False Product Description of the "Mega Ratchet secure-fit features"

Great shell, even though the manufactured date makes it just days from being a year old, but the suspension wasn't what was described. There was no ratchet feature and no cushioned padding. The suspension was a cheaper manual adjustable sliding belt system where the hat has to be removed to be adjusted for fit. I bought the "Replacement 6 Pt. Mega Ratchet Suspension for Omega II Hard Hats Brand: ERB" for $14.95 plus tax. far more comfortable and convenient to adjust (and what was in the product's description). I'll just keep the cheap suspension as an emergency replacement. [Product description Color:Glow in the Dark ... Suspension 6 pt. Ratchet, ... From the Manufacturer The Omega II features a full 6-point woven nylon suspension and accommodated a chin strap as well. The suspension has retaining slots of your goggles and this hat features a moisture wicking brow pad that is removable, washable and replaceable. This helmet is configured to glow in the dark after being exposed to light and is well suited for around the clock use. The Mega Ratchet secure-fit features an easy turn knob that allows size adjustment without removing the helmet. Each turn of the ratchet knob automatically lock with 50 meshing teeth securing the position. The no-slip hold maintains the desired fit even in the most physically active jobs or extreme weather conditions. WOW I mean WOW

I am so very pleased with this Hard Hat. I am very fond of glow in the dark items and to find a Hard hat that I can wear that glows made my day. I am very surprised at how much light this hat actually gives off. I have had to place it in the closet in my bedroom since it lights the room after a short time turning on my bedroom light (full spectrum). The fit and comfortable adjustments work great. I could not find anywhere on the hat that said it could be worn either direction but I use the flat side for my head lamp. Top Notch worth the money. The glow you see on white is not as bright as it is in real life. update since I have owned this and it sits in my bedroom at night I have to cover it so it won't keep me up its so bright at night and for a long time. Great hard hat!!!!!!

Jacked in less than 8hrs

I ordered this hard hat for myself to replace my old hard hat that is identical but in white that Ive been using for over 5 years. Its out of date so I ordered this one because its the most comfortable hard hat Ive found. It arrived this morning, used it today and got home showed it to my son. Who was getting ready to leave to head to a job site and he jacked my new hard hat before I know it!! So I guess Im ordering myself another one right after I finish this review. The glow in the dark is kinda cool. Its very very bright. If your flash light batteries died you could almost use the hard hat as a lantern lol.

Comfort

The way the tensioner is pinned and drops low on the back of the head allows less tension across the head reducing strain keeping the hard hat on your head easier so you don't get a headache from tightening it up too much when it wants to slip off.

Heavy but comfortable

Seems kind of top-heavy, and I had to tighten up the ratchet to almost head-clamp level before it wouldn't slip around if I turned or tilted my head. Sweatband is pretty meager. But I can wear it continuously for 3 hours while working in 90 degree heat, so it does the job at a reasonable price.

Fat Head Hardhat

This hardhat is large, the other brands that say XL want to grow up to be this one, if you have hard time finding hardhat to fit a large head this one works !!! and meets all the OSHA and ANSI requirements

Very comfortable and functional

For what I need, this fits great, is comfortable and easily adjustable with the little knob in the back. Obviously (and they make it clear) this is not a hard hat if you work heavy construction and a concrete block might fall from three stories up or a steel girder on a crane smacks you hard (I'm not sure even a football helmet would protect you from serious injury if something really massive hits you in the head. But for light duty (trees being pruned, or small rocks might be flying, or the like) I strongly believe this will provide adequate protection.

Just what I was looking for

Nice product as described, very bright and visible from a distance. Fits comfortably on head and does not fall off when looking up, is light weight and the wide brim protects ears from sun burn. I will definitely purchase more in the future and I would recommend anyone looking at this product to not hesitate because of the low price.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE - OLD HATS ON SALE - DON'T USE FOR SAFETY - but a really nice hat otherwise

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE - the hat I got was dated back to 2012 and while for my purposes it's OK (it's going to be a nice hat on my head for Hallowe'en), if you're planning on actually using it as a safety hat, you might want to find a seller selling more recently made hats. That's the reason I had to give it a two-star rating - it's closer to novelty than safety now. Back to the product itself, it's quite nice. In normal daylight, it's closer to a beige or yellowish tinged white. You know how glow in the dark stuff looks in daytime? It's that color. Whether that matters on your jobsite, I can't tell you (but see warning above if you want to use it on the jobsite!). At night, it's got that nice eerie green glow - no arguing about not being seen in the dark here. It's a fairly big hat - it's got a wide brim - not quite as wide as those cowboy hardhats, but it's a fair bit wider than your typical full brim hard hat. While the glow-in-the-dark color probably isn't the best choice to give you shade in the sun, its wide brim will certainly help in the rain, and I'm sure the other colors will be great in the sun at keeping it off your eyes, face, and neck. Other than the old manufacturing issue I mentioned earlier, I really do like it. But I can't recommend a hard hat to someone if it's old. If you can find a more recently manufactured hat, then go for it. But as I bought it from Amazon within the past few days (it just turned September 2015 as I write this), I can't recommend people buying it from Amazon or this seller, at least until they get new stock in. For me, it's not worth the hassle of shipping it back and trying my luck again to get a more recent hat.

Wide rimmed hard hat

The wide Brim hard hat was a great buy .Second day of use. I was walking by a ladder and a box of screws fell off the ladder as I was walking by the wide rim at the back of the hard hat took most of the shock .Great value and well made

the width

i like the extra width around the brim, the ratchet pivets for adjustment behind the head, which makes the helmet stay on better when leaning over. i use it at a concrete plant
