Takes some of the backwork out of leaf collecting....
I was - like many - a little skeptical when I seen this product, but decided to give it a try. Some context: I do have a full household of the sleep-all-day / turn-up-half-way-through-any-chore-and-offer-help adolescents, so its difficult to get help when it comes to things like raking and collecting leaves. I own two leaf blowers, a battery powered over the shoulder type as well as a B&D leaf hog. Both work well if you want to blow leaves into a big pile, or suck and mulch into a trash can (assuming you have the attachment). However: - if you're blowing leaves into piles you still have to scoop them into the trashbags, try getting that going on a slightly windy day. - if you're blowing leaves then mulching into a trash bag, on a dry day you'll get a LOT of dust from the shredding. So they kind of work, but they still have their disadvantages. The target yard is just over half an acre all told. One tree out front, three out back. All of course shedding leaves at slightly different times. I'll say 'average'. The lawn sweeper is easy enough to put together, some areas aren't too clear but nothing i couldn't work around. It does have a stopper on the front for raising and lowering the brush height, you might need to play with this a little to get what works for you. You can also play with the brush height a little as you push it round the yard to get the optimal height for scooping up the leaves. So I tried this on a lawn with a scattering of leaves, does work but it will pick up most leaves, but not all. Where it really comes into its own is with a denser coverage. However on really dense coverage you're likely to have to run a rake through to loosen up the leaves a little first. See the pictures for an idea of its effectiveness. It does fill up quite quickly and you'll find yourself reaching in to compress the leaves while you're going. One pass of the yard was enough to fill up the collection bag, but you're going to be stopping where the coverage gets denser, compressing the leaves, backtracking and pushing on. (I much prefer this minor inconvenience to stooping over and collecting leaves with a scoop) NOTE FOR MANUFACTURERS: a helpful design improvement for the collection bin would be a hinged flap with a cord or a pull-plate with a cord, to let the operator compress the leaves in the bag towards the back so you can collect more leaves in a single pass. Circling back to the product. Unloading the bag and tipping it into a trash bag works with the bigger backs and the medium sized ones. For the medium sized bags you'll see I take the collector out and hold it on its side and pull out the leaves by hand, which works just fine. But get yourself a bag stand to take the initial few deposits of leaves, then pull it out of the frame, compress and it'll be ready for a few more. Don't know if it makes sense for the manufacturer to provide one, but they might be missing out on an opportunity for a few more sales. Overall: - works well on medium coverage - collection bin can get filled easily, have to stop and compress - twigs will clog it, remove them first - unloading is straightforward, take out, tip it on its side above the bag and unload by hand. - will be defeated by dense coverage, loosen it up with a rake first to spread it out then collect it. - wet leaves are not your friend.. let them dry - use the adjustable stopper at the front if the holding height when operating isn't high or low enough All in all its a very good product that means one person can collect leaves (as long as you get a bag stand as well). I'm very happy with it and look forward to seeing some improvements in future versions, by which time I'll probably need a replacement or spare parts. A lot less stooping to load up oversized bags in the windy weather. No more dust from mulching. I can tackle the leaf-collection gradually on my own without much help. Its not for everyone, but if you can't afford a ride along mower with the leaf collector attachment and you have the same problems with leaf-collection that I do , this might be just the thing for you. Thanks guys!

This thing is a game changer!
First, it wasn't hard to put together. I did it in about 15 to 20 minutes. Now let's talk about my yard. What you see in the pictures is only the beginning of what I'm dealing with and that's just the front yard. This is my second fall in this home. Ten oak trees! First comes the acorns. Billions of them. They fall like rain, ricocheting off the house, the cars, the camper. I can only rake them there is no easy way to pick them up. I dump them over the fence and the deer take care of the rest. I got about 10 wheel barrows full of those. Now for every acorn there are about 20 leaves. You do the math. Last year was a nightmare. I tried mowing them with the rider. That created about 1/4 inch of leaf mulch...way too much to let the grass breath. I tried push mowing them. That was easier but emptying the bag was annoying. I tried blowing them into the woods behind the house after getting about a 3 ft ×60 ft pile. Not good for vegetation on the slope ( land erosion). So this year I bought a blower/vacume/mulcher. Takes way to long. So I tried this. This lawn sweeper. I love it! Is it work, yep. About like push mowing but not near as physically demanding. Way easier to empty than the mower bag. Does it get every leaf, nope. Im not going for perfection. My yard is like a forest floor. Not much grass, lots of moss and mushrooms. I like it that way. I just don't want to kill what does grow by leaving all the leaves there. Plus , I got to meet the neighbors half way and keep the yard somewhat respectable. I swept a portion of the front yard and a few trips around the back. I figure if I do a little every day or every other I'll be able to keep on top of the leaves. Fingers crossed. It does a decent job of getting small sticks and acorn tops (not the acorns though). There are a lot of little groups of leaves and it does a decent job of picking those up too. I have to say I'm happy with my purchase. It could have been a little cheaper but everything is overpriced these days. Be nice if it could hold more leaves but it's fairly easy to empty. It's easy to push too. Kind of fun actually. I'm gonna need more leaf bags. 6 bags and I only put a dent in whats just the beginning of leaf h e double hockey sticks. Lol, getchya one!

Sure beats raking!
I bought this for use on artificial turf. It worked fairly well at the lowest setting on my 2” turf, but does little to nothing on flat pavement or on the “putting green” turf as it is limited to haw low it can go. The design picks up most debris but about 20% misses the catcher so going over it a few times is needed to get to 100% picked up. Assembly was easy. Brand is “American “, made in China ????

Performs better than expected
Really helps pick up yard debris. However, I wish it was made of sturdier material. It is mostly molded plastic that is just too lite and I am concerned that it won’t last more than a season or two…

Very effective, but not very well built
I bought this one used in new condition. The person that returned it did a good job of disassembly but left the instructions out of the box. No problem - YouTube had a video on how to put it together. The double ended connector for the center of the collection bag was broken so a bit of duct tape fixed it. Otherwise, it worked great - far better than raking the lawn. Took only 10 minutes to fill the bag twice with leaves from our pin oak. The leaves are hard little buggers that fall in the spring instead of the fall. If they're not picked up immediately they end up causing the lawn to die. This sweeper picks them quick and easy. Not built very sturdy at all. It works well, but I wouldn't expect it to last more than a season or two.

Great purchase, easy to use
Purchased this last year and have gotten a significant amount of use out of it. It chews through branches easily and only have issues with hardwood that is close to the max diameter. Be careful if you run it with a full bin as this will cause it to jam up and not clear. If this happens, its simple enough to reach under (with the power off) and clear the discard chute of the blockage. This also happens when you run pine branches through as well. Overall, this has been a great purchase and has allowed me to create my own mulch for the garden and reduced the need for throwing away or burning all that yard waste. Good to know that when the blades get dull, the shredded material will look longer and its as simple as turning around the blades as they are reversible. Don't bother if you want to use this for leaves though, way too much of a hassle.

Total waste of money
Like - looks good from 20 feet away .... up close, pure junk, flimsy, barely holds together .... it must be a toy. dislike - total wast of money. Built bad. Works bad. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. When I saw some of the original reviews I really thought it couldn't be that bad. IT IS THAT BAD AND THEN SOME. I'm going to put it out for sale in the spring - on the front lawn - the sign is going to say "I'LL PAY YOU $20 dollars to take it away. But you have to sign a contract and a waiver - that you WILL NOT RETURN IT TO ME." TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

Works very good so far with what I’ve put through it but...
Well made unit for an electric chipper shredder. Got the power for the recommended throughput of leaves and branches. The only knock I have to not give it 5 stars is the output chute to the bin. A design shortcoming. There is a guard that prevents certain material from exiting the chipping area into the bin. Certain materials such as greener leaves or in my case cedar boughs get backed up here and clogged up the chipping area. The result is you having to frequently open up the unit and clearing this area. If this would have been a mechanism with a drive to move materials down into the bin this machine would have been perfect. This aside branches within the recommended size are taken care of with no problems and the finished material is perfect for garden mulch. Check out the many helpful YouTube videos on this product.

Don't bother with this one! Its junk.
We bought this shredder in July to finish some pretty well rotted compost and chip some small dry branches from winter pruning. It jammed all the time, was difficult to clear the jammed material, wouldn't chip the branches at, just smoked and threatened to catch fire. A rather useless piece of machinery at $385. To top it all off, our local Home Hardware just had them on sale for $179. I think they realized they were junk too. Totally unsatisfied with this machine.

Chipper works great but not for shredding leaves.
If you let the machine do the work without trying to jam pieces through it fast as I seen some people do on You Tube, it works just fine. If you put in branches with lots of green leaves, it has a tendency to plug up over time but it is easy to clear up. Demo video show lady putting leaves through the top but it is way too time consuming I consider it useless for shredding leaves. I am quite happy how it chipped the branches and twigs. It is far less noisy than gas operated chippers. Collection bin is a definite plus. As noted, the reason I did not give it five stars is it should not be advertised as leaf shredder (misleading) and it's tendency to plug up with branches with lots of green leaves.
