Just buy them
Short version: I bought these and returned them because they didn't fit my seat position 100%, but I ended up ordering them a second time because they're really the best option I could find. I'm happy I ordered them again, they are much better than the other solutions I tried. UPDATED REVIEW: I ordered two more of these to see if I could make them fit in my car, after they did not fit the first time. I spent months looking for a backseat extender, ideally with storage, for my car/dogs before the first time I ordered these and I was so disappointed when they didn't fit and I had to return them. After I returned these the first time, I tried using plastic storage bins in my car that I got at the hardware store, but not only were they ugly, they were so hard and slippery that my dogs didn't even lay on them anyway, so they only served half the purpose. So I kept looking and I couldn't find anything that was comparable to these, so I finally decided to try them a second time and see if I could find a compromise with my seat position. I am so happy I bought these again and even though I spent time and money trying other options, testing other storage options in my car made me realize how much better these back seat storage bins are. First of all, they look way better than anything else I could find. My car's interior is tan and the black leather on these storage bins still looks okay even though the color doesn't match my car. You can also fit a lot in them, enough to actually help you out if you get stuck somewhere. The storage bin behind my passenger seat fits 16 regular plastic water bottles (16.9 fluid ounces each), a handful of hydration powder (like powdered Gatorade), a can opener, an 8 oz container of protein powder, and a gallon Ziploc bag full of granola bars, peanut butter crackers, and trail mix, with extra space on top to lay things flat. The been behind my passenger seat fits an extra pair of women's size 7 hiking boots, 14 US dry cups of dog food (in travel containers), a stainless steel dog water bowl, two small doggy bag holders, and a thin knee length puffer coat. It sounds random but if my car ever got stuck somewhere, I would have food and water for myself and my dogs, plus a jacket and an extra pair of shoes, which could make a big difference. And the best part is that I can access all of that from the driver's seat, without having to get out and go to the trunk. Not only does the leather style look better but whatever you put in a storage bins will not be exposed to the sun, which helps if you are the type to carry extra dog food or spare water bottles in your car. It also means that people cannot look in the windows and see what is in your storage bins. Plus, the leather is much softer than a plastic bin and it's better for my dogs. When I was using the plastic bins, I had to search for dog beds that I could put over the plastic so my dogs could actually use the space, but then when I needed to get to the bins, I had to pick up the dog bed before I could get into the bin; with these, I can just lift up the lid without having to move anything or add extra layers to make my dogs more comfortable. Yes, these are kind of expensive at about $50 a piece but the closest alternative I could find is actually twice that much. They are more expensive than buying clear plastic storage bins at a hardware store like I did, but they look a lot better. Orvis has a foam back seat extender for about $80 but it has no storage; if you want these storage option, the orvis version is $100 a piece. So even though I spent more money than using plain plastic bins, this is a reasonably priced item compared to similar options. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Unfortunately, I could not keep these, as they did not fit in my car but they seemed very sturdy. For reference, I have a 2015 BMW X3 and I leave my front seats somewhat far back, enough to comfortably fit someone who is 6 ft tall in the driver's seat. These absolutely would have fit if I moved my seats forward a little or if I had a larger vehicle.

Sturdy and perfect fit in ford fusion
Great purchase!! A little pricey for essentially a storage box - yes. But, the fact that these are sized in a unique way to fit the back seat of a car makes them worth every penny. These fit the back seat of my Ford Fusion perfectly!! I didnt have to adjust my seat, and the lids are able to close completely. I have a ton of supplies for 2 very spoiled 100+ lb dogs, and these are so roomy that I found myself just looking for extra things to fill them. Very happy I finally just made my mind up to order them.

Nice product
Would have liked to have gotten to use this to see how it actually done in my vehicle, unfortunately it was quite a bit too large to fit in my vehicle. Seemed like it would do okay, it folds out with a bottom felt panel to hold into place much like the storage boxes that go in a shelf. The sides and top were very sturdy was just curious about that bottom piece staying in place. Unfortunately I was not able to use and returned it.

Great idea, problem fitting
I’ve wanted something to fill the space in front of the seat for my big boxer dog. Bonus if it could store leashes and misc. I have a Lincoln town car and I had to move the front seat up as far as it would go in order to squeeze the box in. I tried putting it in the front but the dash slanted wrong and it was also too wide for that. I’m keeping it because I take my dog more often than a person passenger and the box is nice to store dog stuff in. I would be happier if it had fit better though.

Slightly too big, if the person is taller in the front seat.
I bought 2 of these for my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, Ultimate Limited. I sent one back because It does not work well of the seat in front is back at all. It's great for my side, as I am only about 5'3" and do not need much leg room. I bought a cushion type extender for my husbands side. I really liked that you can store thing in it, and that it folds down and can be store easily.

Love this product! (various, complementary products reviewed here as well!)
I bought this extender for a long road trip I was taking with my senior, 45 lb pittie mix dog. She's a very anxious girl and I wanted to make her as comfortable as possible. I have a BMW X6 and this fit snugly on the floor of the front seat (I had to push the seat back and had to take out the items in the side pockets to shut the door but it did fit.) It also fit perfectly in the back seat for our return trip. Here's what I did and used for our trip: I set this extender up on the front seat floor. I covered my car seat first with thisBarksBar Pet Front Seat Cover for Cars - Black, WaterProof & Nonslip Backing and then, I put her dog bed over it. Here is memory foam dog bed I useBRINDLE Soft Memory Foam Dog Bed with Removable Washable Cover - 34in x 22in - Stone This gave her a full bed to lay down and fully turn around. I also secured her with a Valstar seatbelt to keep her safe and in her spot.Vastar 2 Packs Adjustable Pet Dog Cat Car Seat Belt Safety Leads Vehicle Seatbelt Harness, Made from Nylon Fabric About 2 hours before we left, I gave her 2 of these to calm herCalm Treats, Safe, All Natural Calming for Dogs, Dog Anxiety Supplement, Helps With Separation Anxiety, Motion Sickness, Storms, Fireworks. Used the same methods as above but covered my backseat first in this.BarksBar Original Pet Seat Cover for Cars - Black, WaterProof & Hammock Convertible (Standard, Black) I also got these stacking travel bowls which were amazing. I could store water and pre-measured meals and snacks. She has a metal crate at home so I was a bit afraid of trying a collapsable crate but I got this one and I 100% fully recommend it. Not only it is super simple to set up and break down, it's well made and she loved it!EliteField 3-Door Folding Soft Dog Crate, Indoor & Outdoor Pet Home, Multiple Sizes and Colors Available (36"L x 24"W x 28"H, Black) Some may think that this is all a bit overboard for a dog but it was well worth it. She thoroughly enjoyed her first long road trip and we checked off a few of her bucket list wishes. I will continue to take her on trips now that I know she loves it and I can keep her comfortable! Hope this is helpful for all of you pet lovers out there!

Check width of footwell/floor space in each individual car.
Great product, I love it except that it is just a tiny touch too wide for me and I cannot have my car seat in the correct position (car seat is too close to be able to drive comfortably and I can't push the car seat back to be in a comfortable position AND have the backseat extender in place. I'm working around it though as I love the idea and concept of this and so does my dog.
