A little disappointed

We got this toaster after I looked at every one available on Amazon. It is good quality as far as materials and construction. It should last a long time. The biggest weak point for longevity may be the digital display but I won't know that until time goes by. The main reason we were replacing our old toaster was because it did not toast English muffins evenly and we would have to partially toast a muffin and then rotate it to finish off the untested part. This toaster was perfect for that initially but after a few weeks it is doing the same as our previous toaster so I have to rotate the muffin to get it all consistency toasted. I really don't need the digital display. And, it is hard to set the temp. The display/time does not react to the control knob changes so you have to fiddle with it while it jumps around. I'm not sure it will give as much time as every one might want for something that needs extra toasting. It goes to 3.5min and you have to put it down again and watch it to get more toasting. It is consistent except for the initial setting. We don't change the setting since we really only do muffins but if you wanted to change it all the time that might be an issue. It may just be the one we got but don't know. I tried using the button to give extra time for frozen items, like frozen waffles. It didn't seem to have any difference so I don't use it. It does pop items up fine (not too high). The clean out drawer for crumbs that fall down works like other toasters. I was disappointed in how hard it was to find a toaster with good ratings. This was the best for a reasonable price. Not totally happy though. I'm not sure why it toasted the whole muffin right originally but it doesn't now. It is still usable but it is an extra hassle.

It's a toaster.

I was not surprised that this toaster made toast, but was surprised after reading many reviews that my toast still tasted like toast and not something great, There nothing really that exceptional about this toaster. The darkness of the toast depends on the setting but it also depends on where you place the bread in the toaster. It can toast a larger slice of bread then most toasters yet still only 2 slices at a time, not 4. It is a nice toaster but nothing great. Is it worth the money? That comes dowmnto what what your money is worth to you. For me the cost is on the high side for what I got.

Liking this toaster!

We've had a slim, 4 slice toaster for such a long time and it's been on it's last legs for quite a while, so we were putting up with the undone/burnt offerings it gave us because we couldn't find a replacement that would fit in our cabinet. This one was finally the correct dimensions so we took a chance on it - glad we did. It toasts our breads, bagels, toaster waffles, etc., perfectly. It's sleek and clean looking and really fit the bill. Happy with this purchase, especially considering that all the other toasters we were looking at cost a lot more and didn't have that many good reviews.

Crumbs

I think the toaster could be better designed to catch and hold crumbs. There is a tray to remove and clean but the design of the bottom of the toaster still allows crumbs to fall out the sides if they dont land directly on top of the tray. That’s my only issue so i find myself just being careful moving it, then turning it upside down to shake the crumbs out. A plus, which I like are the long slots that allow you to put 4 slices in at once or 2 big slices like sourdough or other large slice breads. The external “grate” or whatever it’s called is useful too for toasting flaky delicate stuff like croissants. Overall a good buy. No 5 stars because of crumb issue.

Better than I expected

A few years ago America's Test Kitchen did a test for the best toaster. The one take away was that there is no perfect machine and each has issues. I had this in mind when I decided to get a toaster so I could have my artisan bread, bagels, and English Muffins toasted outside my oven. The toaster is beautiful and the controls are easy to read. I have to admit I was a bit taken aback when I first pulled it out of the box as it is bigger than what I was used to, but considering what I expected to use it for, it makes sense. All my preferred bread products fit without being stuck or squashed or lost in the machine. There is a bit of a learning curve as far as how brown you want certain things. I like that it does not overheat when in use. The addition of cord storage is a plus - so many small appliances do not have that and it is a pain when they are not in use. I got the 4 slice version simply because I figured if I wanted to toast 2 slices of a large loaf I could do it at once. Overall, I recommend this toaster.

Well built

We had this toaster for a couple of months now and it works really well. This is the first toaster that I owned that has a bagel feature. In the bagel mode, only the middle heater is activated so only the middle of the bagel gets toasted. It takes a long time for the bagel to toast in "bagel mode", 5½ minutes on the highest setting which will give you a well toasted bagel. Not burnt, just nicely toasted. If you're in a hurry, you can always toast the bagel without activating the bagel feature, but you'll toast both sides of the bagel. Other than that, it's just a toaster. It does what a toaster is designed to do, make toast. I chose this one after buying one of those $30 toasters and received a very cheaply made unit that I immediately sent back. This one appears to be sturdy. It has a few bells and whistles, a holder to hold croissants above the toaster slots to heat them. I tried that feature once and it burnt the outside of the croissant while not warming the center, so I'll call that a fail. It also has a countdown display to let you know how much time is left before it pops, but I still can't think of why that's a desirable feature.
