Lamp shorted out in less than a year

I did really like this lamp however it had to go in the trash in under a year. Bulb completely shorted out. Not sure if it was electrical or touch base

You Don't Need Dimmable Bulbs!

Absolutely confused as to why people think you need a dimmable bulb for this lamp. Any 40w bulb will work as the lamp will automatically reduce the wattage output depending at what level you set (touch) it at. The lowest setting will put out a warm, soft light at about 10W, second setting another warm soft, light at about 20w, and the brightest setting very bright at 40w. Just make sure to get a candelabra bulb. These bulbs have the correct base size to fit into the lamp, don't worry about the G16.5 measurement. You can pick them up and most major hardware and retail stores. On to the review. Great lamp for the price! Professional design, well crafted, and does not feel/look cheap. The description is slightly misleading when it says you can only change the light level by touching the base. Any part of the arm that holds the lamp will allow you change the settings. You can also change the angle of the lamp all the way from straight down to 90 degrees out, but only in a straight line, no side to side movement.

This lamp is really pretty. I am a huge fan of touch lamps and this one is no exception. It sturdy and well made. I love everything about it except...I would pay double for it if it was twice the size!! It's a good size for a shelf or as an entry into a dark room but not as a bedside lamp unless it's stacked on books or something. But buy it!!! I hope you love it as much as I do! (It has 3 very distinct touch levels, even though you may not be able to tell in the pictures I added of low, med, high. Just be sure to get any type of candelabra bulb. It does NOT have to be the expensive 3-way bulbs. I've had touch lamps all my life and never want to be without one or two of them in my home for the super ease of use. I bought the 2-bulb candelabra pack at Lowe's for $1.98. Gotta' luv it.

Nice quality touch base works well shade not positioned well

Nice quality.... especially the shade plus the metalwork seems quite well done and the base is heavy enough to definitely hold the shade.. You do need to buy a special lightbulb you can find them at Home Depot or about anywhere make sure to get the dimmable type – for those you saying it doesn't work properly because you didn't get the correct bulb. Duh.. The touch base at the moment works well we'll see how it stands the test of time. The only major problem I have is the shade is not positioned the way it is in this product photograph – you cannot bend it straight down...it does bend a bit but the shade is in more of a direction facing you. And it is not a really good look. I'll have to live with that for a while.

Buy a DIMMABLE BULB! You'll Love it

Starting out with the dimmer issue. Silly Amazon is recommending a bulb for this lamp that is not actually dimmable so if you use that one it will only touch on and off not the 3 different light settings. I realized this from looking at the bad reviews people gave not realizing that they were using the wrong bulb and that is why the light would not dim. I went down to the hardware store and bought the following bulb and it works great. . . Required: - G16.5 - Dimmable - Candelabra Base Optional: - LED - Soft white About the lamp - It has a thick marbeled glass shade that looks expensive. I hate plastic shades on a desk lamp. The base and arm are a brushed silver color. The touch low, medium, high, and off function works great. You can swing the head from almost fully downward to almost fully 90 degrees outward.. I love this little lamp on my desk as it gives off the right amount of light throughout the whole day.

Easy and Attractive

We like the two lamps we bought. They are simple, take up very little space on the bedside tables, and they are attractive and easy to use. Unfortunately, they start dim and go bright before shutting off. So my husband has awakened me several times because in order to turn off the lamp, he has to tap it to the high setting before shutting it off. Overall, nice lamps.

Like a number of other buyers

Like a number of other buyers, I love the look and design and craftsmanship of this little lamp. But it did not turn on at all even though I followed directions exactly. I puchased the bulbs that Amazon recommended... I would be happy with on/off rather than 3 levels of light... but I got NUTHIN. I am sending it back and will try one more, Stay tuned for updates. UPDATE: The following week: The new lamp has arrived and so far is PERFECT. Set it up in all of 60 seconds, put in the bulb and instant 3-way touch illumination. Note: Some reviewers have said you need to purchase 3-way bulbs to have this lamp function in 3 modes-- low, medium and high light-- but I did not. I simply used a Phillips 40w candleabra bulb as directed and the 3-way function worked. The lamp looks great next to my bed and I love the convenience of not fumbling for a switch at 3am. I hope this lamp lasts-- but for now, all is well.

The lamp is a wonderful little gem.

I love this lamp, and this is after just a week of having at my bedside, but this lamp is a real gem. It's size, small but not stupid small, let's it fit into spaces, like mine, where your bedside's not huge, nor do you want 'big light', as was my case. A 5 watt LED (40W incandescent) bulb was all I wanted, and I've put in a dimmable bulb which nicely lowers the low end, so that the effects through the robustly thick glass shade's swirling patterns is quite lovely. Now this isn't a $500 lamp, so don't expect it to be one, but for this price range, this lamp is a winner all the way. The nickel finished base is super heavy, way more so than I expected, so the lamp certainly doesn't shift around when you touch it on and off, and the finish is very well done; smooth and absent of any rough edges. The touch switching is consistent over all of the metal surfaces, and is responsive to the lightest contact. A wonderful little gem of a lamp as far a I'm concerned. If I've one complaint it is only in an absent option: I wish they also made this lamp in a Dark Bronze finish! Other than that, I really do not have any complaints. This is a five star product! Shipping was prompt, and packaging, excellent and secure.

Small Quality Touch Lamp

This is a handsome little lamp which provides adequate light at three different levels of brightness. While it does not light up a whole room it is quite suitable as a bedside lamp or directed at a desk. Overall, it has decent heft making it quite solid and unlikely to be easily knocked over, and the opaque glass shade is appropriately strong and fitting to the touch control base design. The lamp may be small but it's certainly not dinky nor is it cheap looking. One should be aware that a standard sized bulb will not fit this lamp but requires a small 40w bulb. The electric cord is a decent length -- I haven't measured it exactly but it appears to be approx. 5 to 6 ft long. Also, it is unlikely to be damaged upon delivery as it was very well protected in the package it came in.

Perfect size

Finding a bulb was the hardest part of this purchase, but totally worth it. I like the touch aspect and three settings of this lamp. The size is small enough for the desk, and really handy that there are no switches to find. The shade moves out in one direction from the top, when light is needed on a specific spot.
