of a numbered machinist's bit. Other than that, it's a solid fix, probably stronger than new, and I didn't have to tear the wall apart.

Make sure you know which way your threads have to go before purchasing

A pedal on my exercise bike list it threads on the inside after I had knee surgery and was using it pedaling backwards on it. Bought this to rethread the inside. It happened to work for me but make sure you need forward threads and not backwards

Good Product but Listing Omits Essential Data Regarding an Additional Drill Bit

This kit enabled me to repair the threads of my 3/16 - 20 tripod head mounting hole. What the product details info does not say is that to carry out this repair you need a 25/64" drill bit. I got this kit in a day or two, but then it took another 3-4 days to get the drill bit after I read the directions. The size of the drill bit required probably varies for the different kits, but it would be a convenience for a potential customer if the vendor included that important information in the product details. Had that info been included, I would have given it the 5-star rating it deserves.

Decent but won't last

Taps aren't as durable as named brands, will do 2 or 3 rethreads before the edges go dull.
