Ordered *Elkay's Dayton stainless steel sink and it arrived on 11/22 but it was 'Not as advertised or described' specific to the stated fact in the third bullet on Amazon's page, "QUIET Sound-deadening material minimizes sound and vibration for a quieter time at the sink". On the first photo of Amazon's page you'll see the photo that shows the off-white textured finish on the front underside; this is what sound textured deadening coating looks like. The Dayton sink I received was strictly stainless steel inside and outside without a bit of coating and it will not be quiet. I've purchased 5 Dayton sinks within the last month or so, and NOT one of them has had the sound-deadening coating as advertised; you might wonder why I've continued ordering this sink. Simply my hope was that maybe one of the retailers would have one of the Dayton sinks that truly had the sound coating… boy was I wrong. I bought Elkay's 'Signature' style name sink 13-years ago and mine actually had the sound deadening coating which was sprayed on the entire underside of the sink and it is quiet. My attached photos show the under-coating of my Signature sink as it was advertised back then, and my photos still match Amazon's photo along with all of the other retailer's websites who are also showing this one picture provided by Elkay for those websites. My Signature sink has the exact same dimensions as the Dayton, measuring 20" wide x 20" deep x 10-1/8" high, I only mention these dimensions because this is how I immediately knew the sound coating was MISSING because I still have one of the Real McCoy's from Elkay. Because I was planning to update my other Larger kitchen sink, I thought it'd be nice to update the Signature sink at the same time since I had also purchased new faucets for each of them. In fact, since I was updating all of my homes' sinks and I had my plumber lined up to have all of them installed before Thanksgiving. But now I am on hold until Elkay can provide the advertised sink. I'll be calling Elkay later, this time I will speak w/a supervisor to address the issues in hopes that the sink won't continue to be sold to unsuspecting customers. I did call Elkay weeks ago and asked the customer service representative (rep) why the Dayton sinks were being sold without the sound deadening coating as advertised as I had already ordered 3 by that time. The rep. said, "You can make arrangements with whomever you buy the sink from and they can apply the under-coating for you", Stunned…I told the rep. this is not true, ridiculous, and impossible…because Elkay; your company is the responsible party for finishing their own product(s) as advertised. I told the rep that bait and switch is apparently still alive and doing well, and I encouraged the rep. to advice her superiors that there is a law in place under The Federal Trade Commission prohibiting these types of practices. Here are just some of other retailers selling this sink: FaucetDirect, Build.com, Home Depot, PlumbersStock.com, Kitchen & Bath, Houzz, jet.com, Amazon, etc, etc, etc! Interestingly enough, *Elkay's website is the only website NOT using their own (one) photo showing the under-coating and yet they've continued distributing this photo along w/all the other written detailed features to all the retailers selling their sink. Oh, and one of the actual retailers I bought the Elkay Dayton sink from, after hearing my complaint regarding the missing coating, did call Elkay and they were told the "NEW Sound Coating is Self-Adhesive Pads" which customers stick-on themselves. Obviously this is not true either, since this information is not written-out in the listed in the bullets, nor is it listed under Product details/ description. And not even one of the sinks I received had any PADS included in the box of the sink(s)… None! Again, 'Nowhere in the bullets or product description are these pads mentioned' and not included in with the boxed sinks I've received. WOW… this has been and is still unbelievable! Hopefully this review will encourage Elkay to do the right thing and coat the sinks as advertised, or significantly Lower the price for the sink if they have no intent of correcting the problem. . . and yes this is a Big problem. Added two paragraphs here on 12/1: When we built this home 13-years ago and included this Signature sink, I knew it would be a perfect complement in the kitchen and with the Viking stovetop-range sitting about 4.5' away from the Elkay Signature sink on the perimeter of the kitchen has turned this space into the best prep area I've ever had. The Elkay 'Signature' sink is a dream and I love, love it, but I'd like to update w/the 'Dayton' soon (that's why I am trying to get Elkay's attention so I can get the Dayton as advertised. I am replacing the my Kohler dual sink w/the new single bowl Kohler and hopefully I'll be able to get the plumber here before Christmas. Any help from Elkay will be greatly appreciated .
