holds everything I need to carry
I needed a new lunch box and I bought this one. I am generally pretty happy with it. I should say right now, I don't think this would fit the large (entree-sized?) square Rubbermaid storage containers with the red lids. But there are a couple of sizes of Pyrex glass containers that definitely do fit in here, so it is still possible to bring something you want to reheat. (Anyway, I prefer heating food in glass instead of plastic, as stuff isn't going to leach out of glass.) At any rate, I am able to fit everything I typically bring for lunch into this and to zip it completely afterwards. If I am bringing a tortilla to make a wrap, I can't put it in here frozen but have to wait until it thaws a bit so I can bend it. (I don't attempt to carry a water bottle. My office provides numerous free beverages. But one would not fit in the side pockets, they're too small for that. You could fit a pack of gum or something in there.) The zipper works pretty well on the main compartment. I don't use the front compartment. I usually bring a steak knife to cut my fruit (apples, pears, peaches, plums, that sort of thing) and I want it to be fully surrounded, so I put those in the main compartment. So far I have been lucky (been using this for at least two weeks) and the steak knife has not damaged the lining of the lunch box. This has one adjustable shoulder strap. That is sufficient for my purposes. The inside lining is easy to wipe down with a wet paper towel; that is sufficient to get sticky gunk like pineapple juice off the sides (if my fruit containers leaked, for example). That seems to be all I need to do to keep this clean. This easily fits into my refrigerator as well as the refrigerator at work so I don't bother with an ice pack. I do have a rather large Coleman ice pack that fits in here with some room to spare. I recently took this to the vet to pick up some chlorambucil for my cat who has inflammatory bowel disease; this medication has to be refrigerated, but I had to go somewhere after picking up the medicine, and the ice pack in this lunch box kept the medication acceptably cold for a few hours. Overall, this is definitely sufficient for my needs. Also it is red, which of course makes me like it a whole bunch more. (This review is for the individual red lunch box.)

Lasted for years, finally buying another.
I decided to write a review for this, because the one I initially bought finally died. I bought it back in 2013! I'm getting a new one today. Before this, we were using the cheapy character ones for my son, with the white lining inside. I had to keep replacing them, because the lining would crack and tear, and the insulation would be exposed. The insulation would quickly get stained and yellow, and there was no way to clean it at that point. Picked out this one, and it's been great! It lasted 4 years for us, and it was really used a lot. My son used it at school from ages 6-10, several times a week... it's been shoved into book bags, dragged on the ground, and spilled in lots. I've put it in the washer tons of times and it held up. There was very slight pilling on the top flap, but nothing really noticeable, and nothing that made the bag unusable. The only reason I finally had to replace it was because one of the zipper handles broke. It was still okay to use temporarily because there's 2, but I wanted to get a new one in case the other one broke too, which would leave us no way to close it. I was surprised with how clean I was able to keep this bag. I was fully expecting to replace it sooner, not because anything had broken, but because it was getting dingy and gross. It never got gross! For every day freshening up, I would wipe it down inside with a disinfectant wipe, and leave it open to dry. For bigger messes, I threw it right into the washing machine with other laundry, and hung it up to air dry. The color wasn't as bright anymore, but had that zipper not finally broken, we'd still be using this. The size of this bag is great, too. My son is not just a "sandwich and crackers" kind of kid, he likes a variety of foods. Which means I needed to fit a variety of containers and sometimes up to 2 ice packs in there. For all the years we've had this, I can't remember a time where I was not able to fit everything. I'm replacing ours after 4 years, but I'm sure this will last a lot longer for others. As I said, our bag really took a beating, and I'm pleased I got this many years out of it. I'm reordering it right now, I have no need to look for a different brand.

My older two don't have any problems and say it's the best one they have had so far
I ordered these for all 4 of my kids for school this year. It took some searching to find a lunch box that would be big enough to actually hold their lunches. Especially when I include a thermos for warm or cold items. So here is the run down compared to the standard upright character lunch sacks: 1: Size - this lunch box is large enough to put a small thermos and a sandwich container side by side with room to spare. It is also deep enough that I can layer what I pack so chips and cookies don't get smashed by heavier items. Unfortunately it's big and bulky. My Kindergartener needs help carrying it and his backpack and my first grader handles it but just barely. My older two don't have any problems and say it's the best one they have had so far. 2: Color - as far as color choices I was disappointed that there were very many choices. It would have been nice to have at least one girlie color such as pink or purple so all my kids could pick a different color that they liked. 3. Zippers - Having 4 of these over the last month has proven that you have to be watchful of the front pouch zipper. I have one bag whose front pouch zipper gets stuck and the teeth don't catch so we can't use it anymore. 1 out of 4 might suggest that one bag just had a defect of some kind, but it loses a star for that. Overall we are happy with our purchase for the year and I would recommend them if you need something large enough to hold a decent lunch for about 2nd graders on up.

Great for a camera bag also
Nice bag, seems plenty good enough for my needs, I got it to carry my camera and some related things, it holds my Nikon b500 perfect with plenty of room for spare batteries etc, water bottle no problem, I would only criticize the strap it's permanently stitched to the bag on one side so you can't replace it with a different one if you wanted to. Otherwise its great for a camera bag so people dont know you have anything expensive inside

Low quality
I ordered this bag as the one I bought my husband a year or so ago seemed to last well and had the large inside. I immediately noticed upon opening the bag that the insulation material in side was like a cheap plastic and when i opened the bag completely to smooth out the interior I found a large tear in the lining. This is definitely NOT the same quality lunch bag I ordered before. hugely disappointed. Will duct tape the rip as sending back is always a hassle.
