Slow to record temperature

I thought having a thermometer that sat on the surface of my griddle would be the way to go. I did not realize that griddle cooking is all about heat zones which means moving the thermometer from section to section to get a reading of the surface temperature. That's not the problem. The problem is that this thermometer takes ages to get a reading when you move it to a new section. Griddle cooking moves at light speed and by the time you get a reading and adjust the gas it's too late. I switched to one of the handheld instant readers. Nothing wrong with this product just not good for what I needed it for.

large easy to read great on flat top grill or any flat top heated surface, will work in oven also.

Worked Great Until the Fog Started

We use this on our blackstone griddle and I loved the size. It’s large, easy to read, and the “sear” and “grill” wording is very helpful. Keeping it clean should of been a breeze but some moisture got into it early on and then it was no good. Bring on the fog and even outright water bubbling. I don’t think it’s sealed tight enough as we didn’t submerge it in water but I’m going to give it another buy before saying it’s a poor product.

Griddle puck...

Perfect for getting quick temp readings of your griddle top or to just keep a constant monitor around something you don't want to burn. I like how it just shuttles around the griddle and I don't have to worry about it tipping over. Highly recommended...

Thermometer

It was doing great on my griddle top but was foggy with oil on the glass but it’s somehow on the inside of the glass. I’d give it back if I could.

Very slow to heat and cool, red paint burns off.

This thermometer does read the temperature directly on the grill surface, but it appears to react very slowly to changes in temperature. The entire body of the thermometer has to heat or cool for changes to register on the dial, and that takes time. How much time? If I move it from the hot side to the cool (shut off) side of my gas grill it will take 10 minutes for the new, cooler temperature reading to stabilize. The delay factor means you don't really know what's going on in your grill if you change the size of the flame. Also, half of the numbers on the dial were painted in bright red, which faded to a very dull gold color after a few uses, making them hard to read. The black numbers are still fine.

Works but gets a foggy look

The thermometer works fine but its top cover is foggy and hard to clean. I used a wet cloth (no running water) to clean the item but the top is foggy.
