Good deal.

Not much to complain about at only 5 bucks including 2 batteries.When I opened the light to put the batteries in it fell apart.The lens was not connected properly nor the inside plate to the round head of the light.When I reassembled it something wasn't aligned correctly.As such the light didn't work.When I started twisting the cap off to see what was wrong the bulb lit up.That was at about 3/4 of a turn off.Turns out the little nibs weren't seated properly.I just pressed them down into place and screwed it back together.Works fine now.

Good price, durable

Good flashlights to always keep on hand. May not be the brightest light but they are very affordable and you can keep them in different parts of your house in the event of blackouts. The last ones I replaced lasted several years. Easy to handle, not heavy. Good price, good light. Better than purchasing the batteries alone.

Only comes with 2 “D” batteries when 4 are needed

Replaced all lanterns in prep for Hurricane season. Disappointed that product only came with 2 D batteries when you need 4 per unit. Packaging makes no sense.

THE RUNDOWN: Overall, I'd give it a solid B to A- for its stamina combined with its other pluses...

Seems like a decent flashlight so far, especially considering the 2 included (although cheap/underweight) batteries and its price! Here are its pluses in more detail: It casts a moderately bright, focused beam accompanied by a decent amount of flood/flare; runs equally bright with 2 or 4 batteries inside, with zero rattling either way; is surprisingly comfortable and lightweight, even with 4 Ds installed; is highly energy efficient and very high capacity which means extreme stamina/runtime (up to 16.7 days or over 2 full weeks of continuous operation if the 400 hr claim is correct! Which is its greatest strength and only real special or outstanding feature in my opinion, but a totally useful and remarkable one so long as it's bright enough for your liking/needs); has a vibrant, classic look/design with a modern LED touch... and it floats, even with 4 Ds! Although it does take in water at the lid/threads (which is a bit deceptive) especially if it doesn't remain lens upward, like when I was rolling and flipping it around in the water. Stupid me! LOL. Luckily I emptied and dried it out right away and it still works. The only real problem I've noticed is it barely shines using my "8000 mAh" D cell rechargeables that all my other flashlights and lanterns thrive with, which is a huge and somewhat mysterious disappointment. Must be the slightly lower voltage of the rechargeables (1.2 vs 1.5). But it works well with alkalines, as I discovered just before I was about to throw it in the trash. I'm sure glad I decided to unwrap the 2 included batteries and try them just to check! Using alkalines it appears to be substantially brighter than the claimed or advertised "80 lumens" of brightness... It's obviously brighter than my "80 lumen" Duracell flashlight... But what's stronger evidence of it being brighter than 80 is the Eveready's beam wasn't too easily drowned out when shining on the wall next to (and almost totally into) the beam of my excellent "625 lumen" 3 D Maglite (ML300L) on maximum power and focus. Although the Eveready's beam is slightly yellow, unlike the other two, which helped it stand out a tad. But all in all I'd say good job, Eveready/Energizer! I'd definitely keep this one coming if I were you, as well as some improvements to the design. But so far, your floating LED lantern (or "BIG Bu0Y flashlight" as I'd call it) looks like a good product/deal for the price, and one worthy of the ole Eveready name. Of course, only time and usage will tell, but it might just be the Eveready bunnie of flashlights! ^_^ (Yep, the Energizer bunny's cheap twin. LOL) And overall, I'd give it a solid B to A- for its stamina combined with its other pluses, and/or for its type. PS: Looks like I'll be buying it a FRESH pack of either Energizer, Duracell or Rayovac alkalines (to be kept at its side) from a local store. ;)

Lightweight, good beam, sits steady

Unlike some of the reviews, I can verify the lantern does indeed work with just the two D batteries that are included. There are two columns for batteries, and you need to put both batteries in one slot, leaving the other empty. It's a little hard to get the head screwed on straight, but once you do, the head makes contact with the batteries and it will come on when you press the switch. I imagine that using all four batteries produces a brighter, bigger beam but I have not tested this yet. The beam is bright enough for me to read by it with my diminished eyesight. For the price, it's a good deal. I may get a second one. I'm betting the people who said it didn't work with two batteries tried putting one in each column,. That won't result in a contact with the head.

It adequate

This came with 2 batteries; however, it does need 4. Once we put in 4 D batteries, we expected it to be super bright, but it was very minimal. I mean, it works, but not quite what we expected.
